Chapter 140 The wolf camp
Chapter 140 The wolf camp
ELARA’S POV
As we arrived at the edge of the gathering, I felt the magic of the wards I had put in place. None of the wolves here knew of the magic protecting this place, and it was better to stayed that way. I didn’t trust any of the alphas enough yet to inform them about that.
The ward rippled and shifted as we walked through it, appearing in a clearing.
Alicent shifted beside me “I can feel the magic more, now that you talked about it, it’s a strange feeling”
I glanced at her as we walked “what does it feel like?”
She thought for a while “it feels like – like something soft and light brushing against your skin, but when you resist it, it feels stronger, like it grows stronger with every resistance, is that how it works?” She asked.
I nodded “exactly, that’s how it works, things and creatures not given permission will not be able to get through because their bodies will naturally counter it, thereby allowing the ward to take full effect and keeping them in place”
Her eyes widened as she listened to me “you know, I knew magic and supernatural creatures were real, of course I’m one” she laughed “but I didn’t really grasp how big a part magic played in our lives, not until these past few months I’ve spent with you, it’s shocking really”
“What’s so shocking about it?” I asked her as we continued walking deeper into the east forest, we had yet to each where the wolves were.
“I mean, for instance, you can literally jump through time and even take me along with you. In the blink of an eye, we left Nythera and here we are, isn’t it shocking to you?”
I shook my head “not really, I’m used to all this”
“Oh well, I know, that was a stupid question, I’m just over excited, I guess, I just realized it’s bigger than I thought. You know. I keep thinking about possibilities”
“What possibilities?” I glanced at her as she plucked a leaf from a nearby plant before tossing it into the air.
“The possibility of everything, there’s something bigger than us”
“There always is” I told her.
“I mean, haven’t you thought about what those visions meant, those memories about the last, about us, what or who is in control of that? You literally came back as a deity”
Now that she mentioned it, I had thought about it a few times, thought about the possibility of something bigger overseeing all of this, all of us.
“It’s so big, there’s a lot to learn, but where will we get the knowledge from?” Alicent said. And that was the real question.
Nobody knew how or what the deities were created from, all we knew was that we came into existence and we knew our duties. I knew I had an affinity to the moon, but what if the moon in itself was something much bigger. Bigger than everything we ever knew.
“I think you have a point Alicent” I told her, but not in the way she saw things “maybe there would be something bigger out there, something that could help us defeat Nyxar without putting myself or others at risk”
She turned to face me “well, I didn’t see it that way” a frown painted her features “but now that you mention it. Maybe there is and maybe all we have to do is look closer”.
We were so close to the wolves now and I could hear their voices so I decided to continue this conversation later. I merely nodded at her and she understood. It was time for business.
We finally waded through the trees and bushes and found ourselves in a clearing with people and wolves moving about, different houses and make shift tents scattered around the vast expanse of land.
“Wow, this is huge” I blurted out before I could stop myself. Alicent nodded and grinned beside me, she had organized the whole thing.
The wolves paid me no mind as I had dressed in plain and regular clothing. They glanced at us and when they did not perceive us as threats, they kept moving along.
“I didn’t know it was this organized” I said again as I began to walk deeper into the small village they had built, or rather, large village.
“And this is just the residential area, most of the wolves are farther down into the forest, this clearing is mostly for the women and children, the rest wolves are there fighting and training”
“The women don’t train?” I turned to look at her.
“Oh they do, I meant for the older women and maybe pregnant women, the rest women train”
I nodded. That was good.
“So, where are the alphas causing a ruckus?” I asked her. The wolves about us still continued to pay us no mind, I knew it was because I had also dimmed my aura so it wouldn’t seep out and intimidate them yet. This was a surprise visit. No one had to know who I was just yet.
Alicent gestured towards the father end of the village “that’s where most of them meet and train together, all the alphas and their lunas” I nodded and we began to walk towards there. I admired the work that had been put into building this place and making it comfortable during this training period.
And I also longed to see Alpha Gerald and Alpha Hunter, they had pledged their alliance to me. But most especially, I wanted to see Alpha Gerald’s new mate. Maybe they would even have a pup by now.
But the closer we got to the training ground, the more the wolves multiplied, more wolves walked past us as they recognized Alicent and not me, and even though my aura was dimmed, they could still feel it in their bones not to attack or question me.
As we got to the training ground, we began to hear shouts and grunts. It was an impossible wide space, built for fighting, both with weapons and in wolf form, and in the middle of the space, were two massive wolves, blood dripping from their body.
“Oh they’re at it again” Alicent groaned.
