Chapter 67 - Kll them!
Devan's POV.
I felt regret and pain after the massive killing in Hilton, but I was comforted at least it wasn't my fault. I just did what every other Alpha would do if his Luna got adopted on a random day at a birthday party.
My Relative, Noble, wasn't happy about this and he had a report filed against me to the elders in the council.
As usual, I was a latecomer and that was for a reason, not just a show of pride, but also a show of dominance and sovereignty.
On every occasion I attended, I had to act sensible at least. Beg their pardon for my lateness which I know didn't matter to them since they couldn't do a thing about it.
“Sorry, I'm late,” I said as Christo had the chair arranged for me at my end.
Alpha Simeon, the lead chief of the Hilton Royal council was the one representing his pack and he stood and spoke up.
“Alphas, king's men, Betas, I welcome you all to this brief meeting at the round table. As you all know, I am always a straightforward personality, I don't beat around the bush, I always stick to the truth and most of all, I fear no one.”
My eyes were glued to his as he turned to me and back to the audience which included my very good friend, Asher, The chairman of the day, and his Luna, Cassy from the Lakestone pack.
“Two days ago my Council member here, Noble, had his birthday celebration here in Hilton and as the custom demands, he’s at liberty to invite other honorable members of different packs.
It was brought to my notice and confirmed positively that he invited Alpha Devan of DarkVille who happens to be his relative but due to circumstances Devan wasn't present, instead, he had his Luna, Isabel sent to represent him and the entire council. Noble here welcomed her and her men in open arms and thereafter gave them loads of entertainment. The whole thing was only a twist when the Luna was nowhere to be found after having a quick dance on the dance floor…”
I interrupted him now.
“...Did you mean to be ADOPTED! By your Hilton clowns?!”
“You dare raise false allegations on my pack?!” Simon countered and almost had the whole thing heated up before the chairman of the day, Asher Damien, cut in.
“Alphas?”
We continued the argument until banged the table and stood up.
“Enough! Enough of all this nonsense!”
He said in anger being so disappointed at the both of us for trying to even pick a fight right in the middle of a council meeting.
“Why are you both acting like kids? You stand before a council of Alphas and we're trying to settle this issue once and for all.”
Asher said, turning to me.
He was the closest pal I had amongst every other person in that council and I never cared to know how it ended, all I knew was that I was going to be a victor, whether they liked it or not. I am the Alpha King and by that, means that I am the Alpha of Alphas. My pack also has the strongest and most fierce wolf of all, Midnight, so no one dares say anything stupid.
Asher continued. “I am the chairman of this meeting and I would be the one to give orders to anyone who is to speak!”
He turned to me.
“With due respect Alpha King, please could you take your seat.”
That was the most surprising thing I've seen of the day. Who could believe Asher standing in as the chairman to give me direct orders to take my seat?
“Asher I was trying to voice out my…”
“Devan? Sit down.”
And yes, I've actually learned my lessons. The last meeting was held In Pentos and I was the one who moved for Him to be chosen as the next meeting chairman, now everyone can see how humiliating he's become. I knew I however had a bone to pick with him.
“Carry on Simon.”
“Thank you, Alpha, indeed you're more than fit for this meeting.”
Simon turned to me in mockery and then back to the council to address further.
I sat down as Simon continued.
“It was true that the Luna was missing and right in the middle of such an event. But I would have you know that your Alpha king here, instead of him addressing the situation amicably, perhaps sending in a search party, sabotaged the event and killed innocent men and women at the event.”
“My men fought with guards and didn't lay a filthy hand on anyone else, your Hilton wolves attacked us, didn't they?”
I spoke up again and grew even angrier this time.
“You lie, Devan, you killed 20 people and more counting, and three bodies were discovered on the very track your wolves took in search of the said Luna…”
“I would have your tongue!” I rushed out of my seat towards him in a fight and the rest of the Alphas held me down including Asher.
“You fool! Let me deal with this idiot! His act wouldn't go unpunished! Do you dare lay false accusations on the Alpha king? I would deal with you mercilessly, you would go to jail for this.”
The whole place became so chaotic that Christo and Asher held me so tight that I couldn't even struggle out in an act of restraint instead I succumbed to their collective strength.
“Calm down Devan, you're outside the council now.” Asher voiced out.
“Don't take me back there, if anything would make me set my eyes on that fool, I would have his head and prepare for the worst!” I cautioned Trying to set my eyes on the door. Isabel was inside initially, came out and walked straight to our point.
“Honey, calm your nerves, I told you not to do anything rash in this meeting, now see what you've caused, they all blame you.”
“I don't care if they blame or believe me, I'll deal with Simon, that's all I know.”
“No, you won't, what would you have them believe if you killed Simon? You'll have yourself given up as the guilty one, I will testify on your behalf, forgotten, I'm the one who was affected.”
“Woman, put your Alpha to order and see he's alright, if he would cause harm if taken back to the meeting, then it's over, we're calling it a day here, we can't risk it, he could go home and I'll have the meeting postponed,” Asher said looking directly into Isabel's eyes. The way they reacted, like something, was going on, especially from Isabel's end. Well, they've known each other so…
One thing was clear though, I actually gave the command to Christo - “Kill them all”, but he didn't carry it out…lucky them.
