Chapter 90: She’s My Only Contact

Chapter 90: She’s My Only Contact
Damian spun around and grabbed Evelyn’s wrist. “You’re coming home with me.”

“That hurts…” Evelyn struggled fiercely. “Damian, let go!”

“Who was the man?” Damian ignored her cries, tightening his grip until her wrist was red. He dragged her close. “You better pray I don’t find out. If I do, I will destroy him, and I won’t spare you either!”

“You’re hurting me!” Evelyn tried to pull his fingers off, tears welling in her eyes. This was the man she had loved for eight years. He was sleeping with Sienna, yet a single photo was enough to make him rush here like a maniac, ready to break her arm.

“Mr. Green!” Sophie tried to intervene but was blocked by one of Damian's bodyguards.

“This is a private matter between a husband and wife,” Damian hissed, his eyes dark and predatory. “Evelyn, move!”

Just then, Ayla Vance's phone rang. She glanced at the screen, a text message, and her eyebrow twitched. She looked up, her voice cutting through the tense air.

“Wait.” Ayla stopped Damian. “Mr. Green, I’ve made my decision regarding the Omni Group’s fall/winter endorsement.”

Damian froze. This deal was critical for his stock price. He reluctantly loosened his grip on Evelyn and turned to Ayla. “Ms. Vance, you mean…”

“I agree to the partnership.” Ayla crossed her arms, her gaze fixed on Evelyn. “But I have one condition.”

“Name it. We can negotiate any term.”

“The project’s contact must be Mrs. Evelyn Green. If anyone else handles it, if she is replaced midway, or if she is mistreated to the point she cannot work, the contract is void. Omni Group will then pay a ten times penalty.”

Damian’s expression froze. He looked at Ayla, then down at Evelyn. “Only her?” Damian challenged. “Ms. Vance, Evelyn knows nothing about business operations…”

“Her knowledge is irrelevant. I only deal with her,” Ayla cut him off. “What, Mr. Green, do you object? In that case, I’ll just call that other assistant back…”

“Agreed,” Damian gritted the word out. He couldn’t afford to lose this deal.

He stared at Evelyn, his fury twisting into a dark, calculated expression. He released her hand. Five red marks were left branded on her wrist.

“Good, very good.” Damian adjusted Evelyn’s collar, the movement deceptively gentle, yet chilling. He leaned close to her ear and whispered so only she could hear, “You’ve gotten smart. But don’t think a little support will save you. As long as you’re on this project, you’re still my Mrs. Green. I’ll deal with you later.”

He straightened up, resuming his usual demeanor, and waved his hand to his men. “Let’s go.” He left with his bodyguards, his anger still palpable.

Ayla Vance looked at the red marks on Evelyn’s wrist and her pale face. She sighed, telling Sophie, “Take her to the guest room to treat that injury. My family doctor will be here shortly.”

Sophie held Evelyn’s trembling body. “Thank you, Ms. Vance.” Evelyn shook her head. “I’m fine. I just want to leave. I apologize for the trouble.”

Just then, a flash of lightning split the sky, followed by a roar of thunder.

RUMBLE—

The heavy rain began to fall, drumming against the glass windows. Outside the estate entrance, Sienna’s frantic cries rang out. “Ah! Thunder! I’m so scared! Damian!”

The man who had been raging at Evelyn instantly looked panicked when he saw Sienna stumble and fall. His fear and concern seemed genuine.

“Sienna!” He rushed over, kneeling in the mud and rain to pull the soaking wet Sienna into his arms. “Don’t be afraid, I’m here. I’m right here.” Damian cupped his hands over Sienna’s ears. “It’s okay, baby. It’s okay.”

Evelyn stood on the steps, drenched, the cold wind chilling her to the bone and freezing her heart.

“How ironic,” Ayla Vance said, walking up to Evelyn and holding an umbrella over her head, her gaze fixed coldly on the couple in the distance.

“Ms. Vance, thank you for your hospitality.” Sophie pulled Evelyn’s arm, wanting to get her away from the scene. “Evelyn, let’s go.”

Just then, a red sports car screeched to a halt at the gate. Lillian got out, holding Sienna’s poodle, "Pearl."

“Sis!” Lillian ran over under her umbrella. “Pearl kept barking. She seems scared of the thunder too and wants you.”

Sienna lifted her head from Damian’s shoulder. Seeing the dog, her eyes flickered. Leaning weakly against Damian, she pointed at Evelyn, her voice trembling. “Pearl… Pearl hates bad women too, doesn’t she? Just now… Pearl must have sensed how Evelyn treated me…”

The words were a command. Lillian released the dog. The poodle, which had been shivering, suddenly turned aggressive. It snarled and barked fiercely toward Evelyn, straining against the leash, which Lillian quickly lost grip of.

“Woof! Woof woof!” The dog charged at Evelyn.

“Watch out!” Ayla cried out, trying to pull Evelyn back.

But it all happened too fast. Evelyn instinctively moved to shield her stomach, turning sideways. The dog’s target, however, was her raised arm.

“Ah!”

An intense pain erupted instantly. The dog’s teeth pierced the skin of Evelyn’s left forearm. The dog bit down with savage intensity, shaking its head violently, trying to tear off a piece of flesh.

Blood instantly gushed out, staining her beige suit and dripping onto the ground with the rain—a gruesome sight.

Charles, the butler, reacted quickest, rushing forward and kicking the dog in the stomach.

“Aow—” The poodle yelped, finally letting go. It was sent flying several feet, landing in the mud, crying out.

Evelyn collapsed to her knees, clutching her arm, slick with cold sweat, her face ghostly pale.

“Evelyn!” Ayla knelt down, looking at the deep wound, gasping. “Hurry! Call an ambulance!”
