Chapter 132: The Woman Who Kidnapped Me

At that moment, there was a knock on the office door. The secretary opened the door and reported.

"Ryan, Miss Ava is here."

"Let her in," Ryan said, looking up and putting down the photo in his hand. Ava walked in, her face noticeably haggard.

"Any news? Have you found her?" she asked.

Ryan shook his head, stood up from his chair, and walked over to her, placing a comforting arm around her waist. His voice was soothing.

"Don't worry, the police are still investigating. Just be patient."

Ava sighed and couldn't help but mutter, "Why do the bad guys always get away with it, while the good people don't get their rewards..."

As she spoke, her gaze inadvertently fell on Ryan's desk, where several photos were scattered. Ava's eyes landed on a few of them, her pupils suddenly constricting, and she was taken aback.

This was...

She couldn't help but pick up those photos from the desk and examined them closely, becoming even more certain in her heart.

Yes, she wasn't mistaken; it was Jane's face.

And the second person in the photo was Grace. Ava became alert. Why would Grace know Jane? And why had they met in secret?

"Do you know her?" Ryan asked, noticing the odd expression on Ava's face. He was probing.

"It's Jane. She's Jane," Ava said, looking up, her emotions suddenly becoming agitated.

Ryan was somewhat familiar with the name but couldn't quite place who she was. He saw Ava grab his arm, her eyes filled with earnestness as she said,

"Do you remember the second time we met, when you and the police came to rescue me?"

Hearing this, Ryan was puzzled. The second time they met?

He had forgotten, but he didn't expect her to remember so clearly, down to the exact number of their meetings.

Ryan quickly recalled the incident. Indeed, there was such an event. That night, Ben had called him, saying his tutor had gone missing and asking for his help to find her. They eventually found her in a villa in the northern part of the city, confirming that she had been kidnapped.

Ava's expression suddenly turned fearful, yet she spoke with certainty,

"The one who kidnapped me that time was this woman!"

"Her?" Ryan's voice was filled with surprise.

He suddenly remembered that after rescuing Ava, he hadn't inquired about the details. Instead, he had dozed off in the car as if it had nothing to do with him.

Thinking about it, he realized he had been rather indifferent back then.

A pang of guilt welled up inside Ryan, and he couldn't help but hold her hand tighter, "There won't be a second time."

Ava was liberated from her dark memories. For some reason, she felt that this suddenly appearing Jane must have some issue, seemingly having some vague connection with Vivian.

Jane, Vivian, Mrs. Dawson...

These three names kept spinning in Ava's mind. What was the connection? Suddenly, a flash of insight crossed Ava's mind, and a hospital scene appeared before her eyes.

Yes, that's right, the hospital!

Ava finally realized that Jane and Mrs. Dawson had given birth in the same delivery room at the city hospital twenty years ago, and she and Vivian were the two children who had been switched on that day!

So, Jane was Vivian's biological mother!

Jane's son urgently needed a bone marrow transplant to save his life. If Jane knew that Vivian was her daughter, she would definitely not let it go easily.

Thinking this, Ava couldn't help but pick up those photos from the table again. The expressions of Grace and Jane seemed incredibly suspicious to her.

"Bad, Vivian is in danger!" Ava blurted out.

At that moment, the police also called, informing them that they had figured out the license plate number of another suspicious vehicle on the day Vivian went missing. Fortunately, it wasn't a fake plate. According to the investigation, it was a business vehicle registered under a company, with the legal representative named Jack.

"Is it Jack?" Ava was startled. Could he be Jane's husband?

"That's the name," the police were taken aback by her knowledge, "How do you know him?"

Ava didn't deny it and quickly went to the police station with Ryan, telling the police everything she knew in detail. The police were greatly shocked. They didn't expect that there would be so many connections involved, even related to illegal medical transplants, which is a very serious crime.

Based on the details Ava revealed, the police took it very seriously and immediately began to investigate the Jane couple.

When Jack received the call, he was driving on the road. He didn't know it was the police at first and answered calmly.

"We are the police. Please cooperate with the investigation and come to the police station now."

Jack drove without changing his expression, seemingly having anticipated a call from the police. He asked indifferently, "What's the matter?"

To everyone's surprise, Jack arrived at the police station on time, and he was accompanied by a lawyer. With a lawyer by his side, Jack had nothing to fear. He answered every question very cautiously, unwilling to say an extra word. He only stated that the car in the surveillance had been stolen from him half a month ago, and he had no knowledge of its subsequent driving records.

The police questioned him for over an hour but got no results and had to let him go. Before leaving, Jack said that he was very busy and if there were any further matters, they should contact his proxy lawyer.

After leaving the police station, Jack suddenly stopped the car halfway, threw his mobile phone by the roadside, and sped off again.

There was no time for anything else; saving his son's life was the most important thing.

Jack was tight-lipped, and for the police to trace any information from him, they had to find another way. However, when they tried to track Jack's whereabouts using GPS, they found that his location had become stationary. The police went to the location based on the signal and only found a discarded mobile phone.

There must be something wrong. The police were more certain that Jack must have some issue. However, since he had discarded his phone and was being cautious with his movements, it was as if he had vanished into thin air, making it even more difficult to track him down at this moment.

Jack carefully returned to his suburban residence. Jane glanced at him,

"Is everything arranged?"

"Don't worry, they won't find us," Jack said, taking a final look outside before carefully closing the villa's main door.

"The surgery is the day after tomorrow. I hope everything goes smoothly," Jane closed her eyes, silently praying in her heart that after this surgery, Max would recover.

Finally, the day arrived.

"Where's the girl?" Jack walked into the room and looked inside.

"She's been knocked out. We can't disturb her until the surgery. We have to keep her under control," Jane said, then walked to a room, opened the door, and saw Vivian lying quietly on the bed, her eyes tightly closed, with various instruments monitoring her condition already attached to her body. A nurse was keeping watch beside her.

"How is she? Is everything normal?" Jane asked.

"Everything is normal," the nurse replied.

Jane let out a slight sigh of relief, then went to another room on the third floor, which was Max's room.

Two doctors were by Max's side, conducting his daily routine checks.

"Max..." Jane walked to her son's side, looking at his gaunt face on the hospital bed, her heart aching, "Don't be afraid, you'll be saved soon. I promise you'll be fine."

At that moment, sensing the movement beside him, Max's eyelashes fluttered, and in the next second, he weakly opened his eyes.

"Mom, are you... again..." the man on the hospital bed spoke tremulously, "I don't need you to do such things for me. Don't do bad things, don't make it hard for others."

He didn't get to say much before he started coughing violently again.
