Chapter 321 Wife Is Most Important
Chapter 321 Wife Is Most Important
Xandra looked up and met the man's deep gaze.
"Why are you staring at me like that? What's up?"
"Come here," Frederick said.
Xandra's first thought was that this man wanted to have sex again.
She looked wary. "I'm warning you, don't try anything funny."
Frederick chuckled. "I'm going to dry your hair for you. Where's your mind going?"
Really?
She didn't believe for a second that he just wanted to dry her hair.
Xandra said, "I can dry it myself. You stay in bed and rest."
Watching her curvy figure, Frederick threw off the covers and walked over.
Without giving her a choice, he took the hairdryer from her hand, then had her sit on the sofa and started drying her hair.
The man's fingers gently brushed through her hair, tender as water.
Xandra closed her eyes, feeling the pleasant sensation on her scalp, completely relaxed.
Her hair was dry in no time.
Xandra ran her hand through it and stretched her neck and shoulders comfortably.
Then, she felt a weight on her shoulders, and the man's voice came from above.
"Neck and shoulders sore? Let me massage them for you."
Xandra's internal alarm bells went off again.
In the past, whenever he wanted to have sex, he would sweet-talk her first.
Now, he was definitely up to something again.
With that thought, she pulled Frederick's hand away and got up, moving far away from him.
"I'm telling you, your body hasn't recovered yet. You can't mess around, got it?"
This woman—today he just wanted to be nice to her, so why wouldn't she appreciate it?
Frederick smiled and walked toward her step by step, deliberately saying, "Honey, it's been so many days. There's a hot guy right here beside you—don't you want some?"
Want him? Yeah, right!
Xandra rolled her eyes dramatically. Just as she was about to speak, she felt a discomfort in her lower abdomen.
She winced and frowned unconsciously.
"What's wrong?"
"My stomach feels a bit off. My period's probably coming."
Frederick looked at her back, feeling a bit amused.
Xandra went into the bathroom to check her underwear.
No red on her underwear.
But counting the days, her period should be coming in the next day or two.
She finished up, flushed, and walked out.
Frederick was already sitting on the bed. "Did it come?" he asked.
"Yeah."
Xandra answered casually to save herself the trouble.
"Let me check," Frederick said, somewhat skeptical.
Xandra was speechless. "Are you ever going to stop? My period hasn't come yet, but it's definitely in the next day or two. Don't try anything—my stomach hurts."
Frederick looked innocent. "Honey, I'm just a sick man right now. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have the energy. I'm just worried you might be lonely."
"Thanks, but I'm not lonely at all, okay?"
Unlike him!
All he ever thought about was sex!
Xandra gave a fake smile and climbed into bed.
The pair reclined against the headboard of the bed. Frederick noticed her swiping through her phone and inquired, "Darling, would you mind if I took care of some work for a little while?"
Xandra wanted to say no, but she was afraid that if he had nothing to do, he'd start getting handsy.
With that in mind, she checked the time and said, "Half an hour."
Frederick raised an eyebrow. "Half an hour is too short. Two hours."
"No way. I'll give you ten more minutes."
"An hour and a half." Frederick bargained.
"No, forty minutes."
"At least give me an hour. Any less and I won't have time to handle things."
Xandra reflected on the fact that he was the leader of two large corporations and released a sigh so faint it was barely noticeable.
"Fine, one hour."
"Thanks, honey."
Frederick curved his lips in a triumphant smile.
When it came to negotiation skills, who could beat him?
He opened his laptop and started working.
Xandra scrolled on her phone and logged into her social media.
She'd been busy lately and hadn't had the energy to manage her account.
But there were still people in her messages asking about custom jewelry.
Xandra replied to a few messages, staring at the screen thoughtfully.
Having made up her mind to step down from her position at Russell Jewelry, she now had to consider what her subsequent step would be.
Now that she had money, she could open a physical jewelry studio.
Over the years, she'd been doing small projects online and had built up a customer base.
If she opened a physical store, she shouldn't have trouble getting business.
The question was where to open it and who to hire.
As she thought about her coworkers at Russell Jewelry, she pursed her red lips tightly.
She actually missed working with Simone and the others.
If she were to open a studio, she could totally poach a few designers.
However, that was the Russell Group we're talking about. Even if only out of consideration for Philip, she simply couldn't bring herself to do such a thing.
Frederick, working beside her, noticed Xandra had gone quiet.
He glanced over and saw her frowning, lost in thought.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Thinking about opening a shop."
Frederick raised an eyebrow slightly. "Hm? A shop?"
"Yeah, I want to open a jewelry studio."
Hearing this, Frederick nodded. "Sounds good. I support you. However big you want to go, I'll invest."
Xandra considered her present personal fortune, which amounted to tens of billions of dollars. "I have no need for your financial backing. I already possess more than enough money now."
Frederick laughed. "True, you're a rich woman worth tens of billions now. You're the one calling the shots."
Xandra lifted her chin without modesty. "When we get back, I'll look for a good location."
Frederick thought for a moment and offered a suggestion.
"The Russell Group building has plenty of tenants. You can pick any spot you like."
Set up my boutique inside the Russell Group's own building? Xandra shot him a look. "Sweetheart, if I establish my store right on your territory, aren't you concerned that I might end up competing directly against Russell Jewelry?"
Frederick curved his lips. "Fair competition. I believe your studio will be a dark horse."
Xandra thought about it. "Never mind, I don't want to open there."
"Why not?"
Xandra lowered her eyes. "If I open a shop there, what's the difference from working there?"
Frederick's expression paused. He understood what she meant.
She'd resigned from the Russell Jewelry to avoid complications.
If she still went in and out of there every day, wouldn't she still run into Lucas all the time?
His original thought was that the Russell Group was his.
It was only natural for his wife to open a shop there.
But now...
Frederick paused briefly before responding, "Didn't Tony purchase a building back in our hometown? That site ought to be quite favorable as well."
Xandra quickly adjusted her thoughts.
Remembering that her father had transferred all his assets to her, that building should belong to her too.
She could do whatever she wanted with it.
This feeling of being able to spend freely—she still wasn't quite used to it.
She was really afraid of getting spoiled.
"I'll get started on it when we get back."
Frederick acknowledged with a sound.
Xandra shot him a look and purposely inquired, "Darling, would it be alright if I recruited a few people away from you? For instance, taking Simone and my personal assistant along with me?"
"Up to you," Frederick said without objection.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"That generous?"
Her eyes sparkled. Frederick leaned slightly toward her, pulling her into his arms and lowering his head to kiss her.
"Of course. My wife comes first."
