Chapter 107 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN
Chapter 107 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN
UNKNOWN
Everything is going exactly how I want it. They’re all killing themselves like the idiots they are. I don’t mind the killing, I think the world is over populated.
“We have most of the packs under our control. Some are still resisting but in two weeks we should have gotten control of everything south.” Ryland says.
“What about Maeva’s pack? How was that?” I ask Kol.
I decided it was finally time to bring him in since he has proven useful. If he’s going to be a general in my new world, then he deserves to see who he is following. Another reason is that I know him and how his ego can be. If he starts to get offended that he hasn’t seen my face, he could ruin everything. The smile disappears from his face and anger starts simmering in my guts. I can’t believe he disappointed me.
“We’re in control of the pack, my lord.” He says, shaking. I like that he’s afraid.
“Then why does your face look like that?”
“I couldn’t kill Alpha Maeva. She wasn’t in the pack and I couldn’t kill her beta too. They started running even before we got to the pack house. I failed you.”
I smile. He’s as ambitious as I hoped. “That’s fine. Maeva and her mate are the last pieces of this puzzle. We will conquer everywhere around them and box them in. We will cage them and make sure they have nowhere to escape to.”
His smile returns and his eyes blaze. Ryland clears his throat, bringing my attention back to him.
“What is the next plan, my king?”
I snort. He started calling me King when he heard Kol call me ‘my lord’. Performances like that irritate me but I understand his fear. He’s been loyal and he feels like Kol is being performative to get in my good graces. He needn’t bother. He can never match Kol who is naturally a leach and an ass kisser.
“Select a few rogues and send them to Caius’s pack every day. Not enough to wipe them off, just enough to annoy them while you gather allies from different packs.”
“That is wise, my lord. Keeping them busy is a very good plan.” Kol says.
“He’s right my king. With him dealing with the rogues, he won’t have the time to meddle in our affairs.” Ryland says.
I would laugh but I don’t want them to see how much I enjoy this.
“You won’t hear from me for a while. Don’t come looking for me, I will reach out when I’m ready. The rogues are at your disposal, use them as I have instructed.”
They stand, bow, then leave the chamber. The air changes as soon as they leave and I smile.
“I thought they’d never leave.” The priestess says.
I turn to look at her. She looks happy. Younger than the centuries she’s been alive.
“How does it feel to be in command of all the witches?” I ask and her smile broadens. She actually smiles with teeth.
“It feels better than what I dreamt about.” She says and I nod.
“Good, I have given you what I promised you, when can we start on what you promised me?”
She twirls and twists her hair between her fingers. “You have thousands of rogues at your command. You destroyed the werewolf council. You could take your place as king but you refuse to. I don’t know what else you want from me.”
I glare at her and she laughs. “You and I both know what I’m talking about and it’s not the damned rogues. You know they’re an experiment for something better. When will you get started on your own end of the bargain?”
“You have to understand why I’m not in a hurry to help you. To get to where we are, we had to drain three very powerful, very old dark witches and a few inconsequential witches. Doing more will need witches of the same power and I’m a bit hesitant to reduce the number of old witches I have.”
“I honestly don’t care how many witches die if it means that I get what I want. Give me what I want or we will have issues.”
He eyes narrows and her smile fades. “Is that a threat?” she asks and I nod.
“I’ll expose you.” She says and I laugh.
“Okay. You’ll speed up my plans but nothing will change. You are still going to give me what I want or things will get very uncomfortable for you.”
She shakes her head. “Fine. I’ll send over a few witches over. Their only task will be your son. They will try everything they can to make sure your son returns back to the boy you once loved.”
“Make sure none of the witches you send are less than 500 years old. I’ll know if they’re younger.”
“Fine.”
She leaves in a puff of smoke and I lean back on my seat and smile. Now the main work begins.
FOUNDING FATHER BANE
“What’s the update on the witches and werewolves?” I ask my family.
We’re the founding family. The original vampires. We rule our kind alone and it has served us well. The problem with witches and werewolves is that they all want to rule alone. They don’t understand that ruling alone is always a mistake and never works well for those who wish to rule alone.
“Killing themselves. The rogues are sweeping through the lands, killing all who refuse to bow to the werewolf king.” Michael says, adding air quotes to king.
The family laughs at the stupidity. “It’s such a shame that rogues are tainted, this could be the chance to take a few and feed on them. No one will notice a few missing rogues.” I say.
“Instead of rogues, why don’t we take wolves from resistant packs? The pack members won’t question why there are missing members of the pack and rogues don’t know the amount of people in packs.” Kala, our eldest sister says.
She mostly listens during our meetings but when she does talk, it is always full of wisdom.
“You’re right. We’ll start from the packs closest to us and depending on how the next few weeks go, we will move further in.”
“I want to taste a witch. It’s been ages.” Kalil, our youngest brother says wistfully.
Kala smiles at him. “You’re right. But witches have a force field around their territory, they’ll know the second one witch goes missing.”
Kalil groans and Kala pats his back. “We’re feasting on humans tomorrow night. You should be happy about that.”
He is. His face lights up and he looks genuinely excited. The vampire’s best kept secret. Humans. We knew that our race would die off from feeding on animals for all eternity so we kept a few hundred humans and we force them to reproduce. We feast on them twice a week while other vampires feast once a week so they don’t all die off.
“Speaking of humans, nine of them gave birth today.” Michael says and we all cheer.
The witches and werewolves can kill themselves.
