Chapter 20: The Curse

Kenzi's POV

The Alpha knew nothing about Zoe being werewolf. He only called Kay to come deal with the 'nuisance' as he calls it. He disliked disorderliness but because Zoe was related to Ken, he called someone to stop it not throw her out.

I turned to look at him and I noticed his gaze was on Zoe. He must be planning something seeing as he came in here without sending for someone. Just then Mira and Kay strolled into the room and I knew it would be Mira and no one else. She must be looking for ways to turn Kay against me and use him for her own good. She doesn't really know about Ken because if she does she would pray never to come across him.

Kay was a good man who served for the good of the people but he believes disguising was a bit fun. Mira looked innocent but she was far from it. Jasmine looked less scared than Marco, who was about to shit his pant. If this was a normal circumstance I would have laughed at his facial expression but now was not the time.

"Care to explain?" His voice would have scared me few years ago but my hatred for him now gave me strength to face him. I looked at Zoe but she was already lookong at me. My face softened when she gave me a small smile. Then I looked at my Dad and gave him what he has always wanted.

"Zoe is a werewolf." I said to him. He looked from me to Zoe and from Zoe to me. "If she really is a werewolf, why can't I smell her?" He asked looking at me.

"Probably because of the curse." Kay said.

"What curse?" Zoe asked. She has to know but not yet.

"Something you don't have to know." Mira's unwanted inputs came to life.

"It's nothing" I told Zoe and glared at the Barbie. When I first heard the name, I almost burst out laughing. The presence of the Alpha alone drives me crazy, then Mira. Both of them now in the same room with me was frustrating but thankfully I was still sitting by Zoe's side and that kept me sane.

I received a text saying "Should I make him go?” I smiled. She knew what to do in every situations. I felt relieved looking at it. I replied " You are the best." I saw her smile when she looked at her phone.

"Alpha, please let the doctor do her work for now. Zoe just woke up and she doesn't look good yet." Jasmine said in her low convincing tone. He thought about it and exhaled. "Alright, come see me afterwards." He said to me and Zoe, then left afterwards.

Marco and Amber both exhaled. Even Kay did too but Mira being the person she was looked angry? I have never liked her for once but she keeps trying to cling onto me. The pack doctor asked everyone to leave the room including me. I hesitated but when Jasmine pleaded with me, I did.

Mira had left but Marco, Jasmine, Amber and Kay were here. Thirty minutes later, Kay decided to leave after sending his regards to Zoe. Next was Jasmine, then Marco left too. Jasmine had classes but Amber waited surprisingly. The girl and her mood.

After an hour, the doctor came out. "She is okay but needs more rest before she returns home." She said and excused herself.

But then something unusual happened. I inhaled a scent that doesn't belong to our pack. Since the night of the incident, the pack have had similar scent and even without our werewolf abilities we could sense a change. But who does it belongs to? I thought and headed to the room where Zoe was wih Amber.

"Can we please go home?" Zoe said after a while. "Ofcourse" Ken said and helped me up. Amber had left too after recieving a call from Marco. I inwardly laughed, the Mamber crew.

I lifted her in bridal style, she resisted at first but accepted it. But then I inhaled the strange scent again. It couldn't be my mate because she smells heavenly. I will find out later. That was a promise on it own.

We walked in silence to her room. At the entrance of the building, I caught her staring at me. Along the way, she fell asleep holding my shirt tight. I dropped her on the bed gently as I didn't want to wake her up. Her grip on my shirt was still as tight as she held first held it.

Still with her eyes closed, she whispered "The curse shall be lifted on the night when the special one and one of crescent pack is mated." then she released my shirt and smiled in her sleep.

I froze, how did she know that? She is a guest in this community, there was no way she would have known about it. She looked so peaceful and innocent in her sleep. I'm sure she had no idea about what she just said.

The special one has been the talk of the community for a long time now. Though she hasn't been found yet but I had a feeling she would be in the human city.

I have sent so many private investigators and did research on what she might look like.

Could it be her…? No way.

"She is in danger" Justin's voice said from the door. This guy isn't human. My suspicion increased. He knew something I didn't know for sure.

"I can tell you know something that I still don't know about her.” I said and turned to face him. He breathed a word out. Thankfully I heard it. " I hate this." I could feel most of my strength whenever I'm close to Zoe. I approached him and closed the door softly before facing him. He didn't look intimidated even as I towered him.

Then he exhaled, then his eyes slightly shone red.

"She needs to go home before she is found out." He said as he began to feel anxious. This confirmed my suspicion.
