Chapter 30
Ken's POV
I needed to think, I assured Zoe and told her to rest. Heading straight to the training room, I pulled off my shirt and decided to train more than usual. I was frustrated from being unable to change into my wolf. It was driving me crazy. The change I was forced to go through on that day was unforgettable.
Flashback 'Thirteen years ago'
"Kenzi, it's time." my father's voice echoed in the training room, located below the west wing of the pack house. It wasn't an underground but has a feel of an underground. It was still the early hour of the morning.
The routine was like this,
I always wake up at 4am, go to the training grounds with Beta Ben and his son Jeff already waiting for me. That was when I befriended Jeff. His presence was the only thing I enjoyed in the training room. He always had ways to make me laugh every day. Then by 5am, my Dad comes around to go on a run with me through and fro the mountain just before the River mountain pack boundary. This was all part of the training to build me up into a strong and reliable Alpha.
We went out of the training room, straight to the front of the build and got ready for a run. 'I know you'all must be thinking of how a 10 year old was going to do that'.Well when my Dad transforms into his big Alpha wolf, I get on him. That's how we go for a run. The second aspect of the training.
"Hold on tight this time" my Dad, the Alpha said. I nodded. Then, he took off in the direction of the huge mountain before the boundary.
'With the rules binding the werewolf community, it was hard to come across any potential threats'. Dad had said the first day.
After running for about 40minutes, my dad's Alpha wolf slowed down and finally came to a stop.
"Why are we stopping?" I asked confused.
He looked straight ahead to the direction of the River mountain pack even though we were half way to the mountain.
He lowered himself, signifying that I should get down. I did and looked around, then he transformed back to himself. "Be quiet and stay close." He was at alert. He started moving forward and I followed quickly not waiting for a reminder.
Then I heard it, the sounds of hiccups, cries and then sniffing. My dad followed the sounds, untill we got to an opening close to the mountain just before the end of our boundary.
Behold, the generator of those sounds was a little girl about five years old with brown hair, sticking to the blood that covered her face. She was sitting and crying helplessly on the dirts beneath her.
We went close to her, making her scream. Considering her condition, it was expected. I wonder what happened to her.
When she calmed down a little, my dad tried all he could to understand her and the details shocked him. The River mountain pack was ambushed and her father told her9
I pleaded with my dad to help her family not fully understanding the dangers of crossing the boundary of another pack without permission.
He hesistated but did anyway since it was an emergency.
"Some warriors will soon be here, I mind linked beta Ben earlier." He said looking at the little girl, whose name I learnt was Sia with worry. Then back at me.
When the warriors arrived, he led them to the River mountain pack after handing both of us to the beta who left as soon as he came in his wolf form.
Before we got to our pack house, something strange happened.
I started feeling restless, then I began to feel hot inside. The beta's wolf had to stop and he made us drop from his back.
I wasn't sure of what was happening but it was not nice.
The next thing that happened shocked me. I screamed and fell to the ground on fours with claws starting to show itself. The sound of cracking bones was so bad that I couldn't stand on four and fell to my side.
I kept on screaming, attracting some pack members who were about to attend to their daily activities.
"This is impossible." The beta said softly. But I heard him clearly, considering the pain.
"Transformation at this age is unheard of." he sounded confused.
Fiive minutes after the beta's words, I transformed into my golden color wolf. My wolf laid down with his tongue out by the corner of his mouth. The voices were begining to fade and in less than 2 minutes, I transformed back to my human form. It was like a visit to hell and back. Too weak to even open my eyes, I blacked out.
I was awake but I couldn't open my eyes, no matter how hard I tried to.
"How could she do this to us, I only wanted to render help but curse..?" A voice I can identify even in dreams said.
"What kind of Alpha endangers his pack?”he went on and on.
Then a crashing sound followed by a painful howl that lasted for a minute before it all went silent. Then the door was opened and slammed.
I exhaled audibly. I knew exactly what that reaction was all about.
The Alpha was furious.
I finally opened my eyes and almost fell off the bed due to the hazel eyes staring curiously, 2 inches away from my face.
She almost rolled her eyes but didn't and sat back down. " For an Alpha wolf, you sure get scared easily," she said, still staring at me.
"Like you won't get scared with someone in your face the moment you open your eyes." I said trying to balance myself on the bed.
The moment Tina, the pack doctor came in, I realised I was in the pack clinic and it all started flowing back to me, clear as the day.
My transformation.
