Chapter 78
Chapter 74
Aw house?” I turned to Fiona.
She had served me breakfast that morning in the private dining room and wouldn't just leave until she saw me eat.
Fiona leaned by the chair next to where I sat, her eyes locked to mine.
“I don't have an idea, Luna.” She shifted her gaze from me. “ By the way, isn’t Alpha aware you were in the pack house last night? He seemed unusually surprised during the meeting today.”
I stopped making attempts to eat the food in front of me when Fiona revealed those truths to me.
“Alpha had a private discussion with you all today?” I had no idea it was this serious.
A hit of surprise flickered Fiona's eyes.“ Yes he did,” she replied. “ But how come he isn't aware of your presence in the pack house? He actually thinks it's your sister, Mira”
At the moment, the issue became more confusing and alarming at the same time.
I mean, how can Alpha think I'm Mira? What's going on? Was he in any way expecting Mira in the pack house too?
“Wait a minute…” I pushed the meal aside just to focus on the issue at hand.“ Did my sister ever show up last night?” I said, my eyes widening.
“Not at all. But Alpha kept insisting she was the one he saw and not you” Fiona confessed again and something important trained my mind.
Yesterday, I had to leave our pack very late because of Mira. We were supposed to fix something together but she left, suddenly disappearing to god-knows-where.
When I couldn’t wait any longer, Dad offered to take me to the Blue Moon Pack himself since it was already late. I arrived really late in the pack house before Dad decided to leave. I pleaded with him to stay back till it was morning but he insisted and rode off that night.
About the horrible thing Alpha confronted me earlier about, I was guilty of it, but couldn’t really explain how it all happened.
Even when Alpha didn't get aroused and was deep into sleep, I still managed to force my way in just to satisfy my desires.
I really did miss him…that is true. But what happened last night still reminds me of how shameless I was as a woman.
I hadn’t realized just how foolish I’d been until Alpha confronted me about my lewd behavior this morning.
Now, I feel awful and shameful. This left me wondering if I was still Annabelle or now a slut.
“I think I've lost my appetite” I sighed, taking a clean napkin to wipe my lips.
“But you have barely touched your food, Luna. Or you don't like the meal? I can make you something else if you don't mind”
Fiona noticed the sudden shift in my mood but insisted I eat.
“It’s okay. I'm fine” I put the napkin down and asked. “When did Alpha go? He isn't in the pack house”
Fiona walked a little from the chair she leaned on, suddenly shifting the meal back to me before responding.
“I saw him ride away earlier.” She replied. “ But you need to eat , Luna. You keep starving yourself and it's hurting me” she said, her words unwavering.
Ignoring her plea, I rose up from the chair, but suddenly narrowed my eyes back to her.
“Just clear up the table. I can't eat anything for now” I said with an unsettling expression on my face.
“In that case, you need some rest. You look tired” Fiona began to clear the table, not willing to push further.
Immediately I opened the door to leave, my eyes collided with Jared's hawk- like eyes by the door.
As he sighted me, he bowed slightly.
I wanted to ask him why he was following me all around in the pack house but had to swallow it up. Jared would never do this if Alpha hasn't assigned him to the task.
Tilting my head, I decided to inquire about Alpha's whereabouts from Jared instead.
“Um, do you have an idea where Alpha could be in?”
“Alpha is out of the pack for now. He will be back shortly” Jared revealed.
I gave a slight nod, assuming Alpha had gone off to one of his usual Alpha meetings.
I didn't like the way things have changed between us after I found out about his death. The purpose of my return was to improve our relationship but I guess I ruined it all last night with my lewd character.
“I’ll just be in the royal chambers” I didn't ask Jared more questions before walking away.
He bowed slightly and followed silently behind me till I arrived at the royal chambers and shut the door.
Inside, I leaned the door, my hands squeezing and tousling my well-parked hair.
“Everthing has been ruin” my teeth gritted as I muttered.
I dragged my feet to the wardrobe, pulled it open, and carefully slipped out a small bag hidden inside.
Abruptly, I unzipped the bag, brought out a green bottle wrapped carefully and another smaller polythene bag that contained some herbs.
The moment I unwrapped the bag and revealed what was inside, the sharp scent of moonleaf herb flooded the room.
That was the very reason I left the pack house days ago. It hadn’t been easy to get the moonleaf herb. I had to venture deep into the woods under the cold moonlight to find it, and every step of the journey tested my strength, leaving me almost bitten by a poisonous snake.
As I glared at the herbs, something disturbing immediately struck my mind.
It was the moonleaf herb. They were meant to be squeezed immediately.
It would automatically lose its potency immediately the sun rises. This means it must be used as soon as possible or become useless as trash.
Panic surged through me. Alpha needs those herbs to survive the wolfbane poison.
“What should I do now?” My head spun.
I dragged my feet up to the window side to see if the sun had risen.
Thankfully, it hasn't risen yet.
But Alpha… When will he return? if he didn't show up early, then all my efforts would be in vain.
