Chapter 21: The confession

Zora's POV

I woke up with a start.

Justin knew about me but pretended not to, why…? It was strange. I heard a growl just outside my door. The scent gave it away but there was another scent mixed with it. Who was Ken talking to? I thought and got curious to check it out.

I stood up and went closer to the door. Just as I got nearer to it, Justin also spoke with a growl which was weird. I held my breath and listened closely. I guess they didn't want to wake me up but too bad, I was already awake.

"You have to let her go for now," he said. Ken growled louder this time.

"Don't tell me what to do" I heard him say.

"I can do whatever I want" His confidence said it all. What were they talking about?

"You are an Amazona spy right?" Ken asked without doubt. He sounded like he knew the answer and was waiting for confirmation.

"H..how?" Justin stammered. What! Spy? My best friend? Why would Ken suspect him like that?

I opened the door and they both turned to look at me. Ken quickly dropped his hands and walked to me.

"Zoe" Ken started before holding my shoulder. Justin forced a smile and looked at me. Something was definitely wrong.

"Why do you think my friend is a spy?" I asked Ken. Ken's face paled. I guess he didn't want me to hear the conversation yet.

"Weren't you sleeping?" He said softly. If I didn't hear him growl, I would have denied he was here at all.

"I heard you guys when I woke up" I told him and looked towards Justin again to see him pale as well. It was the early evening and the pack house was getting filled up, people were passing through the hallway. so I invited them into my room.

"Please don't keep anything from me, I have to know everything." I pleaded. Just sighed and began.

"Just like you Zoe, I'm a werewolf." He looked at me for a reaction but my face was expressionless. If he kept this from me, then there were more. Justin didn't talk much but this was huge.

"Does that mean Julia is too?” I knew the answer but I still wanted to hear it from him.

"She is" His head dropped and I felt my chest constrict. I felt betrayed. My heart broke. These were people I could trust with my life.

"How could you keep something like this from me Justin. Julia was my bestfriend but she left because she found out even though she was one." I was in pain. She could have atleast confronted me about it.

"I'm sorry" He said and looked at me.

"What was your mission?” Ken asked. Justin stiffened.

"Not here" He almost pleaded to Ken.

"I'm sure it's connected to Zoe, just say it here" Ken replied nonchalantly.

"Please" I added to urge him. Tears filled his eyes and he knelt down. "Find a place in your heart to forgive me and Julia." He started. 'What now' the voice in my head came to life. I had two support, I knew I could handle what was to come.

"As our family's duty in amazona's pack, we served as spies." He began.

"The red eye?" Ken asked. He nodded.

"What's that?" I asked Ken in confusion. "They have special gifts, that's why they are chosen as spies. Including the red eyes." He explained. I nodded even though I still don't fully understand.

"After that night, when the amazona pack ambushed the river mountain pack, our Alpha became anxious. He sent our parents out to look for the special one because her body wasn't found among the dead bodies." As he spoke about river mountain pack, my heart hurt so much that I had to hold onto Ken who was sitting by my side for support. 'Strange' The voice in my head said. Thanks captain obvious.

"Are you alright?" Ken held me closer to him."I'm fine" I said and he looked at Justin. I guess for him to continue.

"We left the pack when the order came for us to leave. Before the order, a search was conducted to look for her here but it was in vain. It wasn't even upto 2 years after we left, our parents died and we took their place. That was how we met Zoe." His eyes became teary.

"How did you become friends with her?" Ken asked.

It was my turn to reply. "Before their parents died, they were not allowed to leave the house. As a curious person that I was, I kept sneaking into the house." That earned a chuckle from Justin. Even Ken smirked.

"When their parents died we became friends and that was it." I finished and looked at him as he continued.

"I found out about Zoe the night she ran into the forest." I looked at him and thought about it. It was strange how he found me that night but I was too weak to think about it.

"Then the dance confirmed my suspicions." Yeah I found my dance suspicious too.

"My parents told us that a special dance would reveal the truth about the special one. She was said to have green eyes and control weather. All these pointed to Zoe." I exhaled. "Does Julia know about it too?" I looked at him with hope filled eyes.

"She doesn't yet but she is suspicious and I am sure she will figure it out soon," he said.

"The Julia I know never leaves her responsibility carelessly and she trusted the stories our parents told us about the special one." Justin said.

"Firstly she reports to the Alpha of our pack about any recent development concerning you. The prophecy about the special one points to you but because you are human, she doubts it." Justin explained. Julia wouldn't do that to me.

'Duty comes first for spies' the voice in my head said.

"Why don't you go in ?” someone said outside my room door. We all turned.
