Chapter 25 he came through window
Amber’s P.O.V.

The silence that fell on both sides was tense. I also took a deep breath after finishing speaking.
This topic was sensitive, and yes, I wasn’t at ease all day.
“You don’t need to think too much, pup. Whether he said that to cover you up or he really does know something that he shouldn’t, the thing is that he changed people’s perspectives towards you. It also shows that he protected you.” David broke the silence after some time.
His voice was serious, but I could still sense unease.
“What do you think of him?” Daniel asked me seriously.
I took a deep breath and slowly lay down on the bed with my phone in my hand.
“He gives a brotherly vibe, bro,” I answered honestly.
“Hey, you brat. It …. It has only been a day there, and you are saying that you got a new brother?” Daniel scolded me immediately, glaring hard at me in the process.
I smiled and shook my head gently.
My brothers were not just super protective towards me, but they were also over-possessive.
They never let me say "BROTHER" to any other boy or man because they thought that it was their exclusive right.
“I said brotherly vibe, bro. I never said that I got a new brother,” I teased him with a mischievous smile.
He grimaced, but his expression relaxed.
It’s easy to make him work up.
“Okay, don’t dwell on it. You are not at fault in the first place. So, you don’t need to feel any pressure. Rest for now, and I sent you some files. Check them in the morning. I need them by tomorrow night.” David instructed me, and I nodded in response.
I yawned aloud and closed my eyes.
“Sleep now, pup. It has been a long day for you.” I heard David coaxing me to sleep just like he always does.
I just hummed in response, and it didn’t take me long to fall asleep.
I didn’t dream anything, but it felt peaceful.
Still, someone decided to shatter my peace because I opened my eyes again when I heard faint knocking somewhere in my room.
I frowned and looked at the phone first.
The screen was black. David should have hung up after he found me sleeping soundly.
I heard the knocking again, but it wasn’t coming from the door.
I shot up immediately and scanned the room with narrow eyes.
Ethan placed me in the warriors’ quarters not far from the palace. The building was large, and it had five floors, and my room was on the fourth floor.
The first three floors are reserved for the warriors on duty, and the upper two floors are for the warriors on administrative or some other duties like mine.
I narrowed my eyes towards the window from where the knock was coming.
It was locked from the inside, and if someone wanted to harm me, he or she wouldn’t knock on it.
I slowly got up and walked towards the window.
I sniffed harder and froze when I realized who was outside the window.
“What the fk?” I ran towards the window and immediately opened it.
“Are you out of your mind?” I yelled at him while gritting my teeth and immediately moved away so that he could enter the room.
“You were sleeping so soundly.” He muttered while entering the room.
He jumped inside, and I immediately closed the window.
My heart was now beating furiously, fearing that if someone had seen him, then what would happen to me?
I cared about my reputation the most, the trust and respect I gained here; I didn’t want to ruin it at any cost.
“What the fk were you thinking?” I yelled at him as soon as I closed the window.
The next word struck in my throat, and my eyes widened in shock when he suddenly hugged me tightly from behind me, his face now hidden in the crook of my neck.
The sparks that shot through every nerve of my body.
This was the first time that I felt them, and goddess!!!!!
I forgot where I was and who was with me.
I was on cloud nine. The pleasure that those sparks gave to me….

“I missed you. You didn’t come to meet me once.” He whispered, tightening his grip on my waist, my back now pressed to his chest.
I could feel his heartbeat.
It was still steady, but my heart was now running a marathon.
The heat coming from his breath burned my skin there, but it only increased the churning in my stomach.
So, this was what one feels when they come close to their mate, huh?
Now I understand why mates act so clingy and fool around with their mates.
“You…. You sneaked into my room through the window at this hour to see me?” I asked him in shock, tightening my grip on his hands on my waist.
He hummed in response, and that slight vibration that erupted in his chest sent a pleasure shiver straight to my lower belly.
“You are insane,” I muttered angrily, though.
“Yup.” He admitted it, but it only made me shake my head in resignation.
“Why are you here, my king?” I asked him, leaning my head backward.
I rested the back of my head on his shoulder and took a deep breath.
“You already knew about what happened to my first mate, Amber, and I am not ashamed to admit that I am scared.” He admitted without any hesitation.
I realized that he was talking like a normal person who was scared his mate would be hurt by his enemies.
I had my mate with me here, not the alpha king.
“It has been years since she was killed, and you guys still don’t have clues about who orchestrated that attack.” I pointed out the worst scenario between us.
“But you found that clue today.” I furrowed my brows and slowly craned my neck.
At the same time, he also moved his face on my shoulder.
I stopped breathing when his gaze met mine.
His face was so close to mine that his nose brushed against my jawline, and his hot breath fanned my skin there.
For a few seconds, I forgot what I was going to ask him.
His dark black eyes were like an endless abyss. I wanted to drown in them.
I noticed a very slim, dark purple circle around his eyeballs, which was an odd sight, but it only increased the depth of that abyss.
His gaze darkened more, but none of us moved a bit.
We just stared like that for, I don’t know how long.
Our eyes darted between our eyes and lips, and I gulped hard, biting my lower lip unconsciously in the process.
“Don’t do this, Amber. You don’t know how difficult it is for me to keep my hands off you when all I want right now is to kiss you hard and melt you in my embrace.” That slight hoarseness of his voice made me shudder a little; churning in my belly intensified the next.
