I chuckled and scratched my head. "Thanks, but I'm just being honest. I mean, who wouldn’t call you pretty with a face like that?"
Seemingly amused by my sweet words, the beautiful ghost glanced at Brian's soul. "Although what you say makes sense, there's no such thing as monogamy in our ghost world. I fancy him now and want to keep him by my side, but when I no longer like him, I'll naturally let him go."
That forward-thinking of hers made me want to give her a mental high-five. "But he's a living person. If you really take him away, it will leave a bad impact on you."
The beautiful ghost pondered for a moment, seemingly hesitant.
"Why waste so much time talking? Just take her down." Wesley said impatiently with a snort.
Equally impatient, Howard said, "I agree." He never had much patience for these things. "I'll give you two choices. You can willingly return his soul, or I beat you until you agree to return his soul."
The beautiful ghost looked at Howard with some apprehension.
I immediately pretended to object. "Howard, how can you say that? After all, it's not her fault; it's all Brian's fault."
Seeing the opportunity to ease the tension, the beautiful ghost cleared her throat and said, "It's not impossible to return his soul to you. I think this girl makes a good point. After all, I don't lack men."
"Exactly. A man like him doesn't deserve you at all," I quickly flattered.
Seeing my enthusiastic support, the beautiful ghost threw me a flirtatious glance. "Is this your man? He's quite protective of you. I think he's pretty good."
Suddenly, for a moment, I thought she had taken a liking to me as she threw me that flirtatious glance. But seeing Howard's face gradually darken, I quickly snapped back to reality.
In my heart, I wished she would take Howard away quickly, but I couldn't say that in front of Howard. "That's not possible. How about you choose someone else? What do you think of him?" I pointed at Wesley, hoping she would take him away.
"I don't like younger ones." the beautiful ghost shook her head.
"Yes, he's so young; he probably wouldn't serve you well." I quickly flattered.
Wesley glared at me with a dark expression.
Feeling emboldened, I retorted, "What are you looking at? It's your good fortune if she fancies you, but unfortunately, you don't even have that fortune."
The beautiful ghost floated in mid-air, grabbed Brian's soul, and disdainfully threw it back into his body.
Almost the moment his soul returned to his body, Brian woke up, staring wide-eyed at the ceiling, gasping for breath, and suddenly screamed.
Amara was frightened by his appearance and didn't dare to approach, urgently asking Aiden, "Mr. Martinez, what's wrong with my husband?"
Seeing this, Aiden shook his head regretfully. "His soul was out of his body for too long. Prolonged separation of the soul would lead to mental dullness."
Just like some children born mentally dull, they were supposed to have mind, body, and spirit, and lacking one mad them dull.
Amara stared blankly at the now unrefined Brian, and after a moment of silence, sighed. "Well, it is fine too. At least I won't have to put up with him anymore." For Amara, this might be a kind of relief.
"This house is not suitable for ordinary people to live in. You should find another place and move out as soon as possible." Before leaving, Aiden gave a reminder.
As we left the villa, I couldn't wait to ask Aiden about my performances. "Mr. Martinez, did I pass? Can I become your apprentice?"
Aiden stroked his beard. "Yes, your performance today was quite good. At least you didn't disgrace the Martinez family."
I joyfully hugged Amelia. "Amelia, I've successfully joined the ghost hunting profession."
Amelia was also very happy for me.
Then Aiden turned his gaze to the silent Wesley, "Wesley, I see you have a special constitution. Are you interested in joining the ghost hunting profession?"
Both Amelia and I were stunned, looking at Wesley in disbelief. He frowned, seemingly hesitant.
Aiden appeared very kind and friendly. "If you've got any strings attached, just spill. If it's within my power, I'll make it happen."
Wesley glanced at me, and I didn't quite understand what that look meant until I heard his next words. "I can join, but she must respect me."
I was taken aback and immediately retorted, "What do you mean? Mr. Martinez already agreed. I joined earlier than you, shouldn't you respect me more?"
Wesley ignored me and said to Aiden, "If you don't agree, then I won't join."
"Grandpa, you can't agree to this." Amelia frowned.
Aiden smiled to avoid conflict. "It's not a big deal?"
'It's important to me. Wesley has already taken the top spot in our first school exam, pushing me down from first place. Now he wants to join the ghost hunting profession and have his seniority above mine; he is clearly challenging me.' With this thought, I retorted, "If you want to join, your seniority should be below mine."
Wesley nodded slowly. "Being ranked below a weakling like you? Forget it, I'm not interested anyway."
Wesley had been able to see supernatural things since he was a child. Before this, he didn't think it was a good thing, despised by his parents because of his eyes. He never thought that one day, this supposed misfortune could bring him benefits.
"It's just a small matter," Aiden patted my shoulder. "Being the last one isn't so bad, is it?"
"Mr. Martinez," I looked at him pitifully.
Seeing this, Amelia gently tugged my sleeve. "Let it go. At least you can still join, which is better than me."
I glared at Wesley, suppressing my unwillingness.
Wesley showed a smug expression and slowly extended his hand to me. "Looking forward to working with you, Karena."
His smug expression made me grit my teeth. Looking at the hand extended towards me, I clenched my teeth and shook it firmly. "Looking forward to working with you, Wesley."
"Alright, the matter is resolved. Let's go. I'll treat you a meal," Aiden said, putting an arm around each of us and calling Amelia along.
