Chapter 238 238
Chapter 238 238
“Lucious!” I shouted, his name ripping out of my throat like a curse.
A wicked grin spread across his face.
“So, you already know who I am?” he said with a dark laugh as he took another slow step toward us. “Good. That makes this even more interesting.”
A wave of panic hit me, but my instincts took over.
Without thinking, I grabbed Kiara and Jasmine and pulled them behind me, shielding them with my body.
My heart pounded against my chest as I turned to look at Gab.
I expected fear or shock. But instead a cold smile slowly spread across his face.
“Gab, don't tell me this was your plan all along!” I shouted, staring at him in shock. “You brought us here for him?”
Lucious chuckled, clearly enjoying every second of it.
“What were you expecting?” he said with a mocking smile. Then he turned to Gab and slowly opened his arms. “Come here, my boy.”
Not even for a second did Gab hesitate.
He looked at us one last time, then he turned his back on his own family and walked straight toward Lucious.
Without a word, he stepped into his open arms.
The sight hit me like a punch to the chest.
No, this couldn’t be happening.
“No!” Jasmine cried, her voice breaking. She let go of my arm and dropped to her knees, hitting the damp ground with a heavy thud. “Gab please!” she begged through her tears. “Don’t do this to us. Please!”
Her tears fell onto the dirt beneath her.
“I already have!” Gab roared.
His face twisted with anger, his eyes burning with years of pain and hatred.
“Did you really think I was going to let all of you live happily after your parents killed my mother?”
His words crashed over us like a bolt of lightning.
“What are you even saying, Gab?! This doesn’t make any sense!” I shouted back in absolute fury, my fists clenching so hard my nails bit into my palms. “You and I both know the truth! Clara was not your biological mother! She was a monster too!”
Before anyone could respond, the trees around us suddenly shook.
Leaves rustled loudly as dozens of rough-looking men stepped out of the shadows.
Within seconds, they had surrounded the entire clearing, closing in from every direction.
It was an ambush.
Every single one of them was armed and ready to fight.
There were far too many. One quick look around was enough to tell me the truth.
Getting out of here alive was going to be nearly impossible.
I looked down at my hands as my heart pounded against my chest.
Grandpa, grandma, Dad and Mom had spent months teaching Jasmine and me how to fight and awaken the powers inside us.
We still hadn’t discovered how strong we truly were. But as I looked at the dozens of enemies surrounding us, one thing became clear.
We weren’t getting out of this without a fight.
I slowly clenched my fists.
If this was where my story ended, then I would rather die fighting than surrender without putting up a fight.
Lucious threw his head back and laughed, the sound cold and filled with madness.
“Every one of you is going to die here today,” he said, his eyes shining with cruel delight. “And after I’m done with you, I’ll hunt down someone very special to you and kill them too.”
A wicked smile spread across his face.
“But not yet.”
He looked at the men surrounding us and gave a lazy wave of his hand.
“Take them,” he ordered. “I want to have a little fun with them before I end their pathetic lives.”
Several of the thugs charged at us, attacking all at once.
The first man came straight at me, throwing a wild punch.
I quickly ducked under his arm.
Using all my strength, I drove my fist into his stomach.
The impact knocked the air out of his lungs.
He doubled over, gasping for breath.
Beside me, one of the men rushed toward Kiara and reached for her.
But she didn’t panic.
The moment he got close, she swung her fist with all her strength and landed a solid punch right on his cock.
The man let out a painful cry and instantly dropped to his knees, clutching himself in agony.
At the same time, Jasmine charged at another large attacker.
She leaped onto his back, wrapped her arm tightly around his neck, and locked him in a chokehold.
The man staggered, trying to shake her off, but Jasmine shifted her weight and threw him off balance.
A second later, he crashed hard onto the dirt with a loud thud.
The three of us quickly moved together until our backs were pressed against each other, forming a tight circle.
We were breathing hard, our chests rising and falling as we faced the men surrounding us from every direction.
No one spoke. Everyone was waiting for the next attack.
Then my heart sank.
More men began stepping out of the thick bushes.
Within seconds, the clearing was filled with even more of Lucious’s men.
The odds against us had just become even worse.
“Oh, I see you all want to act tough, right?!” Lucious barked, walking slowly toward us as his men held their positions.
“Don’t come a single step closer to us, or else I will kill you myself!” I roared, stepping in front of the girls.
“Kill me? Your pathetic parents couldn’t kill me for so long! How on earth do you think you can kill me?!” Lucious mocked. He threw his head back and spat directly toward my face, the insult burning hotter than any physical blow.
Lucious started walking toward me.
Every step was slow and steady. I kept my eyes locked on him, refusing to lower my guard for even a second.
Then it happened.
In the blink of an eye, he kicked his foot across the ground.
A cloud of sand shot into the air and slammed straight into my face.
“Ah!” I gasped, the sharp grains scratching my eyes.
Before I could blink or clear the burning sand from my eyes, Lucious was already moving.
He rushed at us like a predator.
In one swift motion, he reached past me and yanked Kiara out of our defensive circle.
“Jason!” Kiara screamed.
She kicked, struggled, and clawed at his arm with everything she had, trying desperately to break free.
But his grip never loosened.
“Let her go!!” I screamed blindly, trying to charge forward.
Before I could reach Kiara, Gab slammed into me from the side.
The force of the tackle sent me crashing to the ground.
At the same time, another huge thug grabbed Jasmine and forced her arms behind her back.
I fought with everything I had, but Gab pinned me down with crushing strength, pressing my chest into the hard dirt.
More men rushed in and piled on top of us.
The weight drove the air from my lungs, leaving both Jasmine and me struggling to breathe.
“Gab... I never, ever expected you to betray your own family!” I choked out, staring up at my older brother in absolute agony and disgust.
“There is no such thing as family to me,” Gab spat coldly, staring down at me without a single hint of remorse.
Lucious threw his head back and laughed.
Before anyone could stop him, he grabbed Kiara from behind and locked one arm tightly around her neck.
He pulled her against his chest, using her as a human shield.
Kiara struggled in his grip, her whole body shaking as she desperately tried to break free.
But Lucious didn’t loosen his hold for even a second.
“Why don’t I have a little bit of fun with her right here in front of your very eyes?” Lucious sneered.
His rough hand slowly slid down the side of her body, the movement slow and deliberate, meant to provoke me more than anything else.
A sick smile spread across his face as he watched my reaction.
“This is going to be so much fun,” he said.
Then he pulled his hand away, slowly licking one of his fingers with a chilling grin.
Every instinct inside me screamed to tear him apart.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” I screamed, my voice cracking with rage.
I was still fighting with everything I had, but for the first time real fear took hold of me.
Kiara was trapped in his arms, crying as her whole body trembled with terror.
Seeing her like that made something inside me break.
“Stay away from my friend, you disgusting monster! I will kill you myself!” Jasmine shrieked from the dirt, fighting against the heavy boots pinning her down.
Lucious only laughed louder, the cruel sound echoing through the empty clearing.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart,” he said with a twisted smile. “After I’m done having my fun with her, I’ll come for you too.”
Every word that came out of his mouth made my blood boil.
Rage burned through my entire body.
It felt as if my wolf was clawing from deep inside me, desperate to break free and tear him apart.
Just then, a powerful, commanding voice sliced through the clearing like a lightning bolt.
“Let the children go right now!”
The authority in that voice was impossible to ignore.
Everyone froze.
The thugs stopped in their tracks.
Lucious tightened his grip on Kiara.
At the same time, every head slowly turned toward the edge of the woods.
