Chapter 36

Cayla

Once I got word from my spy who I bought off in Grays little family of criminals, that Angel was now in Sedona for a vacation that Gray paid for, I decided to send a decoy there in my place. This decoy of mine was in charge of playing the 'boss' role. In other words, acting as me. In this, they were tasked with not only keeping tabs on Gray, Angel, and her family. But also distracting them.

Well, she didn't really need to distract the family since I was more than sure they didn't know anything about Angel being in danger. That a woman was looking to kill her. Any smart person could guess this, all you have to do is put yourself in Gray's shoes and ask yourself, 'would you tell Angel's parents that you put her in danger?' I would think not.

And for distracting my main audience, well the best way to do that would be to make them believe they snooped out my spy. When in reality, it was me who led them straight to her with a second spy. Then finally, they would need to think I'm there in Sedona watching her, but not believe it.

You see, my decoy, Annastasia is set up in a luxury home. Living the expensive life of someone who's in charge of a big project. All she has to do is stay out of the way. While I do everything from my house in Washington D.C. Until I give her the go ahead to do what she is actually stationed there for.

As you know, I am currently in hiding, and having people you can tell to do this or that for you is a great way to still get things done while I'm in hiding.

And once I am done, Gray and their wretched little family won't think of me too much as just some spoiled rish girl who got in her daddy's money and is a little bit too in over her head. Trust and believe that I know exactly what I am doing. If I didn't, Gray would have killed me by now. I don't plan to make it so easy.

"They already took the bait. Our spy says that Gray killed the woman themselves."

Annastasia informed me on the other line of my phone. I was sitting behind my desk, looking over paperwork, letters, and bills while I listened to her speak.

"Good. In a little less than a month now, I'll be giving you the signal to do what I have you stationed there for. And, if you fail me Anna, it'll be you who dies that night instead."

"Don't fret boss, I'm good at what I do. And failing to kill someone isn't something I've ever done in my life."

"Yeah, so let's not let that start when I give you the word, Miha."

After the phone hung up, I placed it on my desk next to me and picked up my mug filled with coffee. I've recently been staying up through the nights instead of sleeping so that I could continue making plans on how I would end Angel's misserable life for her.

Really, she should be honored that I am doing her this kind charity.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of my office as I was sipping the still steaming liquid inside of my mug that read, "Best Daughter." Then it opened and large man entered the room. He had a pistol in the pants of his waist, he was big with muscle that protruded through his shirt. Giving it the appearance of being too small for the man, just barely.

He joined me in front of my desk. Not a peep of welcome or a nice to see you came from him.

"Well Smiley, why are you here?"

I asked, placing my mug back on my desk in the spot I grabbed it from. My elbows propped onto the desk in front of me, and my fingers intertwined with one another as I only looked at him with curious eyes.

"I wasn't expecting you to get here so early."

"Boss is leaving Josh with all of their plans for the day."

Smiley said once they came to a sudden stop in front of my desk. Their legs parted as they held their hands in front of them by the wrists. I've always noticed how well-dressed Grays men were, they weren't sloppy and never were disrespectful out of the mouth really. They hardly even quarreled or fought in their own ranks. And they never, ever, ever questioned Gray on their decisions. What Gray did with their family's legacy was something immaculate.

Not something you often saw from someone who became leader at such a young age, I'm sure.

"I don't want to hear about Gray. Tell me more about Angel's family. I'm quite interested."

"What do you need to know about her family for? Isn't Angel the one you need information on?"

Smiley raised a stoic thick brow at me. His face never contorting, and his body language forever unchanging aside from that one brow. His sudden question caused for a snicker to escape me, quickly I covered my mouth with a hand to hold back anymore that attempted to leave me. Then, I stood from my seat pushing it back with my legs on it's wheels.

With one deep breath to force down the laughter, my attention finally returned to Smiley. I walked around my desk, my hands together in front of me. My eyes forever trained on him.

"Smiley.."

I began with a cheeky giggle. Once I was in front of my desk, in front of Smiley I stopped. The heels on my feet coming together at the ankle so my toes were perfectly aligned.

"That isn't something that should concern you. It doesn't concern you in fact. Just because you *agreed* to help me keep tabs on Angel, doesn't mean you are my equal and get to know all of my plans by every little spec of a detail."

"Now, if you don't mind. Tell me a little more about this family of Angels. As you know, I am quite fond of Angel, so it only makes sense that her gorgeous family interests me of course."

I pushed myself up onto my desk and crossed my legs once over the other. My hands coming together as an expression that spilled my interest to Smiley played. Though it was far less telling and positive than those of my words.

It was dull with not a smile in sight. Not even the slightest curve on my lips could be painted on a canvas if I were to have my portrait done.

"Well, there isn't much to tell. Aside from Angel, there are four of them. Her mother Talia C. Vae, her father Christopher Vae, and her two brothers Jaheem Vae and Kareem Vae. They are from Boston Massachusetts; Angel is the only one who was born in New York. They are her Immediate family of course. They don't have any pets. Christopher And Talia aren't married yet."

I nodded at this newly acquired information, not that it was entirely useful to me. I didn't need it for any particular reason, I was just being nosy.

It's best to know as much as possible about your target in case you need to use any information for blackmail, you know.

"Boss, A woman is on the phone for you. Talking about wanting to schedule some kind of meeting with you? I asked her for what reason and she wouldn't say."

Pedro opened the door to my office as I was just finishing taking in the information provided to me, he stepped in. Only took a step in and stayed at the door as he spoke. He was dressed in black, similarly to Smiley.

"Alright, thank you. I will be right there. Smiley, you should hurry back home, I doubt your boss would be ok with finding out you have been ratting to me about him and their little whore. Off you go now."

Smiley replies with what sounded like a "huff" of agreement. Taking a turning step, he was out of my office. In which I quickly took the moment to hop off of my desk, round it and grab my coat. Throwing it on and fixing my hair out of it, I too left my office.

I soon met up with Pedro down the stairs. He followed me outside filling me in about when and where the meeting he spoke of prior was scheduled.

"Did the woman say her name?"

"No ma'am."

"Quite suspicious. Make sure that six men accompany me this afternoon to this meeting, I don't need to get killed by one of grays undercover dogs if it is an ambush. Also, track that line if you can so we can see where the caller called from. It would have been smarter for you to do that without me wasting my breath to tell you to do it."

I hummed out, taking a pair of shades from one of the men I walked up in and put them on as I came closer to a parked SUV just outside the mansion I stayed in.

Then, that same man pulled open the backseat door, and I climbed in.

"Oh, one last thing Pedro. Make sure my dog is fed. Thank you."
