He Isn't A Dream, After All!
He Isn't A Dream, After All!
"Simon. You can't die." She set him on the ground. "I know you're hearing me, and you can't die. I will save you. Okay? I will heal you." She held his hand and looked up at the sky. There was no way she could save him. Everything will be over if she is too late. Scarlett began to cry, but abruptly stopped when she remembered something. She gasped. "The red water." She began to laugh. "Simon, the red water will save you." She stood up and attempted to pick him up again, but he was quite heavy. Scarlett dragged him instead, and as she walked further, the light of a car flashing in her face caused her to come to a halt.
"Scarlett." October dashed up to her. "Scarlett."
"Mom, Mom, Mom." Scarlett left Simon and hugged October. "If I don't save him, he'll die."
"You will then save him." Belly said as she ran up to her.
Cornelia, Avery, and Mia rushed to her, and Scarlett told everyone her plan of using the holy water on him to get rid of the wolfsbane in his heart. They helped Simon into the car, and she ran her hand through his hair as she watched him sleep on her lap. She could hear him breathing again, but it was shallow.
October dashed to the door and unlocked the organisation's gate. The girls assisted Simon in reaching the statue and placing him there. Scarlett could feel his pain when she looked at him. They recited the prayers that October had instructed them to recite and fed Simon the holy water.
Scarlett was dissatisfied because there was no improvement. She took a look at October. "Mom. It isn't working."
"All you need is patience. You can rest here for a while. If your grandfather is looking for you, he will not even consider this location."
"Thank you very much, Mummy."
October stroked Scarlett's hair. "I'm so sorry I didn't know."
"I didn't tell you anything about it."
October shook her head. "You would have if I had been a good mother, but I wasn't, and I am deeply sorry."
"Mom. That's all I need to hear." Scarlett leaned in to hug October. "Thank you for being there for me when I really needed you."
"You are more powerful than you realise, my girl. Don't let your grandfather's retaliation bring you down."
Scarlett shifted her gaze to Simon. "Don't you hate him? Because of what he did to daddy?"
"I can't hate him because your father did something worse. It all started with vengeance, and look where it got us!"
"What do you mean?"
"Scarlett. The Alpha was very peaceful. I knew him before he was an Alpha. His parents were murdered by your father and other hunters. He wanted vengeance, so he began the killings. When I told Grandfather not to fight any longer, he refused. He's just so stubborn, and I wish there was a way to convince him that werewolves aren't our adversaries."
Scarlett shifted her gaze to Belly. "I didn't know that you knew about me. You never flinched or trembled when you were with me."
Belly smiled. "It's because you are my sister. Scarlett, I will go to any length to protect you."
"Thank you, Belly." Scarlett leaned in for a hug. She felt a hand touch her and turned to look. When she saw Simon open his eyes, she gasped. "Simon." She rushed to him.
Scarlett assisted Simon in getting up. "Where am I?" he asked. His voice has become clearer.
"Are you okay?"
"I am fine. I don't feel pain anymore. I thought I died."
"No. You didn't. You were strong for me, and I found a way to save you."
Simon looked around. "Where are Flint and the rest of the pack?" He cast a glance at Scarlett, then remembered the fire. "Oh."
Scarlett immediately hugged him. "I'm so sorry, but we were unable to save them." Simon sobbed into Scarlett's arm.
"My brother." Flint was someone he had always vowed to protect, but now he is gone, just like Mace.
"We have to get out of here. Looks like we are the only survivors, Simon." Scarlett said to him.
"She is right. I don't think my grandfather would back down. You all have to get away from here. Is there a place you can go?" Belly asked.
Simon wiped his tears away and nodded. "Switzerland," he said, looking at Scarlett. "The wolf king will welcome us there."
"Then I think we should get you on a plane to Switzerland." October said.
"Mom. We have no plane tickets or passports."
"My girl. I am Mrs. O'Hara for a reason." She rose to her feet and assisted Scarlett in standing. Simon was already full of energy, but the pain of his brother's death made him feel frail in his heart. "Let's get the hell out of here."
Along the way to the airport, Scarlett watched all the street lights with a smile on her face. Her fingers were entwined with Simon's. When they got out of the car, they found their way into the airport. Scarlett turned to face her mother. "I love you, Mom." She wrapped her arms around October. She moved her gaze to Avery and Cornelia. "I'm going to miss you two. I wish you could accompany me."
"We'll be over there for New Year's." Avery said as the three of them hugged each other. When they were released from each other, they began to cry as well.
Scarlett shifted her gaze to Mia. "You should take care of Mom and Belly. Mia, you are truly brilliant, and you should use it to achieve whatever you desire." She tightly hugged her younger sister. "You can have all of my clothes as well." Scarlett's remark made Mia laugh.
"I'll miss you even more, Scarlett. Make sure you pick up FaceTime whenever I call. Okay?"
"I will, Mia." Scarlett smiled at Belly. "I am so sorry that I wasn't a good sister."
"Are you kidding? You are fun. My job is to protect you, and that is exactly what I will do." Belly drew Scarlett into a hug. "I will miss you, Scar."
"I will miss you too. I will miss all of you." They all gave a group hug. Scarlett smiled brightly at everyone. As she walked, one hand was waving goodbye and the other was interlocked with Simon.
…
"Scarlett. Scarlett! Wake up! You are going to be late for your orientation!" Mia jolted Scarlett. "Daddy is furious with you right now, Scar."
Scarlett groaned as she flipped her eyes open. She drew her hair from her mouth and looked at Mia dryly. She then gasped. "Did you just say, Daddy?"
"Yes. And he's furious."
"Daddy isn't dead?"
"What the hell are you yemming about, Scarlett? Of course, he is not dead. Get up!" Scarlett's mouth curled into a bright smile as she got out of bed and ran to the door. "Where are you going?"
"To see my daddy."
"You are insane." Mia followed behind.
Scarlett was even more taken aback when she saw her father walk into the house; he was on the phone, but she didn't care. The fact that she was seeing him made her happy. She ran down the stairs to hug him tightly. "Daddy."
"Why aren't you ready yet? You are going to be late."
"Just a little longer, and I'll be ready."
"We can always hug later. I am not going anywhere."
"Right." Scarlett released herself. She fixed her gaze on her father's face. He never died. It was all a dream. Everything was a dream. "I will get ready." She ran back to her room to get ready.
Scarlett couldn't believe everything was a dream as she climbed into the car. The adventure. The world of werewolves... Simon. She placed her hand on her necklace. Simon wasn't real.
"Darling. Did you bring your bags?" October asked.
"Mom. It's just an orientation. And not me resuming yet."
"It is Yale, Scarlett. Everyone is eager to resume early." October chuckled.
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Avery and Cornelia. Please inform my mother that she did not need to accompany us."
"I like it when Mrs. O'Hara is around." Avery said. "She's entertaining, and since it's also our orientation, I think she should stick with me."
"You don't appreciate your mom, Scar. Your friends are overjoyed that she is accompanying them." Edward said.
When they arrived, he parked the car. Scarlett was the first to get down. She was taken aback by the school's appearance. "Belly is really enjoying herself here. She'll be surprised to see me here today."
"I knew not telling her you got into school here to study law was a good idea." Mia said. "I can't wait to see the shock on her face."
"Oh." Scarlett's scarf slipped from her grasp and blew in a direction. As she ran after it, her leg stepped on a loose shoelace, causing her to fall, but she was caught in midair. Scarlett opened her eyes to see who it was, and to her surprise, the face wasn't what she expected. Her eyes widened. He is real, after all. "Simon?" she called.
He smiled as he helped her stand. He knelt down and properly tied her shoelace. Standing up, he couldn't take his gaze away from the redhead in front of him.
"Thank you. For the save…A- and the shoelace." Scarlett stuttered. Her eyes never left his.
"You should be careful. Besides, how did you know my name?"
Scarlett searched his eyes. He has the most beautiful smile. How can someone be this beautiful? It would sound insane if she said it was in her dream and they fell in love. "I... I don't know. You just look like a Simon."
"You are right. I'm Simon, and I'm in my third year of engineering. What about you?"
"Scarlett. I'm Scarlett O'Hara. A freshman."
Simon picked up her scarf from the ground and handed it to her. "Well, Scarlett. You are really pretty. What would you say if I asked you out for lunch?"
Scarlett chuckled, Flushed, she said, "I'd say, why not?"
