CHAPTER FORTY FIVE
Anya's POV.
The dungeon was no friendly place to me, but it couldn't be worse than seeing your parents die in front of you, the guards rattling at the bars of the cell to disorientate me, the nerve blocker on my wrist serving to stop me from shape shifting, I sigh as I dangled from the chains that held me up, rattling from every quick movement.
"I hope you get the punishment you deserve." One of the guards patrolling said, stopping in front of my cell, he spat into it with all of the disgust he felt towards me, I kept mute, watching him from the scattered hair across my face, the only I had through out the day when I dozed off into a tired sleep.
I opened my eyes to find myself by the mountains side, the sun setting, saying it's goodbye as it had completed it's round for the day, the wind whispering to me through the trees.
"I thought I was in prison, I whispered to myself as I looked around, folding my hands around myself as the wind blew harder, chills filling my spine, when a familiar voiced whispered through the wind.
"You think you can escape me?" He asked as he laughed at me, stalking me, his eyes glinting in the darkness from time to time, "I told you, you couldn't escape me." He laughed loudly. I turn to the direction of the voice.
"Show your face old man." I growl in to the increasing darkness, "I've killed you before and I'll kill you again." I continued, maintaining my show of bravado to hide my fear, "Wake up, Wake up, Anya, this is a dream." I tried to shake myself up, remembering how it happened the last time.
"No one is coming to save you." He laughed maniacally as he spoke, materializing from the darknesss into a solid form, his face twisted in mockery. I lunged at him, attempting to catching off guard, only dropping to the floor after he phased through me, he turned to laugh at me as I scrambled to my feet.
"What's this?" I mused, looking at my hands and then at him, he walked towards me.
"Oh Anya, my dear Anya, when would you learn?" He said, swipjy hard at me, his smile plastered to his face, I raise my hands to block the blow, the blow taking me off my feet and throwing me against a tree trunk, the wind knocked out of windpipe, I felt pain, I tried to scream, but my vocal chords wouldn't, my hand shook from the pain as I forced myself to get up, breathing heavily, I turn to where his was to find him gone, my hands hung limply to my side. I shape shift immediately, dropping on all fours, my bone cracking as it healed.
"You never do learn, do you?" His voice mixing with the wind, my ears twitch to direction, I lunge blindly towards that direction, crashing against a tree trunk, I shake my head to clear my it, when he appeared mysteriously behind me, grabbing me by my snout, he pulled me up, forcing his knees to my side, the force throwing me some distance away, he laughed as I tumbled across the floor. I return to my human form, holding my side, pain shooting through my nerves from that point.
"I can't do this." I said to myself, turning away from where he was, I began to trudge, then a jog and I was one with the wind.
"Where do you think you're going to?" He asked, screaming as the distance between us increased.
"Anywhere away from you." I muttered as I ran away, his voice seemingly inexistent as I got away. Ran for a while when I got to a point, there's was no way ahead, just a long drop from that point to a miserly death, I turn around to take another path to see him standing in front of me.
"Done running, Anya?" He asked, the smile still stuck on his face. I charge at him, to pass through him as before when he caught my hand, yanking me by the hand toward him, his head crashing with so hard, I literally crumpled, complimenting the attack with a heavy left hand jab that sent me flat to the ground. He picked me up by the neck, lifting me away from the ground, my feet dangling as he held me over the edge of the cliff.
"Don't do this." I sputtered out as much as my tightly squeezed vocal cords could let me as my hands scrambled across his to get a hold.
"It's time to go." He said, his maniacal smile turning to a somber face as he let me go, a piercing scream escaping my lips as I tumbled into the chasm when a wake up, screaming a voiceless scream, the chains rattling with my movements.
"It's just a dream." I repeated while trying to catch my breath, realized I had stopped breathing at some point. I let my head fall limply on realizing I was still in my prison cell, the nightmare memories finding a spot in my mind to torment me, just at that moment someone rasped against my cell door, I raise up my head to see the person.
"Susanne." I muttered on seeing her let herself into my cell.
"A nice place you've got here." She said as she walked towards me until she was standing in front of me.
"What do you need, Susanne?" I asked her, raising my eyes to meet hers, I was down didn't mean I would be down for long.
"I had come to check on you." She said, a sly smile on her face.
"And you have seen enough, haven't you?" I asked again.
"Yes, I have seen enough." She answered, "It's a nice place and I think you would be spending a really long time in it, if not the rest of your miserable life." She continued, chuckling softly.
"If that's all you've come to say, you can leave now." I said resignedly, turning my face away from hers.
"That's not all, Anya." She said with a smile.
"Get on with what you want to say and leave me to fuck alone." I growled at her, completely infuriated by her presence, the nerve bracelet tasing me for growling, the chains rattling as I spasmed for a while, I catch my breath to see her smiling.
"With you out of the way, Damian would be mine, all mine." She said with a chuckle.
"Not a chance." I laughed softly.
"What did you say?" She asked as she walked closely to me, her face close to mine.
"Not a chance." I repeated, spitting straight to her face, she stumbled, then caught herself before she tumbled over, "Damian can never and will never be yours." I continued, spitting to the ground when I was done talking. She walked over to where I was, sending a slap to my face, and a jab to my midsection, knocking the air from my lungs. I coughed out trying to catch my breath, she walked back for some distance, then came around with a round house kick, sending me smashing into the walls of the dungeon, the chains biting into my skin as I swung with it, trying hard to catch my breath.
"Fuck!" She cursed loudly and stormed out of the cell, locking the door in place. I let my body try to deal with the pain as I wheezed through.
"This should be over soon." I muttered to myself as I tried to catch myself with my feet to stop me from swinging like a chandelier.
