CHAPTER 16: COMPLICATED
ALPHA ZAC'S POV
My eyes widened when I saw the finger mark on her neck and it was obvious he was grabbed there. Who else had the gut to touch her that way if not Brimstone? I was annoyed and my blood boiled. My stomach churned and my face darkened. I had known since the moment I saw Monica that she was someone very important to me. My dead heart... My heart which had been dead for 500 years raced again the moment I saw her and for a moment, I thought she was my Mate but my wolf didn't say a word and that was when I knew she wasn't.
I knew I couldn't have her as a Mate but I kept feeling bad and guilty for letting her be with someone like Brimstone who would only hurt her feelings and make her feel unwanted. I knew she would feel lonely in the house and I felt like it was my fault because if I hadn't bought her then for Brimstone, she might be in a better place now or maybe in my Pack as one of my Pack members and she would be enjoying her life without any problem at all. I regretted the decision I made that day every night before going to bed and every morning after I woke up. "Why did I tell him I bought her for him?" I kept asking myself but I was sad.
This was the reason I always played with her to lessen my guilt and tend to her every time I saw her. I already thought I was finally letting go of my guilt but it all came rushing back to me when I saw the bruise on her neck which I knew was caused by Brimstone. She had every right to ask him about who he slept with because she was his Mate, his Luna, and his wife. Why did he have to go to the extent of grabbing her neck?
I teleported away from the room and appeared in the meeting room. A lot of the Elders were already sitting down so I walked over to Brimstone's side and sat down beside him. He looked at me and frowned but I gave no reply whatsoever as I already knew he wanted me to explain why I came late but I wasn't in the mood for any courtesy. The elders also looked at me but I looked away and the meeting started. "We've found the remaining rogues and they've been killed. There is peace for now but who knows what will happen if the rogues appear again. This is why we decided to utilize our powers and find out where they are hiding before they become strong enough to threaten us. Yes, I heard Alpha Conall, The Alpha of Pack D is facing some issues at the moment and he requested an audience with you but we haven't sent a reply yet. What do we send to him." One of the Elders replied and I rolled my eyes.
Everything they were saying had no meaning to me as I was boiling with anger and everything I wanted at the moment was for the meeting to end so I can talk to Brimstone. The whole meeting dragged on for hours but I didn't say a word all through the meeting. Whenever they asked me a question, I would look away and frown on my face to let them understand that I wasn't in the mood to entertain any questions at all.
Hours later which felt like 200 hundred years to me, Brimstone finally stood up "Okay then. Let's end the meeting here today." He said and turned to me. "We need to talk." He said and teleported away from the room. "Will you go to him? He seems to be very angry with you." Crimson, my Wolf asked me and I sneered. "I'm angry at him too," I replied but I could feel Crimson was worried. Whenever Brimstone and I fought, Crimson was the one that gets affected the most because Brimstone's wolf would always make sure to overpower him first and make him completely powerless. So, Crimson was always scared of a clash with Brimstone and it was understandable.
I looked at the Elders who were all staring at me with questions in their eyes and I scoffed before teleporting away from the room. I appeared in the garden as I knew that was where he'd go and fortunately, I saw him there. "What was that?" He questioned the moment I got to the garden and I scoffed. "I should be the one asking you that question. What the hell did you think you were doing when you grabbed your Mate's neck so harshly that marks appeared on her neck?!" I yelled at him and his eyes widened. He hated it when he is yelled at and it only made me happy because I knew it was the only way I could always get at him.
"What are you doing, Zac?" He growled at me and I frowned. "You are repressing your anger? Why? It's not like it's the first time we are fighting. Bring it on! Let's fight it out maybe you will get back your mind that you are losing right now!' I replied to him and took a few steps back as I prepared myself to transform but he only continued to glare at me without saying a word. "Why? Why are you not talking?" I asked him and he rolled his eyes before teleporting away but he returned before I could say a word and moved toward me. "Do you like her, Zac? Do you wish for her to be your mate?" He asked me calmly and my heart raced. I stood right immediately as I glared at him,.wanting to tell him No but I couldn't open my mouth. What do I feel about her? Do I wish she would be my Mate?
My heart raced every time I was with her and when I was treating her neck earlier, I felt like kissing her but does that mean I loved her?
I looked back at Brimstone who was waiting for my reply and I couldn't say anything. I do not love her. She is just special to me but why is she special to me? I had many questions I wanted to ask but no one to answer. "It seems I'm right," Brimstone mumbled before he teleported away and I groaned. "F**k! That jerk! Why did he have to bring up such a question instead of replying to me or fighting me?!" I yelled to the sky as I fell on my knee and raised my head. I felt like I was losing my mind.
Not knowing what to do, I teleported away from the garden and appeared in my Pack. It was not too far away from Alpha Brimstone's Pack but it was still far enough to make the teleporting take a toll on me. I appeared in my room and I met maids laying on my bed. "You all should leave," I said to them and they turned to bow before rushing out of my room. "Crimson, what do you think? When will I see my Mate?" I asked Crimson as that was the only thing I could do at the moment. I was tired and I needed an answer to my questions or I might lose my mind.
Having any feelings for Monica was wrong and I knew that but my heart kept racing at the thought of her. "Monica isn't your mate but you love her." Crimson simply replied and I grunted. I stood up from my bed and entered the bathroom where I had a long bath while thinking of what to do with my feelings toward Monica.
After hours of bathing, I finally made a decision and I came out of the bathroom. "I will serve beside Monica from now on. I will be a shadow angel and prevent any harm from befalling her. I will make sure she has a relaxing life and maybe one day, my feelings toward her will turn to that of respect and I will be able to look at her without my heart failing me." I promised myself and I could feel Crimson's excitement too. The future seemed to be unpredictable and for some reason, it made me quite scared.
