Chapter 21 Chapter 21: The Angelic Voice
As soon as Balthazar finished reading the assistant's message, his brows furrowed immediately. Then, another message followed.
\[Assistant: Boss, I've found information on Miss Selena Taylor. She was an orphan living in a welfare center from a young age. However, that welfare center was dissolved over ten years ago, and the group of orphans was sent to other centers around the country. But there are no records of where Selena was transferred.\]
The more Balthazar read, the more suspicious he became. How could someone remain hidden for over ten years without leaving any trace?
Moreover, why was she involved with William’s ex-wife, caring for her mother and brother?
Suddenly, a crazy thought flashed through his mind. He raised his phone, took several close-up photos of Selena’s face, and then turned and left the hospital room.
Not long after he left, Selena woke up. Realizing she was in a hospital, she let out a weary sigh.
“At least he had the decency to bring me here. Otherwise, I might’ve died before I could even think of revenge."
She then called Kelly to inform her of her hospital address. Although her fever had gone down, being alone in the hospital room made her feel somewhat lonely.
Shortly after, Kelly rushed in, and seeing Selena’s pale face, she asked anxiously: “What happened, Selena? You were fine just yesterday."
With a gloomy expression, Selena recounted how Balthazar had mistreated her the previous night. Furious, Kelly shouted: “That jerk! Let me give him a piece of my mind!"
Seeing Kelly stand up, ready to confront Balthazar, Selena hurriedly stopped her. Not to mention whether she’d even get to see him, but if she angered him and he canceled the arrangement, wouldn’t everything she had endured so far be in vain?
Thinking of her plan, Selena sighed and said: “I initially planned to become Balthaza's sugar baby to make that Amelia suffer after her lover was taken away. But now, he’s keeping our arrangement so secret. He’s probably afraid she’ll get hurt if she finds out."
It had been three days since she signed the arrangement with Balthazar, yet he only saw her privately at home. He hadn’t taken her to any gatherings, so even someone as oblivious as she could see he was deliberately hiding her.
If things continued like this, she would be the only one suffering.
Kelly frowned, thinking for a long time before speaking:
“Why don’t you make Balthazar fall in love with you, Selena?"
“What?"
Selena was taken aback.
She had never thought of that. Her sole goal in getting close to Balthazar was to make Amelia miserable. Plus, given his hatred for William for taking the woman he loved, it would be easy for her to manipulate both sides into a confrontation. She didn’t need him to love her. To her, love was sacred. To deceive someone’s feelings would be a grave sin.
However, Kelly placed a hand on her shoulder, looking her straight in the eyes: “Only if he loves you will Amelia completely lose the man she loves. And more importantly, if you hold his heart, he’ll do anything for you. Winning Edge Enterprises and Sterling Group will clash, and he’ll devote himself entirely to you."
Selena felt torn but couldn't cross her moral boundaries.
“I... I can't deceive someone’s feelings."
Kelly gripped her shoulders tightly and spoke slowly: “A man willing to spend money on a sugar baby like him doesn’t deserve love. He says he loves Amelia, but hasn’t he still have sex with you? Listen to me, Uncle Collin died in agony. Don’t be kind to these hungry wolves anymore. They don’t deserve it."
Mentioning her father’s death sent a sharp pain through Selena’s heart. Yes, she shouldn't be soft-hearted towards them. If she continued to be weak, how could she avenge her father?
A tear slid down her pale cheek, and with a trembling voice, she said:
“I know what I need to do."
…
After leaving the hospital, Balthazar drove straight to a cosmetic clinic owned by an acquaintance. He handed over the photos he had taken of Selena to be examined.
“Take a look and tell me if this girl’s face shows any signs of plastic surgery."
Shirley took the phone from Balthazar, surprised.
“You’ve surprised me. Is this so important that you came to see me yourself?"
Balthazar clicked his tongue impatiently.
“Just do what I ask."
Shirley pouted, thinking how difficult her cousin’s temper was. She wondered who would be unfortunate enough to end up as his wife someday.
After studying the photos for a while, she couldn’t help but exclaim: “Her features are really beautiful. Even individually, they’re stunning. Is this photoshopped or is it real?"
Balthazar frowned.
“I just need you to tell me if she’s had any surgery."
Shirley took a closer look before saying: “From these photos, it’s hard to say for sure. But if there are no beauty filters, and this is her natural face, then she hasn’t had any surgery."
Hearing that, Balthazar’s expression darkened further. If she hadn’t undergone surgery, was it just weight loss? No, losing weight couldn’t explain this level of beauty.
Could this all be a coincidence? Was Selena really just a friend of William’s ex-wife?
At that moment, Shirley added:
“If you want to be sure, bring her to my clinic. It’ll be easier to assess in person."
Balthazar closed his eyes for a few seconds, trying to clear his head.
“That won’t be necessary."
He turned to leave. He intended to drive to Winning Edge Enterprises Tower, but for some reason, he turned the car around and headed back to the hospital.
After deciding what she needed to do for her father's revenge, Selena walked Kelly to the hospital gate before returning to her bed to rest.

The hospital room door opened, and Balthazar walked in, approaching Selena. Remembering the terrifying events of the previous night, she shivered and retreated to a corner. Her reaction made him feel uncomfortable.
“Last night... I was drunk. I don’t usually act like that."
Balthazar tried to explain, blaming it all on the alcohol. Selena understood, but she couldn’t figure out why he was suddenly being so gentle with her. He didn’t need to explain anything to her.
“But you shouldn’t have invited a guy to my house!"
He was still angry about that. How could he tolerate being insulted by some punk? It was all her fault!
