Fifty

Fifty

Kristen's pov.

I sat down quietly on my seat as I stared blankly at Noah, his body was as cold as ice, one would think he was dead if they didn't notice his faint breathing.

Tears rolled down my face as my mind slowly drifted back to the day I met Dominic. I was supposed to be at my training but I sneaked out to go clubbing with my friends.

“Kristen” I remembered my best friend, Lidya calling.

“What?” I frowned as I locked eyes with her. “Me and the girls are going out, wanna come?” She smiled giving me a nudge.

“I don't” I scoffed. “I missed last Saturday's practice and Monday, you know I can't afford to miss another practice”.

“Yeah yeah” she replied rolling her eyes.

“Noah would kill me if he found out I went out”. I explained.

“Last I checked, Noah wasn't your dad” she hissed. “When will you start taking responsibility for yourself?”

“I don't want to talk about this” I frowned as I turned back to my work.

“Then you tell the girls that you could not come because you were scared of Noah” she scoffed as she angrily walked out.

I followed her immediately. “Lidya” I called. “Wait” I shouted after her but she didn't even spare me a glance.

“Lidya” I snapped pulling her. “What are you doing?” I barked.

“What are you talking about?” She defended, her voice laced with disdain.

“Stop acting like you don't understand what I am doing”.

“I don't” she snapped, her brows furrowed in anger. “We are childhood friends Kristen, but we have never had time for ourselves, you are always busy” she shouted.

“You have to understand,” I said calmly.

“Understand?” She scoffed. “You are nothing but a waste of time, sometimes I wonder how we became friends” she hissed with a cold glare before walking away.

“What was that about?” Noah came out of nowhere, I jerked in fright. “what were you guys talking about?” He asked again, ignoring the fact that he just scared me.

“You scared me” I shouted as I gasped for air, my breath became heavy.

“That only means you are yet to be perfect, you have to go prepare for your practice” he revealed.

“I was about to go there when…” he cut me off.

“You are late for your training Kristen” he yelled. “You need to go to for your training, this instance” he commanded.

“You are not my dad” I snapped.

“I might not be your dad but I am your guidance right now, so when I say you go for your training you go”. He said, his face contorted with seriousness as he clutched his hands on his chest.

“You know what?” I frowned. “I am done with you, Lidya was right” I snapped as I walked past him.

“That isn't the way to your practice ground” he called me back.

“I wasn't going for practice” I hissed. “I am going clubbing” I shouted as I ran after Lidya.

I met Lidya in the car, she was on the phone.

“Yeah, girl” she laughed. “Of course, I am wearing the red sexy gown… I wore panties the last time” she laughed.

“Lidya” I called softly. She slowly turned back, her bright smile slowly flickering to a frown.

“I will call you back later,” she said as she hung up. “What?” She snapped, she was brimming with hostility.

“Well, I decided…” I paused as my lips curled into a bright smile. “I decided to go with you” I revealed.

Lidya got quiet as she raised her brows in suspicion. “What are you talking about?” She eyed.

“I thought about what you said and you were right, we have never actually hung out together for like…”. I paused.

“Five years” she chipped in. “We haven't done anything in two years”.

“Yes, two years” I shrugged as I laughed nervously.

“I am so happy” she pulled me into a hug. “Thanks for coming, I can't wait to show you to the girls,” she said happily.

“So when should we go?”

“After you change out of that ridiculous outfit,” she said as she looked down at my clothes, her face flickering to irritation.

“What's wrong with my clothes?” I frowned as I looked down at them.

“Seriously?” She scoffed. “You must be joking,” she said giving me a hard playful slap at my back.

“I am not” I replied as I rubbed my back painfully.

“Oh,” she stopped laughing. “Pity” she muttered loudly as her eyes darted up and down at my body.

“What's wrong with my clothes?” I eyed, my face slowly flickering into anger. “Do you how much I bought these clothes? They were quite expensive”.

“They could be expensive…” she paused as she licked her lips. “But it is only expensive when you are going to a tea party”. She scoffed, her voice filled with mockery.

“Then tell me what you want me to wear”. I frowned.

“Come” she replied dragging me to her room.

A few minutes later I stood in front of the mirror, my lips curled into a huge smile as he stared at me, my face contorted with contentment.

“Do you love it?” She stood at my back.

“Yes,” I nodded quietly. “I love it”.

“I always thought it was just a waste of money, the model sold the dress out, that's why I bought it …” she paused as she admired the dress. “Guess I should have ordered her shape too” she joked.

I burst into laughter. “That's not true, you look good and you have a curvy shape” I reassured her.

“Do not try to make me feel bad” she eyed. “Anyway, I think the cloth found its right owner, but I do think that if you were the model, I wouldn't have seen this dress to buy”.

“Thanks, Lidya,” I said as I pulled her into a hug.

“There is no problem” she smiled back as she rubbed my head reassuringily. “We are late now” she revealed as she released herself from my embrace.

“Yes,” I nodded in agreement as I grabbed my purse, running out, but mistakenly bumped into Noah.

His face flickering to a mixture of shock and anger. “Kristen, what is this?” He shouted.

“What are you talking about?” it's just make-up” I scoffed as I tried to walk past him but he pulled me back.

“I can't believe you talked her into doing this” he turned to Lidya, locking eyes with her with a cold glare.

“I didn't go anything” she defended. “And you can't control what she does with her life, you are only a few years older than her”. She hissed as she walked away.

“Kristen, go back and change”. He commanded, his voice laced with authority.

“You don't tell me what to do?” I snapped.

“You are not prepared for the human world, there are so many things, you don't know, you could be used as a pawn” he revealed.

“I am just hanging out with Lidya and her friends” I defended as I nodded my head in disappointment. “You never trust me, Noah,” I said, my eyes prickling with tears.

“Kristen…” I cut him off.

“Don't” I nodded in disagreement as I walked away, my eyes brimming with tears. I have been locked up in the mansion after I lost my father, Lidya was the only one I grew up with, she was Sir Patrick's niece.

I walked to the car and I met Lidya already seated in the car. I turned back with a lingering look, it was not too late to turn back, Noah was right, what if I wasn't really to face the human world?

“Nah” I nodded my head as I patted my shoulder reassuringly. “Noah is wrong,” I said to myself. “There is a first time for everything” I nodded as I agreed I was making the right decision.

I entered the car and we drove off, a few hours later we were already driving in the human street. The street was filled with beautiful humans, I had never seen, the setting sun shone brightly colored in the sky.

“It is beautiful” I muttered out loud.

“Uhhh” Lidya turned to me, her mouth wide open. “What is?” She frowned.

“The city” I replied.

“Oh my God” she nodded in disappointment. “You are helpless” she muttered.

We got to the club, the moon already at its peak, I got down from the car and followed Lidya closely.

“Oh my God” Lidya shouted as she ran to hug some girls. “You look good”. She complimented.

I stood quietly as Lidya chatted loudly with her friends, it was as though she had forgotten I had followed her. But I was wrong, she turned back immediately.

“Girls, meet my childhood friend, Kristen' she introduced.

“Oh please, don't bite me”. One of the girls bent down in fright. I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

The other girls burst into laughter. “Oh stop it” they laughed, the girl stood up as she pulled me into a hug.

“Nice meeting you” she smiled.

“What did you mean when you said I should not bite you? I am not a dog” I frowned.

“Technically, you guys are somehow related to dogs” she shrugged. “I am so jealous, image having the powers of a werewolf”. She said with a sigh.

“A werewolf?” My mouth opened in shock as I turned to Lidya.

“We know what you guys are” one of the girls whispered.

I stared blankly at them, Lidya broke a serious rule of the pack, never reveal your identity to humans or a rogue. Humans were not supposed to know that werewolves existed and rogues were not supposed to know who the rogue hunters were.

“You told them?” I barked, locking eyes with Lidya, I clenched my fists in anger as I gritted my teeth.

“We can talk about that later” Lidya replied coldly as she pulled me, she and her friends stood in line as they waited to get into the club.

I stood still glaring at Lidya, I was brimming with hostility. Lidya had broken the rule of the pack and she deserved to be punished.

“Ohh” someone bumped into me, knocking my purse off. “Watch where you go” I snapped, looking up at the stranger, my heart skipped a beat.

“I am sorry”. He apologized as he bent to pick up the purse.

He was the most handsome man I had ever seen, his face was shimmering as the bright moonlight shone on his face.

“Dominic” someone called.
