Chapter 249 Answers
An hour later we land in Vegas. It's beautiful and sunny here. The pilot said the temperature was in the mid 80's today. That's about a 15-degree change in temperature. I hope I don't go into shock while I'm here.
It only took us 20 minutes to find our luggage. It helped that we didn't have a lot of luggage in the first place. We found a taxi and he drove us to our hotel in no time flat. Even when people should be in school right now, there are plenty of tourists around. It seems like the ideal place to get lost.
I wasn't shocked to see my sisters already waiting for me. I knew I'd be seeing them soon. I know they would have everything planned before I could even come up with a list of things I needed to get done.
Josie gave Trent a hug. "I'm so happy for you guys. Rick is in our room, right next door; he's waiting for you!" she states, trying to rush him out.
Trent looks a little shocked and I just laughed before placing a soft kiss on his lips. "Don't worry, Trent. Rick will take really good care of you," I promise.
"Yes, he will!" Liv agrees before shoving him out the door. "See you in a few hours!"
"What is..." I turn to look at my little sister in suspicion. She looks way too happy right now. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the fact she's going to be skipping classes for the next few days.
"Dress shopping!" Liv squeals, grabbing her purse and tugging on my hand to pull me right back out the door I just stepped in, and I can't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. Jos looks excited too, but she's waddling a little at the moment and has a lot less energy than our 17-year-old sister.
I hadn't even thought of that! I can't exactly show up in my old jeans with rips in the knees and the old knit-top that has seen better days. I'd be laughed out of the state.
Luckily there were plenty of places selling wedding dresses. It didn't take very long for us to find a little boutique full of rentals and dresses ready for purchase. I didn't know how I felt about renting a dress, so I decided buying was the best option.
I found a cute little summer dress (even though it's supposed to be fall, it's still 83 and sunny right now). It comes to my knees in flowy white lace. The bodice fits tight and dips in the back. It's nothing overly complicated, and it looks like me.
"That was way too fast," Olivia complains. "I was kinda hoping we could keep looking for more..."
"We've still got to get her ready, Liv," Josie admonishes our baby sister. "We can't spend all day dress shopping. She'll miss her appointment," she points out.
"Oh! Right!" she cheers up immediately. "Don't worry! Jos and I got you covered! C'mon!" she insists, pulling me down the sidewalk back to our hotel.
I have no clue what they had prepared for me back in the room. I barely stepped in long enough to drop my bags before I was pulled away to find a dress!
The moment I stepped into the suite, Liv practically pulls my arms out of my sockets to a staging area of sorts. "Sit!" she demands, getting her gear from her bag. I guess my baby sister came prepared.
"I should've known," I chuckle. "I'm guessing you won't let me get away with just mascara and lip gloss?" I smirk.
Liv doesn't even bother responding to my ridiculous suggestion. She lives for makeup and accessories. She's the little princess after all.
"Just so you know, we're gonna talk while I make you fabulous!" Liv demands. "I have so many questions and I'm demanding answers! There are things I deserve to know as your little sister!" she huffs searching through her products before holding up her first weapon of choice with a triumphant smirk.
I should've also known this was coming. I'm not stupid, and neither is she. She might be lazy, but she's smart as hell, and she's probably realized something's up. I haven't told her any of this stuff, because like most babies of the family, she's pretty self-absorbed. I'm curious to see whether she grows out of it or not...
"Okay, what do you want to know," I ask, relaxing back into the little chair in front of the vanity. I could technically see what she'd doing to me, if she wasn't right in my face. Guess I'll just be surprised!
"First off, why the hell am I always the last to know things?!" She demands as she adds a soft layer of eye shadow to my lids. Her efficient fingers make quick work of the silky powder I've barely managed to use.
