Chapter 25: The New Pack house
Zora's POV
I couldn't believe it at first but it all started to sink in. If truly Ken wasn't involved, I'm sure they wouldn't have been able to leave the pack house easily.
There was no explanable reason as to why he would arrange for me to be taken away. Irene could be working with him too. I just wanted to know the truth about my parent and nothing else.
This is the moment I needed my best friends the most. I couldn't think straight so I just sat there looking at nothing in particular.
"Zoe!” Someone shouted which startled me. I jolted and looked at the direction of the call. Tina looked worriedly at me. That was when I noticed she was stanfing so close to me.
"I heard from him that you have been looking for your birth parents." She said. This picked the guy's interest because he paused whatever it was that he was doing on his phone.
"We can help you." He added.
"Why should I trust you when I just had my trust broken few minutes ago." I stood up and was ready to leave. "I'm done with this place and everyone. If I can't do what I want then its better I leave." I shouted. This evoked an anger in me that I didn't know I had.
The guy slowly stood up and Tina took few step back.
I would have cared about their reactions on normal circumstances but this was different. I stormed out of the house and headed to where my legs took me to.
"Zoe, please listen." Tina followed me out but that didn't stop me.
"Zoe!!" There was a commanding tone to her voice which only slowed me down and also decreased my anger a little.
I finally stopped and turned towards her. She looked exhausted and was breathing heavily. "I don't need your help, I will just find my way home. Don't try to stop me or else someone will get hurt." I had no idea why I said so but strangely I meant everything I said.
"There are dangers out here that you may be exposed if you leave now" Shealmost pleaded but my mind was made up. "I can and will take care of myself." I told her confidently. It looked like she couldn't cross to where I was because she only extended her hands in my direction and did nothing else.
"It's more than what you think it is Zoe." The guy said as he stepped out too. But I still didn't care so I left without answering him.
They kept calling my name and before I left into the forestlike covering, I heard the guy calling someone but everything went silent.
I saw nothing but trees as I walked, I thought back to my life before now. I missed them so much.
The adrenaline from earlier wore off as I started getting tired. After walking for few more minutes, I came across a clear path and stopped.
"The hunt was so easy." a male voice said while the other laughed.
"No way. It was more of unpreparedness from the other side." The second voice said. In my tired state I quickly looked for a place to hide.
They stopped in the clear path. I peaked and saw huge men carrying big sack effortlessly as they laughed at each others conversation.
The first one who I think is Jerry from the conversation dropped his sack on the ground before sitting on the grass. The other one, Sam hesitated before doing the same.
"We have to get back before sunset." Sam said and he took a large gulp of water. "Oh please, relaxing a bit won't kill you now, would it?" Jerry just chuckled and laid on the grass.
They sounded like my friends which made me scoff. Sam looked alert and scanned his surrounding. I dodged before he looked at my side.
"Shit, I almost got caught." I whispered to myself but from the looked of things, it wasn't a whisper because a huge shadow covered my entire being.
"You are already caught" the Sam guy said looking bigger and intimidating in close proximity.
I stood up and awkwardly stretched. "I was just on my way sir." I said as polite as I could and gave a small smile before turning to go.
"To where miss?” Jerry said in a serious tone. I thought he was the clown here. He crossed his hands looking down at my petite figure. The were at least 6.9ft with big builds.
"Home." I answered shortly and made another move to go.
Jerry blocked my way still with his arms crossed.
Sam sniffed the air and Jerry imitated his actions. I was calculating on how to outsmart them before Jerry spoke first.
"Let's just take her to the Alpha." He said. What! No "please don't. I don't want to go back there." I pleaded. They both looked confused.
"Do you know what Alpha means?" Sam asked in bewilderment . why is he surprised. I nodded anyways. His eyes looked focus like he was having a conversation with someone but no words came out of his mouth, strange.
"What is the name of your Alpha?” he asked.
"Alpha Blake, isn't he the Alpha?” I asked.
Jerry snorted and dropped his crossed hands "ofcourse not, he is just a powerless Alpha who encountered tragedy few years back." He said which made Sam give him a warning look. He stopped and returned to being serious again.
What did he mean by that. A powerless Alpha? But he looked nothing like that from the few conversations we've had.
"You are in Silvercare Pack not the Crescent pack." Sam said. He sure was the mature one here.
"What is your name?" He asked carefully trying not to scare the already scared me.
"Zoe," I replied.
"Sam and this is Jerry." He said pointing to Jerry. Trust me I know.
"You crossed the boundary to our pack and we have to take you to the Alpha as he already knows you are here." he said.
"As long as it's not Alpha Blake, it's fine." I said.
Sam offered me water as he carried his sack, which caused Jerry to protest. "What a gentleman" I said to Sam and scowled at Jerry.
Sam chuckled and I smiled, we left the sulking Jerry behind and continued walking as he carried his big sack which I almost forgot about.
I received strange looks when we got to the pack house which didn't bother me at all.
Their pack was big but not as big as Alpha Blake's pack. Jerry collected the sack from Sam and took another direction opposite where the pack was located.
We entered the packhouse and Sam led me to an office located on the first floor. He knocked twice before entering.
"Alpha" He said and bowed.
I almost took to my heels when I saw the Alpha.
