Chapter 217 Party Prep
I woke up in Trent's arms when the sun came up, and this time it was slow and pleasant.
"Good morning, Angel," came his gravelly voice, before he decided he didn't care if I had morning breath or not and kissed me breathless. "I can definitely get used to this," he murmured against my lips.
I can't help but agree. I never knew how much I like being kissed first thing in the morning. His arms wrapping me in a safe cocoon. He'd chased all the nightmares away, and now, it was just him and me.
But we didn't have the luxury of staying in bed all day long. We actually had things going on today, and it seemed rude not to help out.
Today Rick decided to throw a party. No not one of those high school parties where everyone ends up drunk. It was more of a 'block party' where everyone was invited. Little kids and old friends. Everyone showed up... Who could resist coming to the Kingston Mansion?
"Good morning, you two," Rick smiled up at us as we made our way to the kitchen for breakfast. "Sleep well?" He asked with a wink.
"Morning, Rick. Yeah, we slept pretty good," Trent smirked down at me, making me blush.
"Ready to help out today?" He asked, looking at me to make sure I really was okay.
"Yeah, can't wait!" I cheered. I don't mind this kind of party, especially when I'm not at the center of it. I'll be there as a helper, and to make sure Josie isn't stressing out... And maybe spending a little time with my boyfriend.
It was all in honor of his baby girl Sophie, who has yet to be born. But he decided to do this before her birth, calming they wouldn't have time to after she's born. And Jos would probably be exhausted.
I was surprised there were lots of women bringing Josie gifts for the baby! Only a year ago she'd been bullied on by bitches who were jealous she was with Rick. But since then, she's made actual friends, and I'm happy for her. Many of them are the wives of Rick's friends, so they don't actually have a reason to be jealous.
He's probably right. As it is, she's been sitting around with her feet up. Doctor's orders. The baby is due in a few weeks or so, so really, it could come any time now.
Jeff had been busy running around taking care of the catering. He's got a big station set up out back on the patio near the pool all set for grilling.
"Hey, Jeff. It smells amazing out here!" I smile as I check out the food display. He's on the grills, but he actually hired some help and they have a huge buffet of salads, sandwiches, fruits, and a ton of finger foods.
"Hey, Charlie! Good to see you, Trent! Go ahead and help yourselves to anything you want! We've got plenty!" he smirked sending a wink.
The meat and veggies smell wonderful! My stomach has been grumbling all afternoon.
Trent and I grab some plates and start filling them with grilled chicken, some grilled corn, and some fruit. I make sure to grab a slice of his cake... You'd think with how good of a cook he is, he'd be snatched up by now. But he claims he's waiting for the right girl.
I look out over the visitors and wonder if she might be here tonight. There are plenty here, and I'm sure many of them could appreciate a man who knows how to cook!
"Well, maybe tonight you might find your lucky lady," I teased him.
Jeff just chuckles. "You know you are the only girl for me, Charlie! And you shot me down," he says, dramatically placing his hand over his heart. "I don't know what to do with that kinda rejection... Except make more food to console my empty heart!" He teased.
There are a ton of families and their kids lounging around the pool, and some of the teens decided the heated pool was more inviting than socializing with their parents... Can't blame them. I love that pool! (When there is no one around.)
"Oh! Hey, Charlie. You look good tonight! How you doin' hon?" Grant asks, shaking hands with Trent. They actually get along pretty good, almost like brothers, considering their age difference.
"I'm doing pretty good. You guys taking it easy tonight?" I teased looking up at him, while Trent wrapped a protective arm around me again.
"Goin' low key tonight. Rick doesn't want anyone spooked having security on site. But don't you worry! We won't let anything happen tonight! We've got our eyes everywhere!" he promised.
It actually kinda throws me off seeing Grant, Brent and Sean in jeans and hoodies. They are Rick's security team, and I'm used to seeing them in tactical gear. Rick want's his security 'on site' but keep it 'low key' so no one knows they are security.
