Goof
When Silvy held Ant she was looking at me. She said the words that made it possible for me to breathe normally again. “ Daddy is home.” Some of the best words I have ever heard. Gena walked in with a bottle for Ant handing it to me. “Figured it was your turn,” Gena said then walked away. I had forgotten she was here until now. My entire being was focused on Silvy. I got up from the floor and got on the couch to sit next to Silvy. I was so close I could have sat on her lap but didn’t. Silvy carefully handed Ant over to me so I could feed him. As soon as he was in my arms I held him to my chest as tight as I could without hurting him.
“ Yeah buddy, Daddy is home. And he is going to stay that way.” I told him. It felt so good to have him back in my arms. The only thing better would be if I had an arm around Silvy as well. How was I so stupid to let this go? Never again. When Ant started to fuss I knew it was time to give him his bottle. I pulled him from my chest and cradled him so I can feed him comfortably. “ Goof, if you are good with him I am in desperate need of a shower,” Silvy said. I should have been here for my girl to have a proper shower or a nap. I am a fucking moron. I carefully lean over and kiss her forehead. “ Go. Take as long as you need. I and the little man have some catching up to do.” I told her.
Silvy stood up but looked reluctant to leave. “ Babe, I have got this. And Gena is here if I need anything. Go enjoy your shower.” I told her. Silvy kissed my cheek and raced upstairs. When I knew Silvy was out of earshot I called out for Gena. When she came back to the living and sat down I said “ I need your help.” “ Why do you need my help?” she asked. “ I need you to help me talk to Tony without him killing me.” Then I laid out my plan to Gena. Once I finished I sat back placing Ant on my chest to burp him. “ So what do you think?” I asked as I patted Ant on the back. Gena leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest. “ It isn’t a bad plan. I’ll help you out as much as I can. I will get you some time with Tony. The rest is up to you.”
Ant let out a monster burp we have grown accustomed to as I explained what I needed from Gena. I wanted to get this done in the next few days. I have wasted too much time not claiming Silvy. It is time to fix that. When I was done Gena immediately got on the phone to help me out. After some convincing Gena got Tony to agree to come over to the house for dinner so he and I could talk. She even arranged dinner for us so Silvy and I didn’t have to cook. She said that was so she could be sure Silvy was eating properly.
When Tony came over and it took a lot of convincing and an agreement that he could take my bike if I ever hurt Silvy again for him to agree to my request. Then I called Merigold for help to set up the rest of what I needed. She was going to call the other ol’e ladies in to help. She said Lilly would be pissed at me if she wasn’t included. Lilly is one of Silvy’s closest friends. Yeah, I can’t let Lilly be mad at me. That night before we went to bed I got a text stating everything would be ready. I went to sleep with my girl in my arms again and a smile on my face. I just hope my plans don’t backfire.

Today we are taking Ant to the clubhouse for the first time. They are having a family barbeque before the weather turns too cold to do it anymore. I didn’t want to go at first because Ant hasn’t fully recovered from his ear infection. But Goof convinced me it would be fine. We would bring his medication and if he got fussy we would just go home. Goof also to me that my dad, Gena and Xavier would be there. I wanted to see what they thought of the club when they were surrounded by all the brothers. So here we are. I had gotten Ant’s car seat hooked to the stroller when Merigold and Lilly came storming out the front door.
“ Where is my nephew?” Merigold asked running towards me. When she saw Ant in his car seat chewing on his hand happy as can be she cooed at him. Ant didn’t care about anybody but his hand. We all walked up the path to the door with Goof trailing behind us carrying Ant’s diaper bag. I wanted to bring his playpen but Goof reminded me that the club had anything else we could possibly need because of all the babies before Ant. I was thrilled about that because I didn’t want to lug all that gear around. I love my son and I would but I would just hate it.
Once we were inside and settled Ant was taken from me. I wasn’t surprised. I figured that would happen. The first to take him was Lilly because according to her Ant liked her the best out of all his aunts. The next was Anna and Cormac who declared Ant part of the family. Then it was Ace. After that I didn’t bother to keep track. I knew Ant was safe and if he needed something someone would bring Ant to me. I was headed to the cooler to get a bottle of water and saw Ant with Viper. When did that happen? Oh well, he is good.
I was chatting with Lilly and Gena watching Xavier play with the club kids. I was snacking on fruit and crackers when I saw Goof grab the diaper bag and then Ant from Brick to go inside. I’m guessing Ant needs a diaper change. Part of me wants to go and see if Goof needs any help but I know Goof would have called out to me if he did. And I am enjoying my time talking with the girls. I haven’t seen or talked to them much in months. I had been focusing on healing, Ant and Goof. And once I get back to work next week my time will be even less. So I am going to take advantage of the time I have now.
The grills were going and the smells of various meats filling the air was making me hungry. The sound of kids' laughter filled the air. It was a warm but not scorching hot clear day. It is the perfect day for this and I am happy that I came. I was about to ask Anna something when Goof came over and asked “ Babe, can you help me fix the blanket? I can never get it right.” I take Ant from him and cradled him in my arm. With the other hand, I moved the blanket. The first thing I noticed was that Goof had changed Ant’s onesie. That happens often. No big deal. Goof always puts Ant in silly ones so I take time to read it. “ Mommy, will you marry Daddy?” I went to cover Ant but stopped. Wait, what did that say?
I pulled the blanket back and read it again. It still read “ Mommy, will you marry Daddy?” I gasp and look up for Goof to see he is on one knee in front of me holding a ring in the palm of his hand. “ Babe, I haven’t told you this enough. I love you. I am down on my knees to beg you to make me the luckiest asshole on the planet. Will you let me be your ol’e man and husband?” Goof asked. The only word I could get out was “ Really?” Okay, that was the worst response in the history of proposals. Goof though just chuckles “ Yeah, babe, really. I want to be yours and only yours. So what do you say? Will you?” The man is still on his knee. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought about this. Hell, dreamed about it. The man of my dreams wanted me as his. That man has always been Goof even if I never wanted to admit it.
I had tears streaming down my face. “ Babe?” Goof asked. “ Happy tears. I promise. Yes, Micheal, I will marry you and be your ol’e lady.” I said. Goof got up off his knees, came to me and slipped the beautiful diamond and rose gold ring on my finger. He wrapped his arms around both Ant and I. He placed a light kiss on my lips quickly. “ Thank you, babe. I love you so much.” Goof said. Now it was time to tell him the words I have yet to say but have always felt. “ I love you too.”
