Chapter 82: Maxwell's mansion

Imogen's pov

As I stood to my feet, ready to leave, I got a phone call from Danielle

"Hello Ma'am," She said as soon as I picked up the phone

"Hello?" I responded

"They're back, they're back to the house," Danielle said

"Okay" I replied and soon heard a knock on the door, I hung up the call and walked over to the door to see who it was, it was Adam.

"Adam the kids are in the house," I said almost feeling excited

"Yes, I heard everything she said on the phone," Adam said, I wasn't surprised because he has werewolf ears and we can hear things from afar

"I came to escort you to the airport when I heard your conversation with her, Let's go, Imogen, I can't leave you to face this alone," Adam said, I felt touched by his words, and I didn't know what to reply so I just nodded my head

"Let's go" I finally found my missing words, I picked up my phone and we exited the room, I planned on having lunch before leaving but there was no need, now that I'd heard that they were back at the house. We made our way to the underground garage and Adam was the one driving, he drove out of the underground garage and into the city, it was a quiet ride

I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and I canceled my flight to Miami this night. The car finally came to a halt in front of Maxwell's mansion and we got out of the car, this is the second time that I came here today. We walked closer to the door and I rang the doorbell, Danielle was the person who opened it for us

"Good evening ma, good evening sir" she greeted

"Who is at the door Danielle" I heard Maxwell's voice and before Danielle could reply, I entered the house with Maxwell and we came standing face to face.

"What are you doing here" Maxwell asked

"I'm here for the kids Maxwell" And just then I heard Sarah's voice from upstairs

"Mommy" she called, She was looking strong and healthy and I could tell that Adam didn't maltreat them

"Sarah darling, please go back to your room and stay there with your brothers," Maxwell said

"No Sarah, please come down, I want to introduce you to someone"

"My dad?" She asked it was obvious that Maxwell must have told them something

"Mommy please come back home so that we can live together as one happy family," Sarah said, I made sure that they were happy but I wasn't really happy and now that I have finally found true happiness I know that they would also be happy, they refuse to understand

"Sarah, we only want the best for you," Adam said, I know that he wasn't good when it came to stuff like this but I hoped that she would listen

"Stop all this madness, and let's reason like adults," Maxwell said interrupting my thoughts, and then he turned to Sarah

"Sarah go back inside and stay there with your brothers," He said, his voice thick and Sarah didn't think twice, she immediately ran back to her room, what was I expecting? That she will run after me? Maxwell must have lied to them

"Imogen, I want you back in my life and if you guys think that you can forcefully take the children from me, then I will have to poison them," Maxwell said, I knew that he would have the heart to hurt them, Maxwell is a ruthless man and he could do anything to get what he wants which disgusts me

"Maxwell, just accept the fact that I'm no longer coming back, do you derive joy by making me feel miserable, I need my children back, I want them back," I said

"I'm sorry I can't help you," Maxwell said and Adam was furious, I knew that he was going to hit him any moment from now

"Don't you dare try to hit me, are you forgetting that I'm with your kids, I can hurt them whenever I want and since you guys can cooperate with me, I think the days are close" Maxwell said and he stood to his feet and left, he walked up the stairs and then he turned to me and Adam

"You guys can use the door if you're tired of standing there," He said, It hurts so much knowing that there was nothing we could do, it hurts so much knowing that my kids are here but I can't take them and Adam felt helpless, he doesn't want them to get hurt

We walked out of the house and made our way to the car, I felt hopeless and helpless, what on this earth did I do to Maxwell, as I thought about it, I felt Adam's hand on my shoulder, he was trying to comfort me but it wasn't working because I know that he also feels hurt, and I couldn't help but imagine how he would be feeling right now

"Imogen relax, we will find a way around this," He said, I sighed as I entered the car, I lost my appetite and I wished that I had eaten before coming because now I wasn't feeling hungry. He drove back to the pack and I just sat on my seat and stared out the window, I fought the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes back, I didn't want to cry, not today and not any day at all

The car came to a halt in front of the pack house, This is where my children belong, they don't belong in that house with Maxwell, this is where they belong, in the mansion. I couldn't help but think of what Maxwell must have told the kids that made them trust him so much and why they didn't even want to talk to me
