Chapter 29: Alpha Fred
"It's my fault" I told him with tears in my eyes.
"How is this your fault. It's all because of them." He said pacing in pure anger. I just thought he was a funny person but seeing this other side of him made me wonder if Marco was the same.
Thinkin of Marco, Maybe I should return to Ken and explain things to him.
"Just let me go and sort things out myself. I have done more harm than good here." I said holding my bag tight.
"Stay the night and leave by morning." He tried to persuade me but I was determined.
He looked at me for few minutes before he hugged me tight.
"Take care of yourself and don't forget you are always welcome to stay here whenever." He said and gave me his phone number. He also told me where to go to before deciding what to do next.
"Thanks Jerry. Tell Zico and Sam I said I'm sorry and thank you." I sniffled and tried to hold my tears back but few dropped. I quickly wiped them off and crossed the boundary.
A little surge of energy shook my entire being. It felt like I was disconnected from something.
"Are you okay?" Jerry's concerned voice brought me back to reality.
"I'm fine" I smiled at him and waved before leaving finally.
I followed the description I was given without diverging.
Soon I got to the address of the little hidden hut that fits the description of what Jerry gave me.
So many thoughts ran through my mind. What do they want from me? I literally have no idea who this people are yet they want me?
The next morning, I continued my journey until I got to the clear path where I met Sam and Jerry. I stayed and ate the fruits I had packages before leaving the pack.
It was sunset when I finally saw the Crescent pack's boundary. Thanks to Marco who gave me the intel. I inhaled and crossed it.
Ten minutes later, Sia approached me.
"Where have you been?" She asked concerned. "We were so worried about you." She said as she hugged me. The same energy that I felt in Zico's pack was what I felt now.
"Thank you." She whispered still holding me.
"For what?" I asked confused.
"For coming back." She said and released me from the hug.
"Let's go home." She said and led the way.
As we got closer to the pack house, I could feel him.
He came out before we got to the building. I stopped in my track.
Ken looked ten times older that I almost thought it was his father.
He hugged me as soon as he reached me.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He said in hushed tone. We were the only ones outside but it felt like hundred of eyes were on us.
"It's okay." I said but no it wasn't okay. I was angry but the sight of him weakend me.
"Let's head in." He took me straight to my room.
"I should have been the one to bring you home." He sounded angry. "I shouldn't have listened to my father, I should have listened to you instead." He closed his eyes and tried to calm himself.
"Ken, look at me." I held his face and looked into his eyes when he opened them.
"I'm fine now, we have important things to deal with." He looked alarmed when I finished.
"Some people are after me and my guess is, they are the same people who sent my friends, Amazona pack." I finished and removed my hands from his face.
"Did they hurt you?” His voice was low and dangerous.
"Not me but those who helped me." I felt sorry for them.
"Don't worry no harm will come your way." He said with confidence.
I sighed and sat on my bed. He followed few seconds later.
I rested my head on his chest without further words. He didn't say anything either and we just enjoyed the silence.
"Tell me about your pack." I blurted out. He stiffened which made me raise my head and looked at him.
"You don't have to, I realised I didn't know mich about it , thats why." I said and looked away.
"Zoe," He called. "Hmm" I answered without looking at him.
"You have every right to know and I would be glad to tell you about it. It's not the right time for it." He said in a soothing voice.
"Why isn't it the right time?” I was beginning to get angry. Why do they keep avoiding this question? I thought.
"You have to eat and rest for now." As if on que, my stomach grumbled. He chuckled and that made me more angry but playful one this time.
"Tomorrow then." I said and he nodded.
"Freshen up and meet me in my office." He stood up but I held his hand.
"Stay with me for a while." I pleaded.
He looked perplexed but stay nevertheless.
He left after some minutes. Then I freshened up and went downstairs to meet him.
The plate of chicken stew was on the table with a cup of orange juice.
I didn't waste any time and started eating the food. Ken looked without saying anything.
When I was done he cleared the table. He excused himself and went to his office.
"Take it." He said extending wrapped box to me.
"What is that?” I asked. He rolled his eyes.and sat down.
"It wouldn't have been wrapped if I was going to tell you." He said looking keenly at me. Thats true.
I unwrapped it and behold it was a brand new phone. My face lit up immediately.
"Thank You Ken" I smiled widely which made him laugh.
Then his phone rang.
"Hello" He said and his smile faded immediately.
"Who was it?" I asked out of curiousity.
"it's Fred," He said. Wait, the same name. "Okay….." Waiting for him to finish his statement.
"Alpha of Amazona pack." He confirmed my suspicions.
