Chapter 130

Chapter 130

Black and white evidence scattered across the floor.

"Not only did you bribe Helen to tamper with the brakes in that Luminous City car accident to frame Scarlett," Alex's eyes turned ice-cold as he delivered the final devastating blow, word by deliberate word, "that leg you claim was disabled from saving Brandon—that's fake too."

The words hit like a thunderclap, instantly stunning everyone present.

"Your attending physician back then took a five-hundred-thousand-dollar hush payment from you and exaggerated the nerve damage in your medical records." Alex pointed to the medical files and overseas account statements on the floor. "These past three years, you've been sitting in that wheelchair, playing the pitiful invalid who can't take care of herself—all to manipulate Brandon's guilt and keep him tied to your side."

Alex let out a cold laugh, ripping away her last card. "In reality, your leg injury completely healed three months after the accident. You're not disabled at all."

Dead silence filled the corridor.

Sophia stood frozen as if struck by lightning, staring wide-eyed at the medical records on the floor, her breathing stopped.

Lucas was utterly dumbfounded. He stared hard at Elizabeth's legs in those high heels. For three years, he'd been a complete fool, pushing her wheelchair all over Imperial City, making arrangements everywhere to accommodate her supposed mobility issues. Brandon had indulged her every whim because of that "disabled" leg, even driving Scarlett away.

It had all been fake.

From beginning to end, this was an elaborate con for power and wealth.

Sophia and Lucas looked at Elizabeth in extreme shock, their worldviews completely shattered in that moment.

In the corridor, Elizabeth stared at the medical records on the floor, her face deathly pale, yet still clinging desperately to her story. "Fake! It's all fake! My leg hurts every day. Alex, you'd actually forge something like this for Scarlett!"

Alex's eyes were ice-cold, not even bothering to argue back. He raised his hand slightly, his tone as flat as if discussing the weather. "Since Ms. Perez's legs are already useless, might as well break them for real. Do it."

Two bodyguards immediately stepped forward. One pulled out a tactical baton from his waist and swung it mercilessly toward Elizabeth's shin.

The strike cut through the air.

"Ah!" Elizabeth let out a terrified shriek. In that life-or-death moment, physical instinct overcame reason. She sprang up from the ground, nimbly dodging the baton, and bolted toward the fire escape in her high heels without looking back.

Running like the wind—not a trace of disability in sight.

Lucas stood frozen, staring blankly at Elizabeth's fleeing figure. That swift, healthy stride was like a resounding slap, shattering everything he'd believed in for the past three years. Utterly heartbroken, his stomach churned violently, and he leaned against the wall, dry-heaving.

After running a dozen meters, Elizabeth came to an abrupt halt. She stiffly lowered her head, looking at her perfectly intact legs, finally realizing she'd given herself away. The lie she'd carefully woven for three years had completely collapsed in this moment, and crushing despair instantly engulfed her.

Scarlett stood in place, watching this absurdly grotesque farce, and suddenly laughed. She laughed until tears fell in heavy drops.

Crying and laughing at once, desolate to the bone.

Because of such a clumsy lie, Helen had taken the fall and gone to a cold prison cell. Because of this "disabled" leg, her unborn child had become a pool of blood, and she herself had been tormented by Brandon for three whole years.

How ridiculous. How tragic.

Just then, the ICU door opened. The attending physician walked out, removing his mask. "The patient has regained consciousness and is out of danger. He can be transferred to a regular VIP room now."

Scarlett wiped away her tears and followed Sophia toward the room.

Inside, Brandon leaned against the headboard, his forehead wrapped in thick bandages, his face pale as paper. When he saw Scarlett enter, his dim eyes instantly blazed with light. Ignoring the IV needle in the back of his hand, he struggled to sit up and grabbed Scarlett's hand.

"Are you hurt? Did the car hit you?" Brandon's voice was hoarse, his eyes urgently scanning her from head to toe. Only after confirming she was truly unharmed did his tense shoulders finally collapse, and he let out a long breath of relief.

In that moment between life and death, he'd finally seen his own heart clearly.

"Lettie, I love you." Brandon gripped her hand tightly, his eyes bloodshot, his tone carrying unprecedented devotion and humility. "Give me one more chance. I'll give you the most spectacular wedding, everything you deserve as Mrs. Robinson—just stay by my side."

Scarlett looked at him quietly, not a ripple in her eyes.

"You've realized it too late." Sophia walked in on her crutches, her face ashen. She threw the file Alex had uncovered directly onto Brandon's hospital bed. "See for yourself what kind of person this 'savior' you were willing to die for really is!"

Brandon opened the file.

Hired murder, faked disability, overseas transfer records...

One item after another, black and white evidence, ironclad proof.

His face instantly turned deathly pale, his chest heaving violently, a thick metallic taste rising in his throat. He was so enraged his eyes turned bloodshot—he nearly coughed up blood.

"Lettie, I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." Brandon clutched the documents, closing his eyes in agony, his voice trembling. "I really did have people investigate the accident back then, and her leg injury too, but all the evidence that reached me showed she was innocent."

He snapped his eyes open, a terrifying murderous intent flashing in them. "She has a mole near me. Someone's been helping her falsify evidence."

Brandon immediately pressed the call button for the bodyguard captain outside and issued a harsh order: "Immediately investigate everyone inside the Robinson Group and at Long Island Estate. Dig three feet underground if you have to—find me that mole!"

After arranging everything, he turned back to Scarlett, his eyes almost pleading. "Lettie, don't divorce me. As long as you don't leave, I'll do anything."

"Focus on recovering first." Scarlett withdrew her hand, her tone detached—neither agreeing nor refusing.

That night, Phoenix City was suddenly hit by a blizzard.

The hospital's backup electrical circuit suddenly malfunctioned, plunging the entire building into darkness. The outage lasted only ten minutes, but when the guards reopened the security room door, Elizabeth, who had been detained inside, had vanished.

She'd escaped in the chaos.

When the news reached the hospital room, Brandon's expression darkened until it could drip water. Alex pushed the door open and tossed a list onto the table.

"Found him." Alex's tone was cold and hard. "Your chief assistant—three years ago, he racked up massive gambling debts in Las Vegas. Elizabeth used that offshore money to pay them off. For the past three years, he's been handling your investigation files. Every piece of evidence against Elizabeth—he destroyed or falsified it all."
