Chapter 137 Baby Blues

Chapter 137 Baby Blues
Author pov.

The final trimester of Dandy's pregnancy was very chaotic yet beautiful, and occasionally hysterical.

Both Alexander and Dandelion, replaced their high paying jobs with the full time preparations for their new baby.

It started with the shopping trips.

Grandma Winifred was determined to spoil the unborn baby, she had decided that the nursery needed to be stocked with baby things that could be used for at least triplets, despite the doctors assuring her that there was only one baby on the way, though Dandy had insisted she didn't want a gender revealed, she wanted it up be a surprise.

But of course Grandma Winifred still did't listen, she kept over buying things.

"The customized crib needs to be made with titanium, Alexander," Noona argued in the middle of the baby boutique, pointing her cane at a wooden bassinet.

Alex, who had spent the whole week researching on baby safety standards, sighed. "Noona, that crib is made of solid oak. It’s perfectly safe. And we don’t need four different diaper changing stations at home, I don't know why you keep insisting."

Grandma Winifred scoffed loudly,

"You don't know anything boy. My great grandchild needs diaper change everywhere. One for the nursery, one in your bedroom, one for the living room, and one for the garden," She explained stubbornly. "Dandelion is not going to be walking up and down these stairs every time the child needs a change."

Alex sighed, she does have a point.

Meanwhile, Dandy was having her own crisis in the aisle next to the stuffed animals.

She stood there holding a small, plush elephant, her eyes welling up with sudden, uncontrollable tears.

"It's.... it's just so small," she sobbed, clutching the toy to her chest. "What if our baby doesn't like the elephant?"

Lately she had been crying a lot both when necessary and unnecessary. Her baby blues always happened at unpredictable time.

Alex dropped the crib pamphlet and went to her side immediately.

He wrapped his arms around her, pressing his chin to the top of her head. "Our baby is going to love the elephant, Angel. And even if not, our baby will have a mom and dad who loves him or her more than anything in the world."

When she finally calmed down, They both went outside, and met the car completely loaded with boxes.

Dandelion laughed until her stomach ached. "Noona is so dramatic, why did she get all these, I don't think I know how to use most of them."

Alex reached over, taking her hand and kissing her knuckles. "Well....you’re stuck with her too. There's no escaping Noona's chaos."

.................

When they got home, they decided to paint the nursery after resting.

They painted the walls with soft green with yellow, a gender neutral color. Dandy chose yellow because she liked the color yellow, and hoped her baby would like it too, if it's a girl.

Meanwhile Alex insisted he had a "hidden artistic talent," he spent three days making a painting of dandelion flowers drifting through a field with bright Stars above.

But of course, It was a disaster. The dandelions looked more like exploding fireworks, but Dandy loved it, in fact she had gone emotional again just by staring at it.

Later Dandy decided to hang photos of Flora and Genevieve on the wall, ensuring their child would grow up knowing the faces of their mothers who had paved the way for their existence.

When the nursery was finally ready, they both stood by the doorway looking at their messy but beautiful work, Alex wrapped his arms around Dandy from behind, his hands resting protectively over her belly.

"We’re going to be the best parents to our baby," he murmured into her ears.

Dandelion leaned back into him. "That's right."

He kissed her by the side of her cheeks, "Best decision I ever made was jumping into that lake to save you. It led me here."

............

Later that night Dandelion's usual cravings began. It was 2:00 AM when she woke up with an uncontrollable hunger for pickles, honey, and ice cream....but the catch is, she wanted Alex to buy it himself from a store.

Alex, who had been sound asleep, had to get out of bed and put on another set of clothes after she finished making her request.

He didn't complain, He simply drove into town, waking up the dozing grocery store owner who was on a night shift,

And then returned forty minutes later with: 14 jars of pickles, 23 pints of ice cream, 20 jars of honey and enough Swiss chocolate to stock a small shop.

The next day she cried again and complained that the chocolate was no longer "good enough."

He had to order new ones to be flown in from abroad by the following afternoon.

Alex never complained. Even when she eventually apologized for the madness, he simply kissed her forehead and told her she was worth every bar of chocolate in the world.

It always left Dandy swelling with happiness at how lucky she was.

But as her body changed, Dandy felt insecure.

One night, she stood before the full length mirror, her fingers tracing the stretch marks on her belly. She felt heavy, swollen, and really insecure.

"I don't think I'll like the outcome of my body after giving birth," she whispered sadly to herself.

But Alex who had overheard her, walked towards her. He didn't say a word. He just walked to her, knelt in front of her, and pressed his face gently against her rounded stomach, kissing her baby bump.

"You're carrying our child," he whispered, his voice vibrating against her skin. "You are the strongest, most resilient person I have ever known. So trust me when I say you look even more beautiful."

They ended up making love throughout that night.
.............

Meanwhile Willow, the massive wolf had suddenly decided that Dandelion’s belly was now his personal pillow.

He followed her practically everywhere, growling whenever Alex dared to send him away.

"My own pet is stealing my wife," Alex complained one evening as he tried to pull him away from Dandy, only for Willow to stand up and let out a low, warning growl.

Dandelion laughed, her hand scratching behind Willow’s ears. "He’s just clingy to his little sibling, Alex. He knows we're expecting."

Alex gave up and left him.

One night, Willow refused to leave their bedroom when it was time to go to bed, he was insisting on staying close to Dandy.

Alex finally had enough , he had to physically hoist the hundred pound wolf onto his shoulder and carry him out to the room.

Willow spent the next three days sulking, refusing to let anyone pet him.

Dandy couldn't help laughing so hard, until she suddenly felt a sharp pinch, followed by a warm release of water.

She froze, her hands gripping the armrests of her chair.

She slowly, looked down at the puddle of water on the tiles, then up at Alex who was also frozen on a spot.

"The baby is coming."
