Chapter 51
“I’m sure the Dr is nervous about me sitting in his office. Which is a little silly. As I am still Julia, I am still the nurse that has been helping out the last few days. I’m sure the Alpha would agree with me when I ask that I get treated the same as before.”
One word came out of my mouth, just one.
“How……”
I saw Jeremy roll his eyes at me. Then the penny dropped.
“You can hear any mind link you want to hear, speak to anyone you want to. I’m sorry I forgot. That was very rude of me.”
I felt Julia squeeze my fingers before giving me a radiant smile.
“Doctor, am I free to go? I promise to take it easy for the next few days. I will hole up in my room and binge watch a tv show.”
Before my Gamma could respond I jumped up excitedly, “its all settled then, Julia will come home with me, stay in my room as I have the 65” tv screen in my room. And I shall wait on her hand and foot.”
There was a beat of silence, then we all laughed. My Gamma was still chuckling as I helped Julia out of her chair.
“Well, I can’t disagree with you as you are my Alpha, but I think its safe to say that our Lady Luna will be well cared for.
I felt the blush creep up my face, as it seemed to start at my feet.
“Our Lady LUNA, huh? I do believe I like the sound of that.”
Julia POV
To say it was a bit awkward walking down a narrow corridor flanked by a huge Alpha and two slightly smaller, but no less impressive, warriors all trying to protect me. It made me smile. Especially when Onyx said somewhat flippantly, that she could deck all three with one paw tied behind her back.
I shushed the great wolf, who was still sniggering in my mind. Reece had explained his plan for getting me to the pack house. He told me his plan was to take a short cut. But had changed his mind thanks to his housekeeper, Mabel. I would have to remember to thank her later. Plus I could get to have another amazing hug from her too.
As we exited the hospital, I realised a small crowd had gathered. My heart swelled in my chest as the first of the applause started. Once everyone there, including my security detail, clapped along, I stepped forward to say something small.
Every wolf there got down on their knees and bowed their heads as a mark of respect.
I could feel my lips trembling with emotion I was trying to reign in.
“Please, stand. Thank you all for coming here this morning to wish me well. I am not yet back to full strength, another few days and I will be able to come among you all and visit for a while. Right now, though, I am very well cared for. I hope to see you all very soon. Thank you all, so much.”
While I had been speaking to the small group of people, Onyx had been watching an exchange between some pack members that thought they were hidden by the trees.
They weren’t. I listened to what Onyx described and felt my heart sink into my stomach. If there was one thing I couldn’t stand. It was a bully.
No sir. Not today. “You know what to do, Onyx?”
I asked my wolf. I swear I could feel her grin in my mind.
Reece was gesturing for me to continue walking, but I held up my hand.
“One moment, my love. I have to deal with something first.”
Reece looked perplexed for a second before he decided to just trust me.
I appreciated it.
The following second, four she-wolves stepped out from the dark tree line and walked toward us. I could clearly see one was trying to break free. I shook my head derisively.
When the four females stood infront of me, everyone fell silent.
“Who do we have here?”
I asked in a lighthearted way. Reece mind linked me the girls names, and their rank.
Stacey, Melody, Jasmine and Piper. I took a moment to just stare at them, before I spoke. You would normally see the guilty party straight away then.
And we did. A low menacing growl left Reece’s mouth. All four girls looked shaken.
what do you want me to do with these girls Reece mind linked me to say.
if I may, could I handled it? Reece’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second before giving me the go ahead.
“Girls, I know you are young. And will no doubt get into mischief for another couple of years before you decide to grow up. But. Your parents and I believe your grandparents have been part of this pack for a very long time. So I am a little confused as to why you would think it okay to torment another wolf.”
I waited to see if any of them would speak. And sure enough, who I perceived as the ring leader, spoke up.
“I don’t have to answer to you. You are just a visitor here. Alpha, I ask that we are allowed to go, we have done nothing wrong. There is no proof of anything untoward.”
Stacey looked on with a smug smile plastered to her face. For about three seconds. The gasp that run around the small crowd was more than audible, it was almost tactile.
I could see Stacey frown, look at her friends, then back at her Alpha.
Another low growl came from Reece, although I do believe the Nev’ar was in control. So I let Onyx have free reign.
When it became clear that my wolf was now in control, everyone, apart from the three girls standing in front of me, were back on their knees, with their forearms touching the ground.
I watched on in amusement as Stacey twirled this way and that.
Her two friends had the sense to kneel. As did the girl that was being tormented.
“Piper? It is Piper isn’t it?”
Onyx asked in a softer tone. The girl in question raised her head to look at us. I could see her tremble all over, and it gave me a knot in my stomach.
