Chapter 90 - Rejecting My Contracted Luna

  Emma's POV

After much disagreement and arguing between the doctor and I, he finally agreed that I could go home today. The one condition is that I am to take it easy and not put myself under any more stress. But with Thomas and I parting on good terms, I cannot think of a reason that I could be stressed. Ezra knows the truth that Ethan is his father and he could not be happier. Ethan has asked me on a date as soon as I am released from the hospital. Everything in my life seems to be turning around for once.

Pulling the clothes out of the bag that Ethan brought me, a smile spreads across my lips when I see that he has brought me his own sweats. At the bottom of the bag there is a handwritten note.

"I thought you might like to smell like your favorite scent... me."

I roll my eyes at his boldness but he is right. There is nothing more that I would like to smell right than his scent. Pulling the sweatshirt over my head I lift it to my nose and inhale deeply. The smell is calming.

Suddenly, the door to my hospital room flies open and I see Ezra standing in the doorway with a bouquet of flowers in his hands. I drop the sweatshirt from my nose and my face heats with embarrassment as I see Ethan standing behind Ezra with a knowing look on his face. Dropping to my knees, I hold my arms out for Ezra and he comes running into my arms.

"I missed you so much," I say as I hold him closely and breathe in his scent.

"I missed you too," Ezra says and I realize that he is crying.

"Hey," I say, wiping the tears from his cheeks. "Mommy is okay."

Ezra nods his little head up and down before handing the flowers. "These are from me and Daddy," he says and my heart melts when I hear him call Ethan his Daddy. "But I picked them out," he adds with a smug look on his face.

"Well," I say as I look at the flowers. "I think these are the most beautiful flowers that I have ever received."

Ezra swings around and glares at his father. "I told you she would like these better than those ugly red ones."

"Ezra," I say in a warning tone. "That is no way to speak to your father."

Shuffling uncomfortably on his feet, Ezra looks at Ethan and mumbles an apology.

Carefully I get to my feet and lock eyes with Ethan. He has a worried look on his face. I begin to ask him what is wrong but he shakes his head vigorously back and forth, letting me know that it is a conversation for later.

Anxiety rises in my chest as I worry about what is wrong. Maybe he isn't going to choose me like I have chosen him. Possibly the battles between him and Thomas have made him realize that I am not worth the fight. I try to spread a smile across my face but I know that I am failing.

Ezra grabs me by the hand and leads me out of the hospital room to a car that is waiting in front of the hospital.

"You can't be serious," I turn to Ethan. "The pack house is literally right there." I point my finger across the street.

Ethan shrugs his shoulders. "Doctor's orders. You aren't to be stressed at all and that includes walking across the street to the pack house."

"This is ridiculous," I groan and mumble as I get into the front seat of the car.

Ethan takes his time strapping Ezra into his car seat, making sure that all of the buckles and straps are secure. Finally he gets into the car and drives the short distance to the pack house. I roll my eyes and groan about wasting gas the whole time, but Ethan just ignores me.

Once we are parked in the front of the pack house, I reach for the door handle and Ethan growls at me. "You will wait until I get Ezra out of the car. I don't want you walking up all of those steps."

"You have got to be kidding me. I am fine." I pull up my sweatshirt to show him that the wounds on my stomach are mostly healed.

"Doctor's orders," is all Ethan says to me in return.

He gets out of the car and unstraps Ezra, letting him run into the pack house before us. Finally, he comes to my side of the car and opens the door. Bending down he scoops me out of the passenger seat of the car and begins to carry me bridal style up the front stairs of the pack house.

Anna is waiting for us at the door with a huge grin on her face. I choose to ignore her snarky comment about me being carried over the threshold and stick my tongue out at her instead.

Ethan carries me up the stairs to my bedroom. Carefully he kicks the door to my room open and waltzes inside laying me gently on the bed.

"Ethan," I sigh. "I want to take a shower."

"I don't think that is the best idea," Ethan says with a worried look on his face. "Do you even have the strength to take a shower? How about I draw you a bath?"

Slamming my fist into the mattress of my bed, I throw a mini temper tantrum. "I don't want a bath," I pout. "I want to take a shower."

Ethan thinks for several minutes before he answers me. "Okay," he offers me his hand to help me off of the bed. "But I will be right outside of the bathroom door waiting for you the whole time."

"Why don't you just join me in the shower?" I bat my eyelashes at him in a seductive way. "That way you know that I would definitely be safe."

I don't miss how Ethan's breath hitches in his throat at my words. I smile to myself and think, 'checkmate.'
