Chapter 369 Cerebral Usurpation
"Take him back," Wilford said in a deep voice.
The two subordinates behind him immediately stepped forward, grabbed Delmar by the arms, and took him away.
Wyatt was also taken along with them.
Wilford's gaze fell on the ringing phone on the ground. He walked over and picked it up.
"Delmar, what's going on over there? Didn't you say you were going to have fun with them? How come you let them go so quickly?"
"Jasmine," Wilford spoke.
Jasmine froze, not expecting that the person answering the phone was Delmar's father.
The corner of her mouth twitched as she pretended to be calm. "Wilford."
"Jasmine, let me ask you—who did Delmar invite to the hotel room today?"
Jasmine could tell something was off from his tone, so she asked back, "What's wrong? Why are you asking this? Did something happen to Delmar?"
"Yes," Wilford nodded lightly. "Delmar was beaten into an idiot."
"What?" Jasmine was shocked.
"That's why I'm asking you—which girl did Delmar invite today? I think that girl might be the one responsible for making Delmar like this," Wilford said.
As Delmar's father, Wilford knew his son's nature all too well. He could figure out what Delmar had planned for tonight without even thinking.
Jasmine was quite surprised to hear this.
Delmar was beaten into an idiot?
She really hadn't expected that even with a hypnotist, Delmar still couldn't pull it off.
Jasmine felt a bit disappointed that she didn't get to watch the drama unfold. In the end, she told Wilford Isabella's name.
"Alright, I understand. Jasmine, thank you."
——
The Puckett family's castle.
Delmar was strapped to a hospital bed.
The Puckett family's doctor needed to examine Delmar to see if his head had been injured, which would explain why he had become so foolish and deranged.
Delmar kept crying and shouting like a child, calling for his dad and mom.
Wilford watched with a deep frown.
After the examination, the doctor found no wounds on Delmar's head.
The doctor was puzzled when an elder of the Puckett family walked in.
He glanced at Delmar on the bed, then turned to Wilford and said, "Delmar wasn't beaten into this state. He's been hit with Cerebral Usurpation."
Everyone showed surprised expressions at these words.
"Cerebral Usurpation?"
"Isn't that something only hypnotists can do?"
"Cerebral Usurpation" was also a type of hypnosis technique.
Although Wilford wasn't a hypnotist, he knew that whether it was Cerebral Usurpation or Nightmare Mesmerism, only the hypnotist who cast it could undo it.
At first, he hadn't thought in this direction, assuming Delmar had simply been physically injured. After all, there weren't many hypnotists who could perform "Cerebral Usurpation"—only those with exceptional talent could master such techniques.
Besides, when they arrived, Wyatt had also been unconscious in the room and still hadn't woken up.
This meant that girl's hypnosis skills were superior to Wyatt's.
"Radiant University really is full of hidden talents. At such a young age, to be such a skilled hypnotist—truly impressive," one of the elders said, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
"Wilford, I suggest you immediately find that hypnotist," another elder advised. "Only by having that hypnotist remove the hypnosis from Delmar as soon as possible can we minimize the brain damage. Otherwise, Delmar might really become an idiot and never recover."
Wilford's eyes darkened at these words.
He immediately summoned a guard captain and ordered, "Go to Radiant University and bring Isabella here. Have her remove the hypnosis."
"If you can avoid conflict, don't create conflict."
After all, a hypnotist of this caliber was truly not to be underestimated.
Besides, if Delmar hadn't offended Isabella first, she probably wouldn't have hypnotized him. Wilford knew his son all too well.
"Yes."
The guard captain bowed his head in acknowledgment.
——
Delmar hadn't come to class for several days in a row.
During this time, Jasmine had been observing Isabella. She really hadn't expected Isabella to turn Delmar into an idiot, and she wondered how Isabella had managed it.
"Have you noticed? Delmar hasn't been here for days," some classmates discussed privately.
"Yeah, where did he go?"
"Maybe he's too embarrassed to come? After all, he completely lost face in ancient martial arts class."
The more they thought about it, the more they believed Delmar wasn't coming to class because he was embarrassed.
In the evening, Isabella left the lab and headed back to the dorm.
When she reached the door, she sensed the presence of strangers inside.
As she pushed open the door, several men in uniforms stood inside.
Cecilia wasn't there, but Kennedy was, standing beside those uniformed men.
"Isabella, they're here for you," Kennedy said, while silently mouthing the words, "They're from the Puckett family."
"You're Isabella, right?" Gavin Puckett stepped forward. He stood in front of Isabella with his arms crossed, holding a knife that Puckett family guards carried. "I'm Gavin, captain of the Puckett family guards, and these are my men."
"Mr. Delmar Puckett has been hypnotized. You did it, didn't you?" Gavin stared at her and continued, "My master said that considering you and Mr. Delmar Puckett are classmates, he won't hold it against you, but you need to come with us and remove the hypnosis from Mr. Delmar Puckett."
Gavin remembered Wilford's words—he was already being quite polite with what he'd said.
Otherwise, according to his usual way of doing things, he would have just tied Isabella up and taken her back.
Wasn't Isabella just a hypnotist? In front of his fists, she was nothing but useless.
Isabella looked up at him and refused without hesitation. "I'm not going."
Gavin froze.
Then he frowned.
"Do you think you have a choice? I was being nice to you just now out of courtesy. You dared to use hypnosis on Mr. Delmar Puckett—I could stab you to death right now and it wouldn't be too much. And you still dare to refuse? Do you really think the Puckett family is easy to mess with?"
Gavin was one of Wilford's most capable guards. His ancient martial arts skills were among the best in the entire Northern Ice Empire, so people usually came begging to him—he rarely had to ask anyone for anything.
Besides, he didn't think he needed to beg Isabella at all.
If it weren't for her, Delmar wouldn't have ended up like this. She was the one who did this in the first place. By rights, Wilford should have just captured Isabella and beaten her, then made her obediently remove the hypnosis from Delmar—that's what she deserved, not this polite conversation.
"The Puckett family isn't easy to mess with," Isabella raised her cool eyes to look at Gavin, her voice low. "But I'm not easy to mess with either."
