CHAPTER 29

Cammy felt strange. This was the first time that she felt as though she had stood up and done something for herself in a long time. She had spoken up about how she felt as she had made it clear to him that she wasn't going to be one for him to mess with. She wasn't a play thing that she wasn't a play thing that he could toss around when he saw fit.

She sighed as she tried to keep a positive attitude towards everything but the truth was that she was slightly nervous. She may have left him but she didn't know where to go now. She couldn't go back to Rachel as the last thing that she desires to do was to put her and Nathan into any further trouble.

She had already caused them enough as it was and the last thing she needed was to burden them any more.

She decided that the best option was to go to a hotel. Somewhere that was discrete and she would be able to hide out easily and not get spotted.

She decided on stopping at the Grand Central hotel. She got herself a small studio suite and she hoped that she wouldn’t have to stay there for very long. She hoped that she would be able yo have the most of the drama die down soon.

It felt weird living on her own. This was the first time that she truly didn't have anyone to lean on in what appeared to be almost seven years. She had to learn how to stand on her own two feet and the first step to doing that was trying to return her life to a sense of normalcy.

She slipped into bed as she thought of how going back to work would be the next day. She knew that with her incessant thoughts she would be sure to have more than enough things to keep her distracted.

But despite her own better judgment she couldn't help but allow her thoughts to drift towards the kiss as well. It had been the first time that she had kissed anyone in over seven years and despite what she had wanted to think it felt almost as good as she remembered.

But he was trouble and he didn't want her because he loved her or because he cared for her. His only concern was about himself and she knew that he had his own hidden agenda as to why he was being so nice to her.

But he had already fooled her once all those years ago and she would be damned if she were to fall for his tricks once again. She wasn't the same naive little girl that she used to be.

With that thought she found herself drifting off to sleep and for the first time her dreams were not plagued with nightmares. Rather she was finally able to rest. It felt as though it was her way of getting the sense of freedom that she had always deserved.

….

Cammy was woken up by the shrill sound of her alarm ringing. She let out a low groan from her lips as she slowly sat up on her bed.

She took a moment to analyze her surroundings and she remembered that she was actually in a hotel room. She Sighed as she felt all of her memories from the night before slowly returned to her.

As she reached for her phone she saw that the message that she had was from an unknown number and she felt her heart beat erratically against her chest before she unlicked her phone to be able to view the message.

“You think that you can run away and I will not find you ? Dont be slick. And if i were you i would keep my mouth shut”. The message was short but it had her heart racing enough for it to be able to get the point across.

She sucked in a deep breath as she felt her heart tremble. Maybe her continuing to pursue her case wasn't the best idea. She had already put a target on her back as well as the backs of the people that she loved and cared for.

How would She be able to continue to allow them to go through so much just because of her. She felt almost selfish for thinking that way.

But she couldn't just let it go. They were trafficking innocent people it seemed as though no one cared enough to do anything about it and if no one else would it would mean that she would have to be the one to take care of the mwss on her own.

With that thought she got to her bathroom and she decided to get herself dressed. She had a thrilling day at work. She had a few people to interview that were claimed to have information about alexandro rivera who happened to be the man who was running the trafficking ring.

She holds that some of them would be willing to give out their statements and that they wouldn't be too scared to appear in court. She has told them what they had found was a very brave thing and she truly did believe and understand that fact. She wasn't going to take it for granted and she knew that the police would give them the protection that they needed.

She slipped on one of her new pants suits that she had gotten her as she gritted her teeth hurting not to think much about him, hw had already messed with her head far too much recently.

With that she heard towards her work place. She could tell something was off when she could feel the gazes of several people on her and she knew that it was normal for suzzy but it still left her slightly unnerved.

But the moment she slipped into her office her body ran cold as she realized the reason for all of the fuss. A well built man in a three piece suit sat in her chair.

“Hello. My name is Alexandro Rivera and I hear you have been looking for me”. He said to her with a smirk.
