Chapter 27 Chapter 27: Streaming Again
Selena’s voice remained as sweet as ever. While explaining, she tried to keep her tone as gentle as possible, which earned her the favor of many curious bystanders.
"Look at how differently she's handling this. Kola has a function to check for audio enhancements, so go see for yourself."
"This girl is so kind. Even though she only shows her mouth, her lips are really beautiful, and her smile is incredibly charming."
\[User “Alexander Lucas” has sent x1 dolphin.\]
"If you don’t want to watch, then leave. I’ve never been an anti before, but don’t make me hate your idol. Otherwise, by tomorrow, there will be five hundred anti Sarah groups popping up on Facebook."
\[User “SunFlowers” sent x1 anchor.\]
"Get out! Don’t disturb my sleep! Let the goddess sing me to sleep."
\[User “Black White is me” sent x10 roses.\]
"How disgusting. She doesn’t use audio enhancements, so they accuse her of lip-syncing. She doesn’t show her face, and they insult her looks. As the idol, so the fans."
At first, the people hired by Sarah and her fans stirred up trouble in Selena’s stream, but they were quickly pushed out by bystanders and Selena’s audience. The comment section buzzed with activity, leaving Selena struggling to keep up as she tried to figure out the cause of the argument.
"I'm really sorry. Could someone please tell me what’s going on?"
As soon as Selena asked, the comment section lit up again, with people explaining that she was being targeted for illegally singing a song by a certain singer.
That was when Selena realized her mistake. She should have asked for permission before singing.
"This is my fault. I don’t use social media, so I didn’t keep up with the situation, which allowed things to escalate like this."
"No social media account? In this day and age?"
"There are tons of fake accounts impersonating you recently. You should make an official account."
"No wonder you disappear right after each stream."
The platform’s administrators had been closely monitoring Selena’s stream. Seeing people causing trouble, they immediately disabled the comment function for those accounts, clearing the atmosphere in the room.
Kevin, sitting in his office, was also watching Selena’s stream. Looking at her beautiful lips, slender neck, and delicate shoulders, he couldn’t help but marvel:
"With looks like that, her face can’t be bad. I absolutely have to sign her for an exclusive contract and promote her to become a famous singer."
His assistant beside him could only sigh. She didn’t want to pour cold water on her boss’s enthusiasm, but there were some things that needed to be said.
"Boss, we don’t have the finances to launch a new singer right now."
Kevin frowned, looking at Selena on the screen, his mind in turmoil. In the end, he sighed like his assistant, remembering how his father had told him that if he didn’t properly develop Kola, he’d have to return and take over the family’s billion-dollar estate. It seemed the time had come for him to choose.
At that moment, Selena continued:
"Today, the songs I was planning to sing don’t have proper permission, like 'I Wait for You at the Last Sunny Corner,' 'The Song of the Hill Breeze,' 'When Will We Meet Again'... What a shame, I guess I’ll have to end the stream early."
The comment section erupted with pleas:
"Please don’t! Just sing, we’ll cover for you. My workload is overwhelming, and my head feels like it’s going to explode. Please, sing a few lines for me."
"I’ll go get permission for you right now, just don’t end the stream."
"Please, don’t leave just yet. Could you sing one more song? I'm struggling with another sleepless night."
Most of Selena’s viewers tuned in just to hear her sing. Although listening to a recording was relaxing, it couldn’t compare to hearing her live.
However, these comments were ridiculed by the troublemakers and by those who had never heard Selena sing live before.
"You’re exaggerating. Does listening to her singing really cure headaches and insomnia? Can it cure chronic constipation too?"
"These people were definitely paid to boost her views."
"Overdoing it will have the opposite effect, girl."
As usual, Selena ignored the malicious comments. Her life had already been filled with enough suffering; if she cared about them, she might end up taking her own life.
Still, she couldn’t ignore those who genuinely cared for her, so she said:
"Then how about I play the lyre for everyone today?"
With that, she stood up to fetch the lyre she had bought along with her piano. When the viewers saw her wasp-like waist, they were ecstatic. Truly a goddess. With a body this breathtaking, they would be willing to watch her stream all day long.
Selena cradled the lyre in her arms and began to pluck the strings. The soft melody was as clear as flowing spring water, as light as birdsong in the trees. As the music played, everyone in the stream was swept away into a sea of endless emotions. A sense of peace gently washed over their tired bodies, weary from the struggles of daily life.
Selena gazed into the distance, and before her eyes appeared the scene from her time in heaven. Unconsciously, she began to sing. Everyone was stunned to discover that she was singing in a foreign language, ancient but incredibly soothing.
A few minutes after Selena’s singing stopped, the sound of the lyre faded as well. The audience in the live stream was still dazed. They had seen many streamers sing before, but none had played such an ancient instrument, and to top it off, she sang in Greek. Now, anyone who dared claim she was lip-syncing or using auto-tune would be quickly pummeled.
“Wonderful! Absolutely amazing! I must promote her to become a famous singer.”
Kevin slapped his thigh with excitement. He could sense the endless potential in this female streamer. If he could win her over, Kola would be saved, and he wouldn’t have to go back to inherit the family’s billion-dollar business.
His assistant could only shake her head in disbelief. If her boss kept this up, Kola would crash sooner rather than later.
