Chapter 89: Rejecting My Contracted Luna
Ethan's POV
As we are walking into the hospital I am surprised to see Thomas walking out with a sullen look on his face. Hilariously, Ezra steps in front of me and growls a tiny growl in Thomas's direction.
Thomas bends down to Ezra's eye level and gives him a brilliant smile. "I am going home little man," Thomas explains. "But I know your mommy is in good hands because she has you to take care of her."
Ezra stands with his hands clutched in tiny fists and his little face is red with anger. "You stay away from my mommy," he tries to snarl.
"Yes, Sir," Thomas smiles at Ezra before he gets back to his feet.
I look at Thomas with a confused look on my face. "You are leaving?" I ask him.
"I am," Thomas says, taking a step back because Ezra is landing little punches against his thigh. "I don't belong here."
My mouth drops open and I am sure I look like a fish.
"Take care of them," Thomas says.
"You don't have to worry about that," I respond.
Thomas nods his head and gestures to Ezra. "I sure hope I am retired when he becomes an Alpha." Chuckling to himself he walks across the street to the pack house and into the car that is already waiting for him.
Ezra sticks his tongue out at him as he drives away and I cannot help but laugh. "I glad he's gone," Ezra growls, trying to sound tough.
"Me too," I chuckle as I pick him up and carry him through the hospital doors.
Walking right past the front desk, we head back to Emma's room. It is not until I hear a nurse quietly trying to flag me down that I turn around and look.
"Alpha, Sir," the nurse bares her neck to me in submission even though this is not our pack. "Before you go back I need to make sure that Alpha Thomas has left the building." Her face flushes with embarrassment as she tries to explain the new policy to me.
"It is okay," I tell her with a friendly smile. "We saw Alpha Thomas on our way in. He has left the pack."
"Oh thank the Goddess," the nurse says before covering her mouth with her hand. "You can head on back."
Standing outside of Emma's room I look at Ezra. "Okay buddy," I tell him with a smile plastered all over my face. "Just like we practiced."
"Right," Ezra screams loudly. "I supposed to say. Mommy I want Efan to be my Daddy because Uncle Tommy is a doo doo head."
"Perfect," I tell him as I give him a little wink and open the door to her room.
Emma looks up at us both with a stern look on her face. "You know I could hear you out there."
Ezra shrinks a little in my arms and hiss through my teeth. "Sorry," I cringe a little. "I just thought..."
"You just thought you could use our son against me?" Emma says with a smile on her face.
"Our son?" I ask as I place Ezra in her arms.
"I think it is time that we tell Ezra the truth," she says as Ezra cuddles into her arms.
"Do you want to start or should I?" My heart is beating so hard I am sure you can see it through my shirt.
"I will," Emma's is gentle and soft.
"Ezra," she settles him on her lap. "You don't have to wish for Ethan to be your Daddy... because he already is."
Ezra's eyes grow wild with confusion and he begins to reach for me. "You already are my Daddy?" He asks me quietly. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"It is complicated," Emma whispers from across the room.
"What does comp-pi-cated mean?" Ezra looks at me with confusion in his eyes.
"Complicated means Mommy made some mistakes," Emma says loudly. "When I found out that I was going to be a mommy... I got scared and I ran away from your daddy."
"Why," Ezra's eyes are wide as he listens to my explanation.
"Umm," Emma's eyes begin to swarm with tears. "I didn't think that your Daddy loved me."
"That is silly," Ezra giggles. "Daddy loves you so much. He told me."
"He told you?" Emma looks up at me with a surprised look on her face.
"Of course," Ezra says with a proud look on his face. "Efan tells me everything. We are best friends."
"We are better than best friends," I tell Ezra as I place some little tickles around his ribs.
Emma clears her throat as she watches the both of us from the hospital bed. "So what were you going to say after Ezra told me that Uncle Tommy was a doo doo head."
"Oh," I say as I scratch the back of my head. "Then it was going to be my turn to talk."
"And just were you going to say?" Emma says as she crosses her arms across her chest.
"He is going to ask you on a date," Ezra pipes up from my lap.
"Is that so?" Emma says with a smile on her face. "That will be pretty hard for me to do from this hospital bed."
Climbing off of my lap Ezra hoists himself back onto the hospital bed and begins to lift up the blankets and the bottom of Emma's hospital gown. Emma is desperately trying to keep herself covered while Ezra tries to inspect the cuts across her stomach.
"Ezra," Emma struggles to hold down the top of her hospital gown as she fights him off. "What are you doing?"
"I am checking the cuts on your belly," he says as he pops his head out of the blankets. "They are almost all gone."
"What?!" Emma gasps as she disappears under the blankets with Ezra to look at her belly.
"Well?" I say as I watch the circus that is in front of me.
"When do you want to go on a date?" Emma says as she reappears from under the blanket with Ezra.
