Chapter 35 his accusation
Chapter 35 his accusation
Amber’s P.O.V.
“Amber. Hey…. Where are you running away?” I heard Prince Lucian calling me from behind, but I didn’t stop.
Instead, I sprinted towards the backyard of the palace so that I could go for a run.
Lucifer is the king.
I got this.
I wasn’t blaming him.
It was the elders’ fault that they told him about my wolf and my family’s connection with the pack.
But they forgot to tell him that investigating that incident could kill my whole family.
I was fuming, and that’s why I didn’t want to be with anyone, let alone the prince.
“Amber, stop running,” Prince Lucian yelled behind me again.
It only made me break into a run.
I ran.
I wanted to stay alone.
I don’t even want to be with David.
“You know that your life is bound to the Dark Shadow Pack, and yet you left the pack with your family. You want to destroy that pack, don’t you?”
Elder Marcus’ accusation was still pouring molten silver in my ears.
Flashback:-
“How can you be so selfish, Amber?” He continued yelling at me, and I just stared at him in shock and disbelief, still wondering why he cornered me this early, and why he was yelling at me.
The good thing was that we were alone on this track.
The mockery in his eyes and that twisted fury on his face…
It only brought back all the worst memories that I had in the Dark Shadow pack.
The memories that I tried to wipe from the memory lane but couldn’t because someone always came to hurt me with them.
Just like Marcus.
For the past few days, I was so happy that I started believing that I
Everything made me feel a sharp pain in my chest, but his words ignited something in my heart that I had buried deeply.
“For a better status, you risked the whole pack, Amber. How could you be so greedy?” he continued yelling at me, but I lost it when he called me greedy.
After that incident, I was called so many things, but not greedy.
And of all the people, Marcus had no right to question me.
“So, what if I am?” I asked Elder Marcus angrily, unable to stay calm this time.
The next string of curses struck in his throat, and this time, he looked at me in shock.
“So what, Elder Marcus?” I continued without giving him time to recompose himself.
He was now trembling in a fit of rage, his aura trying to suppress me, but he forgot that I wasn’t an ordinary wolf.
“Where were you when they made my life hell there?” I questioned him, keeping my head up to keep our eyes locked.
“They humiliated me in every way. I lost my wolf to save them, and yet they called me pathetic, a filthy wolf-less mutt, jinx, that I am only fit to be a wore for the warriors, not a beta.” The roar burst through my chest, sending him back a few steps.
His eyes were still wide-open, filled with shock and disbelief.
“Why didn’t you come to that pack and scold them for humiliating the one who was the reason for their existence?” He had no answer to my accusation.
“And don’t say that I am obligated to do that because of my ancestors. If …. If my ancestors had known that I would be treated worse than dirt by those ungrateful people, they wouldn’t have made that pact with the pack ancestors.” I peeled off the layers of the secrets that they had buried deep somewhere in the archive dirt in their storeroom.
“And they never agreed to let anyone bind the next generation's lives with that so-called pathetic pack.” My roar scared all the birds and animals around us.
I was in the middle of the forest jogging track.
Lucifer’s great-grandfather built this jogging track for the wolves so that they could stay connected with nature during their run.
“My life is bound to that pathetic pack because of you guys.” I accused him back.
“My whole family was suffering in that pack because of you guys.” I didn’t stop; I took a step forward despite his intimidating aura, which forced my shoulders to slump.
“And for whom
That pathetic excuse of an alpha asked me to be his mistress, Elder Marcus. After everything that he did to my family and me, he asked me to be his mistress, a dirty secret hiding in shadows.”
The roar shook Marcus to the extent that he staggered back.
I didn’t back down; I took another step forward, closing the distance between us while keeping the gaze locked with him.
My whole body was now burning in rage.
Flashback ended:-
My body jerked harder, snapping me out of my thoughts of this morning’s incident.
Before I could even process what had just happened, I crashed hard into a thick wall of muscle.
“Ouch.” I yelped in pain, my nose hurting the most.
The heavy and calming mixed scent of dark cedarwood and crushed pines filled my nostrils.
The grip on my arm wasn’t tight, but it was strong enough to keep me on my feet.
My eyes brimmed with tears because of the pain, and I glared at the person who had grabbed me suddenly.
I blinked and lowered my eyes to hide my anger and despair when I realised that it was Prince Lucian.
“Enough running?” he asked me calmly, without removing his grip from my arm.
I didn’t answer but rubbed my nose.
He didn’t speak again, giving me the time to come back to my senses.
My chest was still hurting more than my nose.
I just wanted to live a peaceful and normal life.
“Listen.” Lucian spoke softly after I calmed down a little.
“I don’t know the full story, but you have every right to stop someone from digging into your past. Even if the person is the king, he should ask you.” He comforted me calmly.
He loosened his grip on my arm and started rubbing the same place on my arm where he was holding me earlier.
I sniffed lightly and slowly moved my head up.
His gaze was soft, and that very same charming smile was still dancing on his lips.
"Don't be mad at him, okay? Lucifer has always been like this. Too curious to know everything as quickly as possible without thinking about the consequences," he continued comforting me, but I smiled while listening to him.
He was defending his brother without saying that Lucifer did something wrong.
"Even if his intention was not wrong, he should have asked you first instead of going to other people, especially those elders. I hate those old vultures." He wrinkled his nose in disgust when he mentioned those elders.
I stiffened a bit but agreed with him.
"And that Marcus." My jaw tightened when he mentioned Marcus.
