"Playing the video for too long will drain the points that have been collected. Would you like to stop?"
The system alert sounded just as Arthur was about to play another reenactment video. The system screen again displayed two options that Arthur had to choose from.
'STOP.'
'CONTINUE.'
Not caring if he would lose points or even lose physical strength, Arthur still chose to continue. He wanted to see what the agreement between Chloe and her father was like.
Arthur selected the video in question and opened it. The man's body became transparent again. This time the place in the background of the video is a beautiful resort overlooking the beautiful blue sea.
Young Chloe is seen sitting on a chaise lounge holding a glass of drink, while her stomach appears to be bulging. It seemed to be the moment when she was pregnant with Dave.
From another direction, someone called Chloe's name. Arthur turned his head towards the source of the voice. Jordan approached Chloe carrying a document.
"How did it go, honey?" Chloe asked Jordan.
"We did it, honey. The people we worked with managed to make my in-laws lose everything. Now they have no more power to pressure us." Jordan said.
Chloe laughed happily as she rubbed her bulging belly.
"They're finally broken too. How could they ask me to abort. Even though it came from the same seed, this child is far more precious than the one Liliana gave birth to." Chloe muttered with an evil expression.
Jordan only responded by giving his mistress a hot kiss. However, Chloe ended it before their actions went any further.
"Why?" asked Jordan as Chloe seemed to resist his touch.
"You didn't forget our agreement, did you?" Chloe asked.
"Of course not, darling. I always remember that it has been my life's purpose," Jordan said as she continued her fondling.
"When our child is born, you must get rid of Liliana and marry me legally. Our child should be the heir to everything you have now," Joana warned.
"Of course, darling. Don't worry, we can just arrange for Liliana's shares to be transferred to me. After that, I'll divorce her. I'll also change the terms of our marriage contract secretly. She won't demand anything later. I can dispose of her without having to give her anything." Jordan smiled slyly.
Chloe was very happy to hear Jordan's cunning plan for Liliana. She also did not hesitate to give an additional suggestion that was no less cunning.
"Then what about your son with Liliana? Won't he be a stumbling block for us?" Chloe asked. "Can't we just finish him off before he understands anything and becomes a problem for us in the future?"
Jordan was transfixed and a little stunned at Chloe's suggestion which was a bit out of her mind. But to him, what Chloe said did have a point. The child Liliana gave birth to would definitely be a problem when she grew up. Getting rid of him now would be much easier. However, Arthur was his flesh and blood after all. There was a bit of affection in his heart that he couldn't bear to hurt that innocent child.
"Arthur is my son too, darling. I can't just get rid of him. I promise, he won't be a problem for us. If that happens, then I'll get rid of him myself." Jordan finally answered.
Chloe was obviously not satisfied with Jordan's response of not being willing to get rid of Arthur. But she smiled as if it was not a problem.
"Well, I respect your decision. But just remember that you will have to love our son more than Liliana's son," Chloe said.
"That's for sure. Our child is worth more than anything, sweetheart." Jordan said as he rubbed Chloe's stomach.
Chloe laughed again, especially when Arthur told her about his evil plan. They looked like a couple of demons from hell.
"But I don't feel completely relieved now that your in-laws have fallen, Jordan. He could be getting help from someone we don't know about." Chloe sighed uneasily.
"What do you mean?" asked Jordan cluelessly.
"Can you really remove them from this world?" Chloe asked back in a voice that sounded so sweet, even though the words she said were horrible.
Jordan paused for a moment and digested Chloe's request.
"Remove them from this world?" muttered Jordan.
Chloe nodded with a hopeful smile, as if removing a human from this world was a natural thing.
"Do you feel bad that they gave you a company?" Chloe asked.
Jordan shook his head. "No, it's not like that. I just don't want us to get in trouble if we get caught."
"Then we'll make sure we don't get caught," Chloe said.
Jordan paused for a moment, then smiled meaningfully at her girlfriend.
"Right, let's make them leave this world without getting caught," Jordan muttered with a grin.
Arthur stopped the video reenactment even though it wasn't finished. He was sure that what happened next in the video would be even more disgusting. Now it was clear that the departure of his grandparents and the bankruptcy of his mother's parents' company were the result of Jordan and Chloe's actions.
No wonder Dave has grown up to be an equally shameless person. His half-brother had been raised by a pair of cunning and venomous snakes, so he too had grown up to be exactly like the two people who had raised him.
At this point, Arthur became very sorry for his mother. Liliana had been caught up in Jordan and Chloe's plan, used in such a heartless way, and had lost both her parents to the man she called her husband. The one who was supposed to be her protector and the one she leaned on.
"How could I be born from the seed of an asshole," Arthur sighed in frustration. He still clearly remembered how Jordan had also considered eliminating his young self.
No wonder the system had given him a very stern warning earlier, even asking him to prepare himself mentally. Apparently that was the crazy story behind her life that she didn't know about.
Luckily, Jordan was no longer in this world. If not, Arthur didn't know how to deal with his biological father.
Not wanting to linger with his shock, Arthur refocused on his goal of requesting information on the system, which was to find out what Dave was really looking for right now.
"I know that all of these video reenactments are important, but which one can provide the answers to my current curiosity?" Arthur asked the system.
"Requesting information through the videos with more specificity will cost you more points." The system gave an answer. The system screen displayed the options again.
'CONTINUE.'
'STOP.'
Arthur still chose to continue his information search. The system screen continued loading for a while, even longer than before.
After taking up to a minute, a video appeared. A reenactment video that would be the answer to Arthur's current question.
Before opening the video, Arthur first took a few deep breaths because he was very sure that the scene in the video would shock him again.
After that, Arthur reached out his hand and pressed play. His body became transparent again and his apartment instantly turned into a hospital room.
Jordan, who already looked middle-aged, was lying in the hospital with no one to look after him. Arthur remembered that this seemed to be the time when his father had a sudden heart attack. At the time, Arthur was continuing his education abroad.
Shortly after, Liliana entered the room and sat by Jordan's bedside. The look on Arthur's mother's face was flat, showing no sadness or worry at all like a wife whose husband had just suffered a heart attack.
"Are you coming, Lili?" asked Jordan in a low voice.
"Yes," Liliana replied indifferently. "When else can I see your arrogant self lying helpless?" Liliana continued sarcastically.
Jordan wanted to laugh at that, but of course all that came out of her mouth was a gasp. He never thought there would be a time when Liliana would see him in such a helpless state.
"Are you happy now?" Jordan asked.
"Not really, because what you're going through right now is nothing compared to what you've done to me and my parents." Liliana replied sharply. Apparently she already knew that what happened to her and her parents was her husband's doing.
"But seeing you finally find out that the child you've been loving with all your heart isn't yours, that's pretty exciting too. If I had known that, I would have revealed it to you long ago." Liliana added with a faint smile.
Jordan stared for a moment at the woman who was still his wife. He was able to say no more. All this time, the child Chloe gave birth to was his priority even though Chloe was only his second wife. He even planned to transfer all assets to Chloe and Dave's name.
It was a big blow for Jordan to find out that Dave was not his biological son. The DNA test he secretly conducted on Dave turned out to lead him to the truth if Dave was the son of another man who until then was even still in contact with Chloe.
Chloe, that woman had deceived and used Jordan just as Jordan had deceived and used Liliana and her parents all along.
"I'm sorry, Lili." Jordan finally said the word sorry after all this time of hurting Liliana, even attempting to eliminate the woman despite failing.
Instead of being touched, Liliana laughed as if Jordan's apology was something very funny.
"There's no point in you apologizing to me, Jordan, because I will never forgive you. What you've taken from me all these years will never come back." Liliana said.
"If you can't forgive me, can Arthur forgive me?" Jordan then asked shamelessly.
Liliana was silent for a moment. Arthur had no knowledge of his father's foul deeds. Of course for Arthur there was nothing to forgive except Jordan's not-so-warm attitude towards him.
"For Arthur, it depends on what you can do for him. Haven't you been making him feel like a stepchild all this time?" Liliana snapped.
Jordan felt slapped, but she also seemed to gain hope from Liliana's words. Hope for a forgiveness that was almost impossible.
"I'll transfer all assets into Arthur's name. And Dave's DNA test results, I'll let you keep them so Chloe doesn't dare mess with you," Jordan finally said.
"Oh, really?" Liliana asked half mockingly. Even if Jordan gave them to Arthur, didn't they come from Liliana's parents? Jordan was just giving them back, right?
"This time, I won't waste Arthur again, Lili. Trust me," Jordan said.
