Chapter 125: Mother and Daughter Alone
Ava followed Mr. Dawson up the stairs, Mr. Dawson opened one of the innermost bedrooms on the second floor and pushed the door open, only to see her mother lying motionless on the bed, her eyes closed tightly, with a ventilator on her nose and various monitors clustered around her. A servant stood guard next to her, and nodded when she saw the two coming.
"You can go back first." Mr. Dawson dismissed the servant, and Ava and Mr. Dawson were left alone in the room.
Looking at the lifeless woman lying on the bed, Ava's eyes had already begun to water, and there was a hidden voice in her heart that kept reminding her that this was her real mother, and the only person who had chosen to believe her during those days of misunderstanding by everyone.
"Mom ......" Ava couldn't help but walk up to her, leaning against the side of her hospital bed with red eyes, finally able to go and take a closer look at her face for the first time.
"Ava, your mom has been asking about your whereabouts since before the accident, and after finding you, she went to her lawyer early in the morning to change her will, leaving a large portion of her name to you, it's just a shame that she's like this now ...... hey." Said to the end, Mr. Dawson choked to say no more, just heavy sigh.
Everything Mr. Dawson said was something Ava didn't know, something Mrs. Dawson had secretly done for her in private.
Ava reached out to take the hand of the woman on the bed, her hand was cold and stiff, the curve on the cardiac monitor at the side shifted faintly, as if that was the only thing that could prove the woman was alive.
Mr. Dawson looked at Ava with a gloomy look, his heart moved, and he would say, "I won't bother you anymore, Ava, you must have a lot of things you want to say to your mother, I'll go out first."
After saying that, Mr. Dawson took one last look at his wife on the bed, slowly stood up, opened the door and left.
In the room, finally only Ava and Mrs. Dawson were left.
It was the first time the two of them, mother and daughter, were truly alone together, without a third person in the room, without anything interfering.
"Mom," Ava spoke once more, mumbling under her breath, "Mom, we're finally meeting again, and it's a shame that it's only now that I know the truth about everything, that I've been able to truly call you Mom here, but you can't hear me . ...Can you hear me? Mom, I'm sorry I'm late, right no go."
A tear swiftly crossed Ava's face and dripped down Ava's chin and onto Mrs. Dawson's pale face.
Tick.
Mrs. Dawson's face, which had been taut, surprisingly loosened for a moment.
Ava got down and buried her head in Mrs. Dawson's, but didn't dare to push, just tried to feel what little warmth she had left. How she wished she could wake up, she could see in front of her own, she could speak, she wanted to hear her tenderly call herself Ava.
Unfortunately ...... all this could never be done again, perhaps never.
The doctor said, Mrs. Dawson probability is not wake up, perhaps will lie in bed forever.
Ava holding his mother s hand, the force in his hand involuntarily slightly tightened a few points.
At that moment, and I don't know if it was an illusion or what, Ava felt her hand moved by an external force.
This is ......
Ava was immediately sensitive to the fact that it wasn't her hand moving, could it be Mrs. Dawson's hand?
"Mom, Mom, you can hear me can't you?" Ava gripped Mrs. Dawson's hand once again, trying to make an effort to feel her once more, hoping that it wasn't her illusion just now, yet this time, she couldn't feel any movement in her hand.
"Mom, can you hear me, it's Ava, will you respond to me?"
The air was quiet, with only a burst of her echo traveling through it.
Just as Ava was tense and about to say something else, the door to the room slammed twice and Mr. Dawson pushed his way in from outside.
It turned out that an hour had passed without her realizing it, and Mr. Dawson came in and greeted Ava as she went down for coffee.
Only then did Ava let go of Mrs. Dawson's hand, and with a last reluctant glance at Mrs. Dawson, she slowly got up, and after she got up, she turned back while walking.
"Mom, I'll leave now, I'll see you next time."
After Ava left, the door of the room was closed again at once, and the room once again returned to a dead silence, leaving Mrs. Dawson lying there alone and still.
However, no one noticed that at some point, a crystal tear slowly slid down from the corner of the woman's eye, appearing dazzling in the dim light.
Nurses and servants pushed the door in, preparing the woman on the bed for the last checkup of the night, and the servants went to help the woman take off her blouse, but they were surprised to find that there were actually faint traces of tears on her face.
Is this ...... Mrs. crying?
The maid was shocked, Mrs. Dawson had been in a coma for a long time and had never woken up, nor had she ever responded to anything in the outside world, if it was really Mrs. Dawson's tears, could it be that Mrs. Dawson had already gained some consciousness?
So she rushed to explain the situation to the nurse, who froze equally when she heard it, and rushed to give Mrs. Dawson a checkup.
Vivian came back, saw Ava at home, face changed, Mr. Dawson earnestly want to let the two daughters exchange exchanges, want to let Vivian come over to eat together, but the other party was too tired to reject the reason, Vivian self-conscious to go back to the room.
Seeing this, Mr. Dawson could only sigh and comforted Ava, "Ava, don't take it too seriously, she can't accept it for a while, it will be fine after a few days, this child has been spoiled by me since she was a child."
Ava shook her head, saying she wouldn't care, and went back after drinking her coffee.
Ava returned to the apartment alone, opened the door, it was pitch black inside, Ava turned on the light and sat down on the sofa alone.
Ava suddenly realized that she had not been alone for a long time, and had not been alone for a long time to experience this kind of loneliness in peace and quiet.
"Ding, ding, ding ......"
A reminder bell rang in her cell phone, and Ava's hand swiping her cell phone paused as the word "James" popped up abruptly in the screen of her cell phone.
"Tomorrow is James' birthday, tomorrow is James' birthday."
The mechanical female voice in the phone repeated emotionlessly. This was what Ava had set up earlier, and she didn't remember to cancel it for a moment.
Looking at this familiar word that couldn't be any more familiar, her mind suddenly recalled the image of this man taking himself for a ride, and soon the image was fleeting in the next second.
Somehow, Ava only felt a pang of frustration.
On the third day, a letter carrier knocked on the door and gave her a parcel, the sender of the parcel used an alias, she didn't know who it was, and the letter carrier said that it was a timed letter, the sender had set today's date four months ago, and sent it out on time.
Four months ago?
Ava froze, and who could it be? Sent herself something four months ago.
Ava opened the package to see, but a very small box, which is finely wrapped layer after layer, layer after layer to open to the innermost, is a very delicate flower carving jade box.Ava took out this box, only feel light, open a look, but a sparkling diamond ring.
Ava was surprised and couldn't believe her eyes, it was actually a ring?
Why would someone send her a ring? Ava hurriedly went to fetch another small card in the box and lifted it up to see that it simply read, "To my love:marry me."
Ava put the card down, thought for a moment, and smiled knowingly, her mind quickly coming up with an answer.
As luck would have it, Ryan had called her and was asking her out tonight, plus he had something important to tell her.
Ava agreed without moving on the surface, but her heart was thumping nervously, she actually vaguely guessed what he wanted to tell her.
After all, a diamond ring would only be used for a special occasion.
Ava dressed up and got into Ryan's car at 5:30 sharp.
The car started up quickly and headed towards the bustling city center.
Ryan drove the car himself, seeing her well-dressed look as a rare grandeur, the corners of his lips hooked and a hint of curiosity crossed his face.
The car drove to a Mexican restaurant located on the lake, with a clean environment and a wide view.
The moon was hazy that night, and the wind on the lake blew lifelike from time to time, and the two of them ate their meal while enjoying the view of the lake.
Ava sat across from him, wearing a black halter dress, long hair flowing, makeup exquisite, looking at the man in front of her with eyes softer than usual, vaguely permeated with a kind of expectation.
"Ava, actually ......," Ryan suddenly stood up and spoke in a single word under his breath, "I have something important to tell you today."
Ava smiled and nodded her head, waiting for his next move, but who knows Ryan pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, slowly lit one and took a drag.
The smile on Ava's face abruptly froze.
