CHAPTER 19

Cammy should have been able to see him coming. She had memorized his scent like the back of her hand. It was one that used to consume her and encompass her in every sense.

It took her to a world where she believe that he was her knight in shining armor even though she knew that was nothing more than a fairy tale now. She was at Loss for words as she stared at him and it seemed that the world around them faded away and it was as though they were the only two people in the room.

“What are you doing here?” She asked as she stared at him. He had changed a lot and yet in a sense he was still the same. The man that she had fallen in love with and the man that had broken her heart.

She watched as he made an attempt to step onto the house but she was quick to take a step back.

She shook her head at him as her eyes began to water. “Answer me. I asked you what are you doing here”. She said to him in a demanding tone. She watched his lip wobbled as she took in the worry that was in his eyes.

A time had passed where she would have almost felt bad for him but now when she stared at him all she felt was anger. “I had to come and see you. And when i went to your apartment only to find that you were not there i was worried terribly. I couldn't imagine something happening to you so i went looking for you”. He said to her.

She felt her body still as she furrowed her eyebrows at his words . “My apartment. What do you mean? What happened to my apartment.” She watched as a sad look came over his features. "it seems that you don't know well i am glad because of that. At least it means you weren't around when the break in happened. I had come to see you and I found that the place had been turned upside down. I had thought that something terrible must have happened yo you and so i had assumed the worst.” He said and she could see the clear concern that was in his tone.

For a moment she wanted to feel bad for him. She could even feel her self control cracking slightly but she wasn't about to let him get to her like that. “I made it clear that I don't want anything to do with you and that I don't want to see you so I don't know why you insist on coming here again and again.” She said to him.

She had expected him to back down at her words but to her surprise he only smiled at her as he offered her a wink. “I know that you can still feel the connection between us and that is why you're still hesitant to push me out of your life entirely so how about we stop all of this. We will try to make it work.” He said to her.

She was about to say something when she heard the sound of Nathan coming down the stairs. As he took the last step he took in the sight of Rover and let out a growl as River did the same. She watched as the two men breathed heavily and she felt a sudden sense of panic come over her as he didn't entirely know what was going on.

“What is he doing here?”. River growled and she looked at him in confusion. "what do you mean what is he doing here. He lives here.” She said to him.

“He stopped me earlier and threatened you." he barked. She turned towards Nathan in shock. “Is it true Nathan, did you really do that? '' She asked him and she had hoped that he would say no. She hoped that it was some type of misunderstanding but he only shrugged his shoulders at her in response as he didn't even bother to deny it.

“Why would you do that?" she asked. “I just wanted to scare him straight.’ I know that he had been bothering you and I remember how much of a mess that you were the first time that he had left you. The last thing that I want is for that to happen to you again. I would hate to see you get hurt especially after everything that you have been through and so if he isn't ready to be a man I want him to stay out of your life and keep that kid away from you”. He said to her as he sent a glare towards River.

She appreciates what he was doing for her truly but she didn't want him to fight her battles for her. “I will not be going anywhere with you. You are the last person that I would trust with my things let alone trust with myself”. She said to River and she watched as his jaw ticked at her words.

“You can't stay here. As you can see it is not the least bit safe, at least try to think about it for a moment. I know that you are angry and that you hate me but this more than me this is about you.” He said to her pleadingly.

“No, I am staying with my friends and if that doesn't work I don't know, maybe I will be able to find a homeless shelter or something”. She said to him with a shrug.

“Actually cammy… I think he is right.” She heard Rachel aay and she turned towards Nathan who had a tight grip on her shoulder. "it isn't safe to stay here anymore. We are going to go out of the city for a while back to our pack until this clears itself up and you can't go with us. You know why. What I am trying to say is that your best bet of a place to stay for now is for you to go with Ricer”. She said and Cammy gulped as she turned towards River who had a smug look on his face.

“Come on let's get you home.”
