Chapter 126 0126
Chapter 126 0126
The grand meeting hall of the Silver Pack was filled with murmurs as elders and important pack members sat in their seats, waiting patiently for the meeting to begin. At the center of the hall, seated proudly on the high Alpha chair, was Asher. Standing beside him was Mira, dressed in a long, flowing gown. Her hair rested beautifully over her shoulders, and although she tried to remain calm, her heart beat wildly inside her chest. She still could not believe how much her life had changed within such a short time. From being rejected, she was now standing beside the Alpha himself before the entire pack.
Dax stepped forward from beside the elders and cleared his throat loudly enough to catch everyone’s attention. “Alpha Asher has something important to announce,” he said. Immediately, the small noises and whispers inside the hall died down. Every face slowly turned toward Asher with curiosity and anticipation written clearly in their eyes. Even the elders straightened slightly in their seats as they waited for him to speak.
Asher slowly rose from his chair, his eyes swept across the hall carefully, meeting the gaze of his people one after another, before finally turning toward Mira. The moment his eyes landed on her, the coldness in his expression softened instantly. A small smile appeared on his lips as he slowly stretched his hand toward her. Mira’s heart fluttered softly at the gesture. She smiled shyly before placing her hand carefully in his palm. The moment their hands touched, a warmth spread through her chest.
Asher gently lifted her hand and pressed a soft kiss against the back of it. A few soft murmurs and smiles spread through the crowd at the intimate gesture. Mira’s cheeks turned slightly pink, but she did not pull away. Instead, she looked at Asher with love shining brightly in her eyes. After kissing her hand, Asher slowly turned back toward the crowd.
“The members of the Silver Pack,” Asher began, his deep voice echoing across the hall, “I welcome you all here today to witness something important to me.” He paused briefly before looking at Mira once again. “Welcome, Mira Wolves… my chosen mate, my future wife, and soon-to-be crowned Luna of the Silver Pack.”
The entire hall erupted into loud applause and cheers almost immediately. Some pack members smiled happily while others nodded in approval. Even the elders seemed pleased with the announcement. Mira stood frozen for a moment as emotions overwhelmed her heart. Tears nearly filled her eyes as she stared at Asher in disbelief. She still could not fully believe that this was truly happening. After everything she had suffered.
Asher gently squeezed her hand before speaking again. “The official wedding ceremony will be announced soon,” he added calmly.
The applause grew even louder. Some pack members began congratulating them loudly while others smiled excitedly. Mira could not stop smiling as she looked at Asher lovingly.
But suddenly
The large doors of the hall burst open loudly.
A guard rushed inside hurriedly, breathing heavily as though he had run all the way there. His sudden entrance instantly silenced the hall again. Everyone turned toward him in confusion and worry. Even Asher’s expression darkened slightly at the interruption.
“Alpha…” the guard called out quickly while bowing his head. “Joel is here.”
Shock instantly spread through the hall like wildfire. Loud gasps and whispers filled the room. Many people had believed Joel was dead because he had disappeared without leaving any trace behind. Some even believed rogues had killed him in the forest. Hearing that he was alive completely stunned everyone.
Asher frowned deeply in surprise. “Let him in,” he ordered immediately.
“Yes, Alpha,” the guard responded before rushing back outside.
Only moments later, the guard returned. But this time he was not alone. Walking behind him was Joel himself, looking weaker and thinner. Beside Joel stood a young woman with long, striking red hair that fell down her back. She stayed quietly beside him, as the entire hall stared at them.
“Joel,” Asher called out in visible shock.
Joel immediately bowed his head respectfully. “Alpha Asher,” he greeted.
Asher stared at him carefully. “What happened to you? Where have you been all this time? You disappeared without leaving any trace behind.”
Joel lowered his head painfully before speaking. “Alpha… I was almost killed.”
The hall erupted into another wave of shocked whispers. Mira frowned deeply while listening.
Joel swallowed hard before forcing the next words out. “Luna Mila tried to kill me.”
A loud gasp spread through the hall instantly. Even the elders looked shocked by the accusation.
“What do you mean?” Asher asked sharply, confusion and anger mixing together in his voice.
Joel pointed weakly toward the red-haired young woman standing beside him. “Luna Mila stabbed me in the chest and left me to die in the forest. This lady found my body and took me back to her pack. Their healers saved my life, but I remained in a coma for two months before finally waking up.”
Whispers filled the hall again as everyone stared at Joel in disbelief. Mira slowly lowered her gaze as sadness filled her chest. She wondered just how far Mila’s wickedness had truly gone.
“Silence!” Asher suddenly commanded while raising one hand into the air.
Immediately, the hall became quiet again.
Asher’s eyes darkened dangerously as he stared directly at Joel. “Why would Mila try to kill you?” he asked coldly.
Joel froze. Shame covered his face as he lowered his head again without speaking. Everyone waited for his answer.
“Speak!” Asher ordered louder this time.
Joel suddenly dropped to his knees before the Alpha. “I’m sorry, Alpha Asher,” he said shakily. “I should never have gotten involved with Luna Mila. I know what I did was wrong.”
Asher frowned deeply, clearly not understanding what Joel meant. “What are you talking about?” he demanded.
Joel lifted his head slowly, fear and shame written all over his face. It looked as though forcing the next words out physically hurt him.
“Eric…” Joel began weakly before pausing. “Eric is my son.”
The hall fell into complete silence.
For a long moment, nobody moved. Nobody even breathed properly. It was as though everyone was trying to process the shocking confession they had just heard. Then, suddenly loud gasps exploded throughout the hall, followed by endless whispers.
Mira’s eyes widened in complete shock.
Asher himself looked frozen. His expression slowly darkened with disbelief and rage. If Joel was telling the truth… then that meant Eric was never his biological son. For years, he had believed the child belonged to him.
“How sure are you?” Asher finally asked.
Joel nodded quickly. “I’m certain, Alpha. We can run a DNA test at the pack hospital to prove it. Please… I only want my son back.”
The more Joel spoke, the angrier Asher became. His fists clenched tightly at his sides while veins appeared visibly on his neck. The betrayal burned deeply inside him. At that moment, he almost wished Mila were still alive just so he could look directly into her eyes and demand answers himself.
“Dax,” Asher called coldly.
“Yes, Alpha,” Dax responded immediately while stepping forward.
“Take Joel to the pack hospital with Eric,” Asher ordered. “I want a DNA test done immediately to confirm whether this claim is true.”
“Yes, Alpha,” Dax replied with a nod.
As Joel was pulled back to his feet by the guards, Asher pointed angrily toward him. “And if you are lying to me,” he said, “I swear I will kill you myself.”
Joel lowered his head silently as the guards began leading him away from the hall.
