Chapter 2141 2151
Chapter 2141 2151
Among the countless living beings across the Myriad Tribulation Star, only a few dozen individuals stood at this absolute peak of power.
Max might have been among the more gifted talents in that group, but he felt that once he hit the limit of the Half-Step Flame Decay level, he would likely reach his absolute ceiling. He was different from Liam and the others; he was already over a hundred years old, even if he didn't look his age.
At times, he found it astonishing that Earth—despite its relatively small population—seemed to outclass the people of the Myriad Tribulation Star by a significant margin when it came to martial arts talent!
He couldn't quite wrap his head around why that was the case.
Regardless, the Creation Needles represented his ultimate chance. Only by reaching the Permanent-Tier could he truly stand at the apex of this world.
With trembling hands, he pulled out three keys. After trying them for a moment, the door in front of them finally clicked open!
An intensely chilling aura drifted out from the doorway, causing even Liam—who possessed the Ice Inherent Skill—to shudder involuntarily!
"So damn cold!" Leo let out a breath.
"These places haven't been opened for thousands of years. Let's let the stale air vent out first!" Stella reminded them.
Liam and the others nodded, waiting outside for a short while before cautiously stepping inside with their lanterns.
The rest of the group followed closely behind. Fortunately, there were no unexpected traps. They hung lanterns along the perimeter of the room, instantly illuminating the entire space. The room spanned several hundred square meters, appearing remarkably vast. It was filled with all sorts of intricate instruments, and the surrounding walls were lined with rows of shelves holding uniquely designed vials.
"This place looks like a massive laboratory!" Stella said with a hint of excitement.
Axel nodded along. "If we haul these items outside, they'll fetch a massive fortune! But we'll have to deal with that later; our numbers are simply too small right now."
"Let's find the Creation Needles first!" Liam directed. "Everyone spread out and search the area!"
"Right!"
The seven of them dispersed across the room, continuously stringing up energy-stone lanterns to ensure every corner was brightly lit.
Most of the instruments inside had suffered from thousands of years of neglect and were likely completely inoperable.
Axel and the other two managed to recognize a few specific devices, but Liam and the rest of the crew from Earth were completely clueless about the technology.
"These things over here... they look like research materials for various medicinal herbs," Freya said excitedly as she approached a wall of shelves.
"Check this out!" On the opposite side, Leo stared at the items displayed along the wall and muttered, "These... look like virus samples. What the hell was Promise Corporation even researching back in the day?!"
"Try not to touch those things," Liam warned quickly.
The seven of them kept searching. The entire laboratory seemed primarily dedicated to the study of viruses and medicinal components!
Liam walked over to a desk. The desktop was scattered with messy documents, though the lab remained remarkably clean, leaving the papers free of dust.
"Huh?" Liam picked up one of the notebooks. Flipping it open, he realized it was a journal of some sort.
Instead of hunting for the Creation Needles immediately, Liam began flipping through the diary.
The person who kept the journal was named Zhang Wuyang, apparently a director or lead researcher of this facility.
Liam read for a bit, only to realize he felt like he was reading ancient Greek. Although it was a diary, much of it was filled with heavy scientific terminology. While he had learned the script of the Myriad Tribulation Star and understood all the individual characters, when they were strung together into sentences, he couldn't grasp a single word of what it meant!
After browsing through a few pages, he lost interest.
Just as he was about to toss it aside, his expression suddenly shifted.
"That madman, Francis, secretly rounded up another large batch of people to study methods of achieving immortality. His last experiment almost brought the corporation to ruin. I have no idea why the Chairman refuses to stop him—is it just because he's a Permanent-Tier master? I feel like this madman is going to destroy our company sooner or later!"
Liam's eyes flickered with intrigue, and he couldn't help continuing to read further down the page.
However, the subsequent entries quickly lapsed back into incomprehensible technical jargon.
"Found them!" At that moment, Yasmin's excited voice rang out from not far away.
