Chapter 98 Chapter 98
Violet
Cassie was the first to step forward and speak.
“You looked like you wanted to reach through the screen and murder someone.”
A lady, who looked middle aged with shoulder length hair and wearing a long flowy sundress with an extra large hat echoed.
“Yeah, one minute we were getting a tour of the manor and the next you just barged in and plopped in the bed like you were at a war with yourself. It was funny to watch. Much better than the spooky walls and troubled history contained in this old piece of junk.”
I didn’t know what to say to that at first.
“She pushed me away while walking in like an angry bear” A small boy, sucking on a lollipop said, pointing at me.
Cassie pulled him closer and tried to pacify him.
“No, she didn’t. She just wanted to get to her work fast enough.”
Another woman gave me a snobbish look and replied. “So what? Do you just push kids away? That is rude!”
Cassie looked at me and clapped her hands.
“You both are so funny, aunt Thelma and Rosy.”
Aunt Rosy pulled the boy closer and ran a hand over his face.
“You aren’t hurt right? Should we throw her in the dungeons?”
My eyes widened in surprise.
I had not even seen the boy nor intended to push him.
Cassie laughed loudly again. “Aunt Rosy, calm down. She is the event organizer and maid of honor for this wedding. You want her on your side, don’t you?”
Cassie gave her a wink and Aunt Rosy suddenly looked interested.
“Oh my, my, is she the one?”
She theatrically placed a hand on her chest and approached me.
“The name is Rosy. And that is my sister Thelma. We are Alaric’s sisters. The rest of the family will arrive in a few days as per their availability."
I nodded and extended a hand towards her.
“I am truly sorry for not noticing you earlier. It was stupid of me.”
I hoped neither of these women would run to Alaric to complain about me.
Aunt Thelma linked her hand with mine and replied.
“Oh dont you worry, dear. I understand the stress of arranging such a high profile wedding. You should be clearly overworked but fear not, we both are here to help. Consider us your right and left hand respectively.”
“Yeah, anything that will keep us busy. We don’t really like being here.”
I wanted to ask why they thought this place was spooky or didn’t like being here but they were looking at me hopefully and I gave them an awkward smile.
“Cassie is overexaggerating. I am just the maid of honor but I believe the bride and Lady Aurelia are the event organizers.”
I really didn’t believe either of the two women would let ,me do anything. Not that I wanted to even be here in the first instance.
But that line made their faces fall.
“No way is that stupid Lia the organizer. She can’t even tell hot pink from baby pink.”
Both of them cackled like banshees while I only stared at them with a stunned expression because it took me a minute to realize they were talking about Lady Aurelia like that.
“I mean look at this room, it's hideous. Where is the color coordination? Her color choice like her title is outdated after the last time….”
Aunt Rosie was about to say more but then Aunt Thelma stopped her.
“Relax, do you want to share everything right away? We have a month to do that.”
The two cackled some more while Cassie pulled me to the side.
“The two sisters don't really like Lady Aurelia because obviously, ladies are like that. They don't like their brothers giving importance to other woman.”
I shook my head. “Not all, I like you, don’t I?”
I smiled at her reassuringly and Cassie laughed too until she suddenly gasped dramatically.
“Wait, did you just admit to being Elijah’s wife?”
Her voice had grown loud and I quickly elbowed her to silence her but the sisters had heard her shriek and came running towards us for more gossip.
“What happened? Did you just find out about some celebrity gossip?”
"No, we were talking about mundane stuff. Work etc.”
Meanwhile the little kid shouted. “I am getting bored here. And hungry. Where is my pizza?”
His mother, Rosy, coddled him and replied. “Oh, let's get this hungry pup fed first. Violet, then let us plan to visit a few luxury boutiques and showrooms later.”
Ugh, I hated shopping. Especially looking for expensive labels and designer wear that cost a lot.
“Though who will take us? I am not going with drivers. Eww, that's so low class.”
Aunt Thelma slapped her sister’s shoulder.
“Let's get the groom to drive us around.”
Oh no, the last thing I needed was a day trip with Nate.
