Chapter 42

(Juliette's POV).

I quickly distanced myself from Damian. He started to sit up and looked at me.

"Now do you trust me?" he asked.

I stood up with my hands clenched into fists. "I don't want to discuss it anymore," I said coldly. "Get out of my room."

"Juliette...."

"Get out, Damian!" I exclaim irritably. I had to point at the door with my hand. I wasn't in the mood to argue with him because I felt so messed up.

I couldn't remember what happened to me last night. Was I really having a nightmare and delirious when Damian came into my room? He said that I hugged him and didn't let him go. It hurt my pride and I felt that he hated me even more for letting me lean on his chest.

I shouldn't have done any of that, but I really don't remember anything.

I continued to stare at Damian who was getting out of bed. My gaze didn't leave him until I saw him walk out of my room. I hurried to close the door because I didn't want to be disturbed by Damian.

I sat on the edge of the bed. Feeling so uneasy thinking about what Sam had told him. I wanted to run away from Damian so that I could live without the guilt of my parent's death, but I was also afraid of the risks I would face later.

I touched my stomach and rubbed it gently. "Should we live together? I can do my best to raise you," I whispered to my baby wolf.

At that moment, I heard my cell phone buzzing and saw an incoming message from Sam.

[If you've made your decision. Meet me tomorrow night in the middle of the forest.]

I became increasingly nervous as I read the message from Sam. I didn't know what to do. How could I leave without Damian knowing? He must have also asked Kaye to keep an eye on me at night. The moment I left the house, Kaye would know about it and would immediately tell Damian.

[I'll take care of Kaye. And you can take care of Damian.]

I widened my eyes. How does Sam take care of Kaye?

[Okay.]

I replied to Sam's message and squeezed my cell phone with my trembling hands. I don't know if this is the right thing for me to do, but one thing is for sure. I couldn't continue to stand by Damian with the guilt and hate I felt for him.

"I can't just forgive him after what he has done to me," I whispered.

***

That night, I made sure that Damian slept in his room. I stayed up all night feeling uneasy. Sam had texted me that he had taken care of Kaye for me so that I could leave the house safely. But I wasn't sure if Damian was asleep or not.

I decided to leave right then and there with a nervousness that engulfed me. I made sure no one saw me jump out of the balcony of my room and ran hastily and fearfully into the forest.

I gasped when I saw Damian's man patrolling and I quickly ran to hide. I didn't know if they could smell me or not, but I hoped they couldn't.

I immediately ran in the opposite direction when I saw that their figures had disappeared in the darkness of the night. I don't know how long I had been running, but I was breathing heavily and tired. For some reason, I feel tired more easily since I found out I was pregnant. Maybe it was the effect of the baby in my womb.

I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. Standing up with both legs shaking violently. I took a deep breath before you walked through the forest, almost passing Damian's territory.

At that moment, I saw a black shadowy figure standing a few meters away from me. Staring straight at me without any movement.

"Sam?" I called out hesitantly. When I took a step closer. My body shivered from the cold and the sudden fear I felt. I gripped the hem of my clothes. My eyes widened in alarm as I smelled a foreign odor I had never known.

No, it doesn't. Is he Damian's enemy?

I reflexively stepped back as the shadow moved toward me. When I tried to turn around, it was suddenly standing tall in front of me.

He had piercing eyes that were a deep black color that matched his hair. His well-built and muscular body was tall in front of me. I could tell quickly that he was an Alpha. Her aura and smell were so strong that I felt dizzy.

"W-Who are you?" I asked in a trembling voice.

I didn't want to die just like that. Especially with my pregnancy condition.

"I regret that it was so easy for me," he said. His voice sounded low and deep.

"D-don't kill me," I pleaded. I dragged my legs and felt numb. I thought about running away, my brain was commanding, but somehow my body wouldn't cooperate.

"I won't kill you. Not now," he said.

I felt an overwhelming sense of panic as his hand reached out towards me. I regained my sanity and quickly ran away from him.

I ran like a madman with my breath catching. Several times I stumbled over rocks or broken tree branches and fell. But I tried to get up quickly and run away again.

"No... This isn't what I expected..." I kept mumbling as I ran. I didn't know where I was at the moment, but I seemed to have passed Damian's estate.

Oh my!

I gasped in shock as I saw a huge chasm in front of me. I had nowhere else to run as I again smelled the unfamiliar odor approaching me.

My breath caught. I was so out of breath that my chest felt like it was going to explode. I turned around and stared straight ahead of me as I saw him reappear in the darkness. Staring at me with those piercing eyes of his that were so frightening. I swallowed my saliva with difficulty.

"There is no escape anymore, Kitten," he grinned.
