Chapter 141 Chapter 142
Chapter 141 Chapter 142
"What's the issue, sister-in-law? Giving up already?" Leroy asked Mara, who was panting heavily on the ground, with a taunting tone.
"Giving up? What does that even mean?" Mara asked Leroy as she stood up from the ground and launched at him once again.
After meeting with Leroy, who had promised to help her avenge Dave's death, Mara had asked him to teach her how to fight.
Being born in a royal family and also being the only daughter, fighting was something she was never taught to do, as her father believed that she would always have guards by her side to protect her. But now that she wanted to avenge Dave's death, she was determined to learn how to fight in case the need for that ever came up in doing the process. And for the past few months, Leroy, who was always busy during the daytime, has been sparing all his evenings to train personally with her and to teach her how to fight.
Launching at Leroy once again, it didn't take long before she was thrown to the ground once again.
"Sister-in-law, are you sure that you aren't going to give up, because it's already obvious that you are never going to succeed in beating me even in the next ten years," Leroy said to Mara with a taunting tone.
"Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I'm never going to give up. Giving up is for the weak, and I'm not weak," Mara said to Leroy while still sitting on the ground.
"And who said giving up is for the weak? Is that what Dave told you? Leroy asked Mara, who didn't give him any reply.
"You see, Mara, giving up is not always for the weak; sometimes even strong people give up, and it's not because they have become weak but because they want to stay alive. Imagine if Dave had given up on his ambitions to become the Alpha of a Pack; he would have still been alive today, and you would have been having a great life with him right now alongside your kid. So you see, giving up isn't always a sign of weakness; sometimes you have to give up in order to stay alive," Leroy said to Mara, who at first seemed to be affected by what he had just said, but without warning, she immediately launched at him once again.
Leroy, on the other hand, despite not expecting her to attack again, was fast enough to block her attack.
"Nice try, Roy. I know you are trying to discourage me from avenging Dave's death, but it's not going to work. You will need to come up with a more convincing story to dissuade me from doing what I want to do," Mara said to Leroy, who was still blocking her strikes.
"Well, I'm not trying to dissuade you; I'm only telling you the truth, and you also know that," Leroy said to Mara as he blocked her attack and gave her another strike that sent her falling to the ground once again, and at the same time, Leroy's phone started ringing.
"I think that's enough for today," Leroy said to Mara as he walked towards the place where a towel was hanging, and with that he took it and wiped away the sweat on his face before heading towards the counter where his ringing phone was.
Taking the phone, he checked the caller ID before picking it up and placing it on his ear.
"Hi Tony, how are you doing?" Leroy asked him after picking up the call.
On hearing the name, Mara, who was still sitting on the ground, immediately turned her gaze towards Leroy, but unfortunately she couldn't hear what was being said from the end of the call since the phone wasn't on loudspeaker.
"I'm doing good, boss. What about you?" The voice of the caller sounded through the phone.
"I'm doing good too. This one you are calling me; I hope everything is okay?" Leroy asked him as he sat down on the chair beside him.
"Yes, boss, everything is okay; there was something that I just wanted to ask you," Tony said to Leroy.
"Okay, what is it?" Leroy asked him.
"Well, it's about the lady I'm keeping an eye on. Does she have a boyfriend or a mate?" Tony asked Leroy, who furrowed his brows while wondering why he was asking him such a question.
"And can I know why you are asking, or are you planning to make her your girlfriend or mate?" Leroy asked him with an inquisitive tone.
"No, of course, boss, it's nothing like that. I know that I'm supposed to get close to her in order to keep an eye on her, but I'm never going to make the mistake of falling in love with her," Tony said to Leroy through the phone.
"Then why are you asking if she has a mate or a boyfriend?" Leroy asked Tony with an inquisitive tone.
"Well, there's a guy that came looking for her today, and sincerely, he looked cold and dangerous beyond explanation and had this deadly aura circulating around him. With the way he was possessive around her and also the way the lady allowed him to get closer to her however he wanted, it was clear that he was either her mate or boyfriend," Tony said to Leroy, who immediately thought about Adrian, as Mara had told him earlier that Adrian had
"And did you hear the guy's name, or if I send you his picture, will you be able to recognise him?" Leroy asked Tony through the phone.
"Well, I didn't get the chance to hear his name, but if you send me his picture, I will be able to recognise him," Tony said to Leroy.
"Okay, give me minutes; I will send you the picture right now," Leroy said to Tony before quickly sending him the picture.
"Have you seen the picture I sent you?" Leroy asked Tony after sending him the picture.
"Yes, I have seen it, and it's the guy in question," Tony said to Leroy.
"Okay, now that's a problem," Leroy said to Tony through the phone.
