Chapter 24 about her wolf

Chapter 24 about her wolf
Lucifer’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“You know very well that gamma wolves are known for their bonds with high-ranking she-wolves, especially a Luna and a beta wolf, my king,” Gabriel spoke this time, his brows knitted tightly.
They looked at each other when I bobbed my head once.
“Amber’s wolf…… although, she is a beta by blood, or this is what we sensed about her bloodline, it seems that the older generation used something to suppress their bloodline because Amber’s wolf, she is definitely not a beta wolf,” Gabriel spoke further in a serious tone.
“Was.” I corrected him, and his expression turned into a confused one.
“Her wolf is dead, Gabriel.” I reminded him when I realized that he was confused by my intervention.
“That’s not possible, my king." Greg spoke this time, his voice raised a bit, but he was serious in his tone.
“When Beta Ethan told us in the unit that her wolf died before she could even surface to save Amber, I wanted to speak, but he stopped me. Amber’s wolf is not dead. As a gamma wolf, not only can I, but my wolf can also feel her.” He added it, but I froze.
Beast was also started by what we heard.
“Why didn’t I feel her? I am her mate. I should have felt her the second we touched, Amber, if her wolf is weak and can’t be sensed normally.” Beast grumbled, both anxious and excited.
“They are gamma wolves, Beast. This power is bestowed upon them by the Moon Goddess herself.” I reminded him but took a deep breath in reality.
“So, you mean to say that her wolf is still alive, but suppressed to the extent where she can’t be sensed normally?” I asked them while raising my brow slightly.
“Yes, my king, and I am sure that her family knows about this, but they kept their mouths shut for some reason all these years. So, it's best to keep it this way until her wolf surfaces on her own.” Greg suggested, and I nodded in confirmation, keeping calm, but deep in my heart, my blood was streaming violently.
My mate wasn’t wolfless. She has her wolf, and not an ordinary wolf, but might be a powerful one.
It doesn’t matter to me if she is powerful or not. Having her with me and Beast is the best blessing we will have from the goddess.
But if she is really a powerful one, then she will be in danger.
“My king,” Gabriel called me cautiously, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“What is it, Gabriel?” I asked him calmly, but my heart was now thudding hard against my ribcage.
“There is something else that we think you should know.” He replied to me cautiously.
I clenched my jaw but waited for him to speak further.
“Today, Beta Ethan asked Amber to prepare a report about the incident of the attack on you. While preparing the report, she …… she actually found something in digital prints th…. That matched with the digital prints of a past case.”
I furrowed my brows, straightening my back in the process.
“It’s about Queen Clara.” He whispered this time, looking at me cautiously, fear evident in his voice.
“Speak,” I commanded coldly.
Beast was now standing up tall at the back of my mind.
They took a deep breath, and it was Greg who spoke this time.
“While preparing that report, Amber followed a digital print and followed it back to the royal pack. She got suspicious and asked me for help. I also checked with her and found that the print is somewhat similar. I asked Amber to trace that further, as we had already met a dead end earlier. It………….. it was like shooting an arrow in the dark, but she actually succeeded in breaking that end.”
He paused and gulped hard, lowering his eyes a little and glancing at Gabriel.
“Let me guess. You found it linked in the palace.” I spoke seriously.
They both shared a glance and nodded in response.
“Yes, my king. Someone from the palace is involved in both attacks.” Gabriel replied to me with a firm nod.
I sucked in a breath but laughed coldly.
I actually had suspicions about it, but had no evidence.
Even if this wasn’t solid evidence, it was enough to strengthen my resolve not to expose Amber’s identity for now.
“But you also need to talk to Amber about this. I am sure that she already knows about Clara by now.” Beast reminded me of a warning.
I huffed, but I agreed with him.
Amber is an intelligent girl, and Clara’s death is not a secret.
Either she thinks that I am still hanging onto Clara’s memories, or I am hesitating because of her wolf.
That’s why she has been avoiding me ever since we left her previous pack.
“Don’t say a word about her wolf. I guess Amber doesn’t know that her wolf is not dead but suppressed. Clara was my Luna and my queen, and they killed her. Amber is still unmated. If those people learn about her wolf……” I didn’t need to finish the sentence because they were smart.
“We got it, my king.” They replied to me in unison.
I nodded to them, and they stood up.
“About that digital print, continue investigating in private. Take Amber’s help if you need it. I am sure that she has already connected all the dots,” I instructed them calmly and took the file from the couch again.
They nodded in response and walked out of the room.
“You really played well all these years. Now is the time for you to meet someone more intelligent than you.” I muttered under my breath, tightening my hold on the pen.

Amber’s P.O.V.

“That’s great, Amber. You don’t know how relieved I am to hear this. Oh, goddess!!! I can sleep peacefully tonight.” Daniel exclaimed aloud in relief, pulling up a dramatically relieved expression on his face, but it only made me smile widely.

“Daniel is right, Amber. This is really a big relief for all of us. I was thinking about coming to the royal pack in a few days and requesting the king to let me take you away. But now…..” David also breathed out in relief.

We were talking on a video call. After finishing the intense training and a routine inspection of all the border checkpoints, I was tired to the bone, but I promised my family that I would do a video call every night before going to sleep.

“The royal pack is totally different from our pack, David. Most of the people here are broad-minded, and Ethan told them that my wolf died while saving me during a rogue attack when I was only fifteen. You …. You should have seen their faces, bro. They all widened their eyes in awe.” I told them about what Ethan told everyone.

They all widened their eyes in shock.

“Did…. Did he know something?” David asked me anxiously.
"I don't know, bro. He gave me a knowing look when I thanked him. It seems that he knows something that shouldn't reach him."
