Chapter 100 : Creating news
Chapter 100 : Creating news
Lena POV
"Let's follow him" she muttered controlling me to turn back and I saw him, his icy eyes had me trapped.
"No, he's by the door..."
My phone rang as I'd taken it out of my pocket to answer it.
It was Aaron.
"Hey, the cops are here, they'd want an interrogation with the royal house"
"Do they have the right to?"
He swallowed over the phone as I was still staring at Adam but he'd walk pass me, to wherever he intended to go.
"Remember, you changed the rule that cops had the rights to interrogate members of the ruling house. I knew that was a dump idea." He muffled as I could hear murmurs from his background but it was replaced by thrumming sound of a bike.
Adam.
"Let me drop you off..."
"Hey is that Adam! Don't tell me you're with him" I terminated the call, pouted my lips at Adam.
"You yelled at me back there" I argued, acting all sassy and placing my phone back.
"I'm sorry Lena. Let me drop you off, to make up for it"
"And you're not running off Adam" I added stomping towards his bike as I yanked myself on it.
"Something came up, I only got time to take you there, not stay" he responded handing me a helmet which I wore.
I didn't want to touch him and so I'd placed my hand on the grab rail.
"Try making him stay Lena. He smells of rot" Athena fires as she was restless pacing to and fro, somewhere inside me.
I should get rid of her.
"I order you to stay" I whispered before thinking of it.
"And if I disobey?" He asked, turning to look at me and I was short for words.
"He'd be locked up" Athena communed just so I tell it to him but I said;
"You know, do your thing, I might just have you kicked out of the palace soon. I need to breath from people who don't value me"
He let out a breath, I knew he'd want to say something else but kept it to himself.
I didn't know where he carried a sweatshirt from and the next thing, he'd use it to tie me to it.
"I don't want my alpha falling off my bike"
I rolled my eyes but let out a sided smile as he faced the track. Then he took off in the speed of the night.
In no time, we arrived at the palace. No much commotion but I knew if I'd go in... it's definitely a war zone.
Hastily, I climbed down, taking off my helmet.
"I smell cops" he suddenly muttered as he slowly takes the helmet from me.
"Yeah, they want to interrogate adae after Aaron screwed up earlier today by declaring that the video was real"
He smirked at me, his eyes dropped to my lips, I swear I saw them there.
"So you want to play hero?"
I bite my lower lips and then turned to look at the palace, then back at him.
"I'm still thinking of a news to give them...that will take their mind off the current one"
"Do you need my help?"
Athena was quiet now, possibly because it sounded like he'd be staying in the palace tonight.
I just felt that she wanted him to stay because she still wants to spend more time with him.
"Will you help me?"
He suddenly held my wrist, pulling me closer to him and his other arm went around my waist.
I was startled by that but then, he pulled his face closer to me and captured my lips.
It was slow... passionate and wonderful.
Never felt anything like it, never felt my wolf this startled. Even the helmet on him wasn't an hindrance.
I'd almost grabbed his shirt when he terminated too quickly.
"You want them to forget about the omega onslaughter...give them a different story" he whispered beneath his breath but I was still dazed, still lost as everything about me screams!
"Good night"
I didn't process that and by the time I did, he drove off.
Shit!! He just kissed me right outside the palace! Not scared that anyone could recognize him.
He was wilder than I thought and Athena was ready to kill me.
"You kissed him!"
I wasn't walking straight, I was thinking of the kiss! Fuck! Could it be longer.
My crush just kissed me.
I blushed, smiling at the maids and guards we'd welcome me back to the palace.
They were startled by how excited I was but I knew they saw. Just that the helmet hide the sides of Adam's face not to be seen.
Now the gossip will start.
I walk into the courtroom like I own the air in it.
Because I do.
Adae sat at the steel table, mug of coffee gone cold in front of him. Two officers across from him, one with a recorder, one with a badge and a jaw made for bad news.
The rest of the room was a wall of my stepbrothers.
Ace rubbing his neck. Guilty tell.
Aaron’s lips were thinned, bloodless line. Holding back.
Adain glowered at the cops like he had already picked where to bury them.
Adae? Adae scoffed when he saw me, but his knee is bouncing under the table. Scared.
And Ashar.
Ashar saw me and the gloom cracks. His whole face lights up like I hung the moon just by existing.
He was on his feet before anyone else, crossing the room like he’ll personally carry me to the throne.
Everyone stands.
Respect isn’t given to alpha. It’s taken And Ashar just gave it to me in front of law enforcement.
His palm lands on my back, warm, possessive, guiding me to the chair right next to Adae. I didn't sit yet.
“Sit,” I ordered.
They all do. Cops included. Muscle memory. They didn't even realize it.
I took Adae’s mug. Sip. Cold. Bitter.
Perfect. I set it down between us and pulled the serious face from my arsenal.
The one that made Adam kiss me earlier. The one that forgets that kiss exists.
“May I know the reason for this invasion?” My voice cuts in an alpha tone.
The lead officer clears his throat. “Ma’am, we’re investigating the omega onslaught at the warehouse district. Three dead. The video feed places Delta Adae at the scene, hosting. It wasn’t a glitch.”
Ace rubbed his neck harder. Aaron’s eyes closed. Adain’s glare could strip paint. Adae scoffed again, louder.
And Ashar? Ashar was staring at me like I’m the goddamn solution.
