CHAPTER 15: A SPELL

MONICA'S POV

I stood up from the ground and walked to the bed where I sat for a while as different thoughts ran through my mind. What do I do now? What if he sent me away? If there was one life I hated and didn't wish to return to, then it was the life I lived before I met Alpha Brimstone. Being with him had made me feel alive again and he made it seem like I had a purpose to stay strong.

I knew I was crazy and I was losing it but I couldn't stop thinking about him and that was when I realized I was already seeing him differently and he was already meaning something to me which shouldn't be. I stood up from the bed and looked around the room. "Is it because we share the same room? Why am I feeling this way toward him?" I asked Edna but she refused to reply me and I sighed. I walked over to the door, opened it, and left the room.

I walked down the steps slowly and my eyes widened when I saw Alpha Brimstone and Alpha Zac eating. Elated, I increased my pace and got to them faster than I intended to. I smiled warmly at Alpha Zac who stood up and smiled back at me. "Luna, You're here." He said politely as he pulled out a seat for me and I sat down. "Yes. It's been a while. How have you been, Lord Zac?" I asked politely too and he smiled.

"I went to a meeting with Alpha Brimstone and he left me there. How have you been?" He asked and my heart sank. I wanted to tell him everything wasn't fine and ask for his advice but my eyes met with Alpha Brimstone's who immediately looked away and continued eating without saying anything and I forced out a smile. "I'm very okay. How have you been too?" I lied and returned the question to him. He seemed to have noticed my facade as he frowned a little but the frown left as soon as it came and he sat down. "I've been good too." He replied and I nodded before I picked up the cutlery and started eating.

Alpha Brimstone didn't even spare me a glance as we all ate peacefully. Minutes later, Alpha Brimstone dropped his cutlery and stood up. "I'm done eating." He said but it was obvious he was talking to Alpha Zac.

Alpha Zac raised his head and nodded. "I will come and meet you when I'm done." He replied and he turned to leave but I stood up "Wait, please." I pleaded and he looked at me. He raised a brow as he gave me a questioning look. "What?" His voice was icy cold and I shivered a little but I still managed a smile as I walked over to him. "You were angry earlier. Can I apologize now?" I asked him and he looked around the room. I followed his gaze and realized the maids were around and they would have heard me.

Oh No! Alpha Brimstone frowned and sighed. "Let's talk when I return to the room later. I have a meeting to attend now." He said to me and turned to leave. Even though his voice sounded polite, I knew he was boiling inside and he would probably scold me again when he returned later. I was frustrated. I nodded my head at his retreating and let out a deep breath before returning to my seat and I sat down. Alpha Zac dropped his spoon and looked at me. "Something is wrong, isn't it?" He asked but that was only after he cast a spell in space.

I looked at the white dome around me and turned back to him with a confused look. "What's that?" I asked and he smiled. "It's a spell I learned when I was young. That should be around 955 years ago or so..." He mumbled and the expression on his face made it obvious that he missed his childhood but he shrugged it off and looked at me. "Well... It's a spell that won't let others outside the dome hear whatever we are saying inside." He explained and my eyes widened. I didn't know there was such a thing somewhere! It was amazing. I looked outside the dome and called out "Someone there! Can anyone come over from there? Hey?!" I shouted but no one was moving. Not the guards nor the maids were responding at all and my eyes lit up. "This is wonderful! So amazing!" I cheered while clapping my hands excitedly and he chuckled.

"I'm glad my little spell can lighten your mood a little." He said and smiled again. I nodded my head "You're right." I said sadly and hung my head. "What's going on between you and Lord Brimstone? You guys don't seem to be on good terms." He asked and I lowered my head more. I sucked in a deep breath while my expression turned sad. "I don't know. He did something wrong to me and I was trying to let him know it was unfair but I guess I went overboard because he got angry at me immediately. I don't know how to apologize to him." I explained to him and my eyes became moist with tears but I knew I shouldn't cry in front of Alpha Zac. Even if he was a good person to me, it was still not right to cry in front of others and I knew that.

He furrowed his brows and sighed. "What did he do wrong?" He asked and I raised my head. For some reason, I felt angry at him too. "What if he was the one that took Alpha Brimstone to the place they met the woman he did the rubbish with? They were used to being together and I know he's always with Alpha Brimstone." I mumbled inwardly. "Don't think too much. He might have no idea. Alpha Brimstone is an adult too." Edna advised me and I nodded. "Well... He slept with another woman." I replied and I saw his eyes widen. He covered his mouth and looked at me. "How did you know? Did he tell you himself?" He asked and my eyes twitched. "How did I know? Do you know about it too? Did you follow him there?" I asked him, anger surging through me and for some unknown reason, I felt betrayed. It was like my confidant had failed me.

Alpha Zac's face fell and he looked away. It was obvious he knew I was disappointed in him. "I was there but you know I can go against him. There is a limitation to advice I can give him or I might lose my head too. We are cousins but I don't have any authority over him because he is more powerful even though I'm older. "He explained and I rolled my eyes. I knew he was right but it was hard to forgive him that easily and I looked away from him. He sighed and moved close to me. "So, tell me, did he tell you that himself?" He asked and I shook my head. "He didn't. I only felt it in me and I knew something was wrong. When he returned, I asked him and he didn't deny it." I explained and he groaned.

He closed his eyes and opened it back before sighing. He carried the cup of wine on the table and was about to sip out of it when his eyes captured something on my neck and the cup fell from his hand, shattering on the ground! I flinched and stood up from my seat but he held my hand and pulled me back to sit on my seat. "What's this?" He asked with his angry eyes fixed on my neck and I frowned. "What's that?" I asked and he dipped his hand into his robe, bringing out a mirror which he handed over to me.

I collected the mirror and checked my neck and my eyes widened when I saw the bruises there. Alpha Brimstone's fingers were drawn fully on my neck and it was swollen! I dropped the mirror on the table as pains surged through my veins. Before I knew about it, I didn't feel the pain at all but after seeing it, it was like the pain was just activated and I couldn't help but groan. "It's... It's just a minor scratch." I lied but he saw through my lies and canceled the dome around us before he called on one of the maids. "Bring the..." He stopped and looked at me. "Come with me, Luna." He said and held the tip of my dress sleeve "I'm sorry." He said and we both teleported away.

We appeared in his room and he pointed at the bed. "Go sit there. I will go and get something to treat that." His voice sounded calm but I could feel the anger in his tone. He was repressing his anger and I could feel it. Not wanting to make him angrier, I nodded and walked toward his bed "Okay." I said and sat down. He teleported away from the room, leaving me alone there and I became bothered. Why was he angry? It can't be because of my bruise, is it? I was confused but one thing was obvious and it was the fact that he couldn't have been angry because of the bruise on my neck.

I started admiring the room which looked simple, yet fine and warm. His warm personality must have affected the room as it felt very peaceful and I felt sleepy already. I was almost sleeping when he reappeared in the room and walked toward me. "Can I?" He asked and I nodded. He knelt on the ground and started treating my neck while I closed my eyes. The thought of Alpha Brimstone filled my mind and I kept wondering what he must be doing at the moment. What kind of meeting he had to hold that he looked so royally dressed for? Thinking about the meeting, I opened my eyes and looked at Alpha Zac who was still busy treating my neck. "Won't you go to the meeting? Alpha Brimstone must be waiting for you already." I said but his face suddenly darkened and he didn't say a word. He continued treating the bruise and after a few minutes, he stood up and took a few steps away from me.

"It's okay now. I will come and check on it again later." He said and dropped the things he used on his table. I stood up and smiled. "Thank you very much. You are like a knight to me in this house." I said playfully but he only smiled a little

"We should leave now. No maid must see you here in my room." He said and that was when I realized what I was doing wrong. Being in another man's room when I was a Luna was a bad thing that could cause rumors and could even lead to a lot of problems. Not knowing what to do, I rushed toward him. "Let's quickly leave then," I said and he nodded before holding my hand, and the next moment, we appeared in my room. "I think this is the best place to bring you. You should rest and wait for us. The meeting will take long but I will make sure to check up on you later, okay?" He said to me and I nodded and I walked toward the bed and sat down.

"I will leave now." He said and he was about to leave when I realized I hadn't said thank you. "Thank you!" I said and he smiled. "You've said that earlier." He replied and teleported away, leaving me alone in my room while I started wondering why he was so angry again.
