Chapter 62 - The D-Day

Fiona’s POV.

I felt this whole thing as being boring since Devan wasn’t going to be a part of it. He had an emergency in Germany he had to attend to at the moment. I sat in my room facing the mirror that evening while Helene, one of the maidservants in the Mansion had my dress stitched.

“Be fast with that.” I scolded. Helene had dragged the dress forcefully from the hanger and it got torn though not too exposed to the eyes. She had to stitch the damn cloth and was lucky she wasn’t with the true Isabel; else she would be in hot soup by now.

“I am so sorry my lady, please forgive me, it will never occur again.” She pleaded, her face looking so pale and tensed like she had committed a crime equal to murder.

“Just have it done at once before I lose my temper, you know how much I love gold linings and yet you stand here to say all manner of rubbish, would your apologies change the fact that it’s torn? Or perhaps provide an instant one to be used for the occasion?” I asked, staring at her while she had the job done.

The door to my chambers was opened and I witnessed the Alpha walk in smiling at me.

“My own Luna.” He said in his deep bass voice and had his arms wide open to receive. I fell under his embrace and felt the warmth from his wide-broad chest.

“It’s almost time to leave and you aren’t yet dressed for the occasion? What’s the problem?” He asked as his eyes ran straight to Helene who had a long way to go in stitching the dress.

“What is she doing?” He asked, trying to have a closer look at what she did at the moment.

“She had my dress torn and now I’ll have to wait a little while before she’s done.”

“No, not at all, there are lots of dresses you can have at the event, you have the white one over there, remember how you loved that exact dress when I gifted it to you on your birthday last year?”

“Yes, but actually I loved this one, you know how much I love these gold linings and would like to wear them there, I love sticking to the plan and wouldn’t want her to impede the plans I had already,” I replied, squeezing my face and pleading the situation. He keyed into it afterward.

“Honey I understand you and trust me, I wouldn’t want to come in your way or try to disrupt your fashion sense, you’re my jewel, remember.”

I smiled at him now and he kissed me.

“Honey I would have to leave for the airport as soon as possible, you know I had booked a night flight to accommodate my Chinese friend Xing Lu. I would be going right away, I thought you were done so we could leave in the same convoy but since you aren’t, I would just have to leave, but be rest assured that my stay in Germany wouldn’t be a lengthy one, two days, tops and I am back.”

“Alright sweetheart, I am going to miss you so dearly, I can’t just imagine the last time I attended a function like this without you, it would be almost boring.”

“Don’t worry my dear, Christo would be there to keep you company, and yes, your new bestie, Susan, remember she’s also a part of the team who planned the event so be rest assured you’re covered, and besides, I’ll have the guards doubled for your sake so it looks secured enough, I’ve heard a lot of shitty things about Hilton, they may look small in number and fragile, but trust me they also have open of the most powerful werewolf council, they are tactical and strategic.”

“Don’t say much honey, everything will be just fine, I promise.” I hugged him then, it looked like Helene was done with the whole stitching.

“My Lady, I am done with it.”

“Let me see.” I walked to her with Devan accompanying me from behind to get a closer look at her work.

“It’s almost perfect like she never even tore it in the first place.” He commended.

“Did you learn this art somewhere else?” He asked.

“Yes Sire, before I was employed here as a maid I had served with my aunt who is a master in this.”

“Hmm, I see, and I am no longer surprised, honey don’t you see how she did it, made it look so professional like it was an actual sewing machine that did the job.”

“Yeah, it’s nice.”

Someone intruded and it was His secretary.

“Sir, we had a call from the senator’s desk, they await you.

“Oh, I see.” He turned to me with a smile.

“Don’t say much Honey, I will be back soonest.”

“I’ll miss you too, do have a nice trip”

He kissed me again and walked out of the room.

I wore the dress and headed straight to the vehicle which Christo had opened already.

“Evening Luna.”

“Hello Christopher, how are you?”

“I am fine thank you.” He entered and closed the door.

“You look stunning Isabel, this is one of the best gowns I’ve seen you in lately, it’s beautiful and it suits your very light skin.”

“Don’t flatter me, Chris,” I said, smiling as the driver drove outside the premises alongside another vehicle which Devan had as a compliment since he promised to double my guard. I however knew my cover was sure, I only prayed our opponents were in no way close to beating out the plan, or else that was going to be the D-day for both myself and Isabel’s body.

“How do you feel without the Alpha here today?” He asked, facing me like he needed quick answers.

“Devan? Well, it would be a bit boring for me and you know the kind of influence Devan has when he enters a place, no one dares go against his instructions or commands.”

“Sure, the fiercest and most respected Alpha in all, who would dare, fear Not Luna, There’s nothing to be scared or afraid of, I believe the same respect accorded to him would be transferred to you too.”

I received a beep on my phone and I checked. It was a message from Gladys.

‘THE PACKAGE IS READY, BROOKE STREET, YELLOW HOUSE, BE THERE IN 5’.

I smiled and turned back to Chris.

“I am not afraid.”
