Chapter 2134 2144

Chapter 2134 2144
In the untamed wilderness, plundering and killing among treasure hunters were commonplace. No sooner had Veronica reached the outer perimeter of the Murs Mountain Range than a squad of treasure hunters locked their sights on her.
This team consisted of one Flame Decay master and four Half-Step Flame Decay elites. While not a massive group, they were considered a formidable hunting squad along the outskirts of the mountain range.
Noticing that Veronica was traveling alone and carrying a heavily bulging pack, they immediately surmised that she must be hauling a stash of valuable loot!
Indeed, over the past month of trekking across the entire Murs Mountain Range, Veronica had accumulated quite a haul.
Combined with the leftover gear and treasures from her previous squad members—all of whom had perished—her current inventory was enough to make anyone salivate with greed.
Consequently, they began quietly tailing her, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Right as they closed in, Veronica's voice suddenly drifted directly into their ears. "Excuse me, do any of you know the way to Phoenix City?"
She spun around on her heel to face them.
The men were momentarily stunned. Not only was Veronica breathtakingly gorgeous, but she also carried an air of chilling detachment that instantly captivated them.
One of them sized Veronica up, realizing she was only at the Flame Decay level. Believing their numerical superiority gave them the absolute upper hand, a leering grin spread across his face. "Phoenix City? Yeah, we know it. Are you trying to head there to join the Watchmen?"
"Join the Watchmen?" Veronica frowned.
"You didn't know?" the man chuckled facetiously. "The host of the Dragon Bone, Liam, wiped out the four major families and established the Watchmen in Phoenix City. Word is he's building a classless city where everyone is equal. Right now, lower-class citizens from all over the world are flocking toward Phoenix City! Hey, beauty, what's inside that backpack of yours?"
Veronica’s expression shifted slightly as she murmured to herself, "Liam actually took Phoenix City?"
Lifting her gaze, she ignored the man's question entirely and asked, "If I want to get to Phoenix City, which direction should I head?"
The first man licked his lips. "Why don't you come over here... make us brothers happy, and we'll personally escort you there."
Veronica frowned in displeasure.
Another member of the squad grew impatient. "Cut the crap, sister. Hand over your backpack."
"Are you trying to rob me?" Veronica raised an eyebrow.
"Do it!" the impatient man barked, signaling an attack!
Ten minutes later, the ground was littered with five dead bodies. Each corpse bore a different expression, but every single one of them was deathly pale, devoid of any physical wounds—as if they had literally been frightened to death.
In truth, before arriving on the Myriad Tribulation Star, Veronica had never killed a person in her life!
Back on Earth, she had rarely been deployed in combat against the Purple-Armored Elites.
When her previous teammates had mysteriously perished earlier, she hadn't even realized that she was the one responsible.
Looking down at the bizarre manner of death of these men, she furrowed her brow. "It looks like Captain Nancy and the others died because of my trait, too."
Nancy had been the leader of her former treasure hunter squad.
Shaking her head as if the matter had nothing to do with her, she packed up her belongings, stepped out of the Murs Mountain Range, and set off in the direction of Phoenix City.
Whether it was Vesper's movements or Veronica's journey, Liam remained completely unaware of both. After a long sleep aided by Autumn's life-attribute healing, his body was roughly seventy to eighty percent healed, and his internal energy had largely regenerated.
He climbed out of bed, freshened up quickly, and walked out into the main living area.
