Chapter 129 0129
Chapter 129 0129
In Silver Pack, peace filled the dinner hall as Asher, Mira, and little Zane sat together eating dinner like a happy family. The warm light from the candles reflected softly across the large hall while servants moved quietly around them. Asher sat at the center of the table with a small smile resting on his handsome face as he continued placing pieces of meat and food into Mira and Zane’s plates.
“Daddy, Zane is full,” Zane suddenly said with his childish voice as he rubbed his tiny stomach with both hands and looked up at Asher with wide innocent eyes.
Asher burst into laughter at the sight of the little boy. “You need to eat more if you want to become strong,” he said playfully while raising one eyebrow toward Mira.
Mira covered her mouth while trying to hold back her laughter as she watched the father and son together.
Zane looked down seriously at his plate before forcing another piece of meat into his mouth. “I want to become strong so I can protect Mommy,” he said proudly while chewing his food.
Asher smiled proudly and rubbed the boy’s hair gently. “Good boy,” he said softly.
The peaceful atmosphere in the hall was suddenly shattered when the large doors burst open loudly.
Bang!
“Alpha Asher!” Dax shouted as he rushed inside, breathing heavily.
The loud sound frightened Zane immediately. The little boy jerked in fear before bursting into tears and hugging Asher tightly. Mira quickly stood up from her chair in shock while Asher frowned deeply at Dax.
“What is the meaning of this, Dax?” Asher yelled angrily while patting Zane gently to calm him down.
Dax lowered his head apologetically before raising a small folded paper in the air. “Forgive me, Alpha, but we have a huge problem,” he said seriously.
Asher’s face immediately darkened. “Speak.”
Dax swallowed hard before speaking. “A letter just arrived from Alpha Drevan of Shadowfang Pack. He says he is coming tonight with his warriors to attack Silver Pack.”
The entire hall instantly became silent.
“What?” Mira whispered in shock as her body froze completely.
She hurried toward Dax and snatched the letter from his hand. Her eyes quickly scanned through the words written on the paper, and the more she read, the paler her face became. Fear consumed her completely as her trembling fingers loosened their grip on the paper, causing it to fall onto the floor. Slowly, she lifted her terrified eyes toward Asher.
“What are we going to do?” she asked weakly, her voice shaking badly.
Asher’s jaw tightened angrily as rage burned in his eyes. “Drevan…” he muttered dangerously under his breath.
He slowly stood from his chair while lifting Zane into his arms. Then he walked toward Mira and held her trembling hand tightly, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I will handle this,” he said calmly despite the anger burning inside him. “You don’t need to be afraid, okay?”
Mira swallowed hard before nodding weakly, though fear still filled her eyes.
“Take Zane to the room and don’t come out until I say so,” Asher ordered gently while handing the little boy over to her.
Immediately, tears filled Mira’s eyes. “What about you?” she cried. “What if he hurts you?”
Asher gently touched her face. “Listen to me carefully, Mira,” he said seriously. “You and Zane are my life. Nothing must happen to either of you. As for Drevan… I will handle him.”
But Zane refused to let go of Asher’s clothes. The little boy clung tightly to him while shaking his head.
“Daddy…” Zane whispered fearfully.
Asher forced a small smile onto his face and kissed his forehead. “Zane, you have to go with Mommy for now. Daddy has something important to do.”
Zane slowly nodded before finally loosening his grip and allowing Mira to carry him.
Asher then pulled Mira closer and kissed her gently on the lips before using his thumb to wipe away her tears. “Now go,” he whispered softly. “And don’t come out until I tell you to.”
Mira nodded weakly before turning around and leaving the dining hall while holding Zane tightly against her chest.
The moment she disappeared, Asher’s expression immediately turned cold and dangerous. He slowly turned toward Dax, who still stood nearby waiting for orders.
“What do we do, Alpha?” Dax asked seriously.
“Gather every warrior in the pack,” Asher ordered immediately. “Tell them Shadowfang Pack is coming.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Dax answered quickly.
“Move all children, mothers, and elders to the hidden underground shelter. No one leaves until the battle is over.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Go!” Asher shouted.
Dax immediately rushed out of the hall to carry out the orders.
Asher remained standing there alone for a moment while clenching his fists tightly. Rage burned inside his chest as he slammed one hand heavily against the table.
“Drevan…” he growled coldly under his breath. “You are playing with fire.”
Without wasting another second, Asher stormed out of the hall to prepare for war.
Less than two hours later, the entire Silver Pack had transformed into a battlefield. Warriors dressed in heavy battle armor stood outside the pack walls holding sharp weapons in their hands. Torches burned brightly across the dark night while tension filled the air. Every child, elder, and mother had already been hidden safely underground as ordered.
At the very front stood Asher dressed in black warrior clothing with a weapon resting in his hand. His face was cold and emotionless as he stared into the dark distance ahead of him. Though he hated the thought of another war, he knew Drevan would never stop unless someone ended this madness once and for all.
Suddenly, the distant sound of horses echoed through the night.
“They’re here,” Dax muttered beside him.
“Everyone, prepare yourselves!” Dax shouted to the Silver Pack warriors.
Immediately, weapons were raised while archers prepared their arrows. As everyone stared into the darkness ahead.
Soon, a large black horse pulling carriage slowly emerged from the shadows before finally stopping a short distance away from Silver Pack. Behind them stood dozens of Shadowfang warriors with cold expressions on their faces.
After a moment, the carriage door slowly opened.
The first person to step out was Griffin. A wicked smile spread across his face the moment his eyes landed on Asher. Shortly after him, Drevan stepped down from the carriage dressed entirely in dark warrior armor.
“Dear old friend,” Drevan mocked with a chuckle as he slowly walked closer. “We meet again.”
Asher stared at him with pure disgust. “Drevan, take your warriors and leave my pack,” he warned coldly. “Don’t start something you cannot finish.”
Drevan stared at him silently for a few seconds before suddenly bursting into loud laughter. “I will leave,” he smirked darkly, “but only after Silver Pack belongs to me.”
“Then you’ll have to kill me first,” Asher shouted fiercely.
Drevan’s smile widened dangerously. “Exactly why I came here tonight.”
Asher tightened his grip on his weapon. “Drevan, leave now. You were once my friend. I do not want your blood on my hands.”
“No,” Drevan hissed hatefully. “You think too highly of yourself, Asher. You are nothing but a coward.”
One of Asher’s warriors suddenly roared angrily and charged toward Drevan after hearing the insult. But before anyone could react properly.
Slash!
Drevan moved faster than lightning and swung his blade through the warrior’s neck. The man’s head rolled across the ground while his body collapsed lifelessly.
Gasps filled the battlefield instantly.
Drevan smirked wickedly while blood dripped from his blade.
“Drevan!” Asher roared furiously as rage exploded inside him after watching one of his men die before his eyes.
Then he raised his weapon high into the air.
“ATTACK!”
Immediately, the warriors of Silver Pack charged forward with loud battle cries as the brutal war between Silver Pack and Shadowfang Pack finally began.
