Chapter 99 Chapter 99
Violet
I looked at my phone again, specially my mailbox for the hundredth time since shooting that mail to Mirella.
She hadn’t replied yet and I kept wondering if she had read it and chose to not reply me or was truly busy with work.
I could have been at my desk, discussing new designs with Amber and getting approvals from Dean and Mr William.
Instead I was being forced to go shopping with women I didn’t know. Atleast, Cassie was around.
“Dont leave my side even for a minute, okay?” I warned her and she nodded as both the aunts left the little boy with an Ipad to play games so that he wouldn’t disturb them.
“Ensure he doesn’t leave this room and if he complains, just give him more food.” Aunt Rosy ordered one of the maids as he happily gobbled down fries and pizza.
Nicole came strutting into the large common hall, wearing high heels and a tight fitted jeans, alongwith a halter neck blouse, talking to someone over the phone.
“No, no. I told you I dont want anything from the old collection. Everything has to be from the new one. In fact, I may place a special order for the dress. I need something unique.”
She was mumbling about brands and prestige while the two aunts watched her curiously.
“Oh no, you don’t understand. I will reach there and explain myself. Wait for me!”
She shook her head in frustration, mumbling something about incompetent sales people and finally her gaze landed on the two women.
“Oh my Goddess, when did you arrimve? I am so sorry, I didn’t come to meet you sooner.”
She went ahead to hug the aunts but neither of them opened their arms wide for her so she stopped in front of them with an awkward smile.
Aunt Thelma gave her an assessing look.
“So you are the bride”
Nicole nodded. “I am. Did you have a safe journey? I hope you didn’t have any trouble arriving here.”
She asked sweetly but Aunt Rosy scoffed.
“This is my brother’s place. Why would I have trouble arriving here?”
Aunt Thelma added. “Its like she thought we would get lost in the place we lived way before than she was born.”
The two cackled, aiming for a high five that made Nicole’s confident smile waver.
“So, ladies are you ready?”
Nate’s voice reached us as he approached from the left corridor.
“Ahh, Nate. Come here. I can’t wait to introduce you to my aunts.”
Nate acted all sweet and docile as he ran towards her and pulled her into a side hug.
“And who these wonderful women might be?”
Nicole fumbled. “I told you long back, didn’t I? These are my aunts.”
Nate looked at them and gasped.
“These are your aunrts. No way, I mistook them for your younger sisters.”
He then gave them both a cheesy smile and extended a hand.
Both the aunts were more than happy to receive so much attention.
They both slipped their hands in his which he kissed, earning their smiles in an instant while Nicole’s face turned into a scowl to be called middle aged.
Cassie and I were just standing aside, watching it all unfold and giggled together.
“Oh, how many people are we in total again? Six right? I’ll get keys for the big SUV.”
A servant came rushing forward to offer him the key but I quickly added.
“I think you both should go with the aunts. Their choice would be far better than anything I or Cassie suggest.”
Bot the aunts looked at me and nodded but Nate quickly replied.
“I am sure that is the case but we aren’t very familiar with the area and Cassie has been here several times so its fitting that you both join us as well.”
Cassie tried to drop him his act.
“Oh come on, its not like you will choose whatever we suggest if you dont like it yourself? Why waste time?”
She was blunt like that.
I almost chuckled.
Nicole did her signature guilt trap.
“Its okay, Nate. I just wanted to make amends and spend more time with the girls but if they don’t want to, we should not force them.”
She lowered her head and pretended to wipe her eyes while Nate coddled her.
“Now, you are making the bride cry. Come on, it will be fun. Please?”
His voice sounded so earnest and genuine if not for the fact that I knew what a rotten snake he was on the inside.
Seeing their act, the aunts fell for it and we had no choice but to go with them.
Nate pretended to be a gentleman and let the aunts get in the huge car alongwith Cassie and Nicole.
But when it was my turn he quickly tapped on my shoulder.
“I think you should sit beside me. You are good at navigation and I’ll get lost in these unfamiliar roads.”
I rolled my eyes at him.
“Keep your hands off me or I will tell them you are my ex and then you have to do the explaining, not me.”
Nate seemed unfazed.
“I really need to talk to you about something. Please. When all these ladies are busy in the trial room, please give me five minutes. I know something that will save your pack.”
That line got my attention.
“What is that? And how do I know you are not tricking me?”
He tried to inch closer and whispered low. “I will explain. I cant tell you anything in the manor with so many maids and servants running around. But outside, I can.”
“Still doesn’t mean, I am going to sit beside you. Get your fiance to navigate for you.”
Before he could try anything again, I loudly shouted.
“Nicole, your fiance feels like he would get lost. Can you sit with him and navigate for him? Use the maps feature on your phone.”
The ladies all let out a laughter collectively upon hearing how Nate couldn’t even figure out maps.
Nicole stepped outside and grumbled about how he had interrupted her time discussing important bridal collection while I quickly slipped into her spot.
The ride was extremely smooth and the route was also fairly straight because when Nicole told him to go right, he took a left despite not looking for directions.
That told me he had been lying to get me to sit close to him.
That creep!
I checked my email once again for any new communication from Mirella but there was still nothing. My mailbox was decidedly empty.
Meanwhile, I heard Cassie mutter under her breath.
“Forget about you, even I feel pissed to be here. I should have never agreed to come here or bring you along just because Lady Aurelia asked me to.”
She shook her head while the two aunts were busy gossiping with each other.
“Wait what?” I asked in a shocked voice.
