Chapter 246
Theo's POV
Dad walked fast with Natalie in his arms, and she hasn't stopped crying yet. She keeps saying sorry, and many club members look at her with sorrow.
"You're fine, sweetheart," Dad says softly as we get to the hospital panic room.
"Theo, get her settled. I'm going to check on James. If you need me to call or text, He sits her down gently and kisses her head. He leaves, and I gather Natalie close, rubbing her back.
"I'm sorry, Theo," she sniffles sadly.
"Shhh, angel, I kiss her lips; please calm down. James said he loved you when he was on the ground; I heard him. He told Jack to tell you just in case he didn't make it. Know this, my angel, we fight to live, and I know James won't give up. He will come back to us, and he will love you like I love you. Now, rest, angel; you need it." She nods and snuggles into my arms. I hold her and purr. Eventually, she falls asleep, and I lay her on the couch while I make us food. I hope James survives because we both need him.
A few hours later, I get the food done and text Dad for an update. Natalie is curled up on her side asleep when the panel slides open and a hospital bed is wheeled in with James on it. He is sleeping, or at least I hope he is. Dad gets him settled in our bedroom and covers Natalie with a blanket on his way out.
"Rest up. We got her father in detox. Once he is coherent, we will question him. James is sedated, so keep an eye on him." I breathe a sigh of relief as I lock up and go check on James. He looks so pale. He looks awful, but at least he is alive. Doc comes in and checks things before he leaves. I gently wake Natalie and carry her in to see James before we sit to eat.
"He is sedated, my love," I smile, and she nods, but she looks at him with guilt.
"I caused this; he was distracted in that fight. "I'm sorry, Theo," she wipes at her cheeks. She sniffles, and I gather her in my arms and just sit holding her. I'm rubbing her back as we watch James sleep.
"I say we go eat, then chill in here with James till bedtime," she nods. As I sit here at the table, she covers her mouth and gags. "Theo," she gags and runs for the bathroom. I'm steps behind as she throws up in the toilet, and I almost smile.
I think our girl is pregnant, and I almost celebrate, but instead I gently grab her hair and hold it back. She pukes a few more times and whimpers in discomfort.
"Easy, baby, I'm right here. I got a doc coming to run tests," she sniffles and cries. I gently sit behind her and hold her hair as she vomits again. I'm praying she is okay when Doc rushes in with my dad and Jack both. She looks at her with concern.
"She's puked about four times so far," I say, rubbing her back. She whimpers and holds her belly in pain.
"Natalie, I'm gonna give you a shot to stop the puking, and I need blood after, honey," Doc says, giving her a shot. She looks miserable as she holds out her arm for him to do whatever he needs. I rub at her back, and she leans back onto me. Dad is on the floor with us, and she starts crying.
"I'm sorry," she whimpers.
"Nonsense, honey, my dad wipes her tears away. There is a lot going on. We are going to get you comfortable and pain-free." He pats her back and looks at me.
"Thanks, Dad," he smiles and lifts Natalie up to take her to a bed. Doc draws blood and covers her up after. He rushes out, and we sit waiting. When he comes back, he looks at us with a blank face, and I get worried.
"She is pregnant, and I'm recommending meds to help keep her from puking and pain meds to help with the pain in her belly. As you know, alpha pups grow fast, and it hurts the moms. I will keep a close eye on you for the whole pregnancy. Any questions?" He looks between us. Natalie bursts into sobs, and I quickly hold her.
"I'm sorry, Theo," she says over and over. Tears soak my shirt as she cries, and Dad starts to purr for her. She really thinks I'm gonna be upset she is pregnant.
"I'm not angry, angel." I kiss her head. "I'm thrilled, baby." "Everything is going to be okay," I say, watching her shake. She looks terrified.
I hold her as she cries, and I feel so happy I can't wait to share the good news with James. Dad looks in on James and comes back to talk to us until he is called away. Natalie's dad has come to and is confused. He doesn't know where he is or how he got here. He has asked for his wife and Natalie but claims he just woke up.
"I'm sorry, Theo, this is so much to take with everything going on." She looks at me, and I kiss her lips gently. I kiss her softly, getting a moan as I pull her to straddle me.
"Don't be sorry for giving me a pup, angel; it will show our love and mate relationship to each other. I'm happy with everything, and I love you. Your dad has woken up and claims he doesn't remember anything. He claims he didn't know your mother sold you." She nods as I kiss her chin. I'm trying to distract her.
"Fuck!" we jump as James yells.
"He is awake," Natalie says, smiling.
"Let's go tell him, Angel; he will be thrilled." As we head in, I carry her smiling. He groans in pain as he looks around.
"Why am I in the hospital panic room?" he asks when he sees me.
"You had internal bleeding, brother, and Doc operated on you. We got good news," I say, smiling as I put Natalie on his bed. "What?" He looks at her smiling as she takes his hand and puts it up to her face. He cups her face, and she blushes.
"Our girl is expecting our pup." He looks at us and smiles, but I sense his hesitation.
He kisses her fingers, and she scoots closer to him on his side. He kisses her head and stares at me. I hate that he looks uncertain or sad. James looks like he is ready for her to reject him.
"That is great news." He kisses her fingers. "I'm happy for you both," he smiles, and for the first time, it doesn't reach his eyes. My smile drops as he looks at her belly and touches it gently. James looks closed off, which scares me, but her first reaction to finding out he was her mate too is what has him hesitating.
I just hope the three of us can get through this.
